  1. I have my pagefile on my second SATA drive and have the initial and max values set as the same. Absolutely no problems here.
  2. I don't think it has anything to do with your sound card. Videotape meaning, a camcorder? If so, you could just capture the DV via FireWire and then extract the audio as WAV and convert it to MP3. I have a 3 year old Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and it has never given me problems. I wouldn't spend money on a new sound card unless it has been confirmed 100% that your current sound is causing the problem.

  4. 20, I'll be 21 on June 21. Whoa, 21 on the 21st... I just realized that...
  5. I haven't used it in a year or so, it might be really good now, I don't know. lol I don't ever get trojans, the most I've got in the last few months is a bad cookie, which CCleaner took care of quickly.
  6. FileZilla has both a client and a server, both extremely easy to use, yet very secure.
  7. Then use XPLite to remove WMP10. Or disable WFP and delete the program files directory then clean out the registry. MPC combined with FFDShow is easier on the CPU, anyway.
  8. I'm using the latest version of Daemon Tools and have no problems. I just turned all the extra features off and it's not annoying anymore.
  9. Just use MPC from now on and ditch WMP10.
  10. if you just want to view PDF Files, Foxit PDF Reader is much better. Takes up much less HD space, is free. Very nice tool.
  11. I'd only recommend the time consuming process of using stuff like max dictionary size if you have a 6 year old 4 GB HD, and even then it will take centuries compared to using a 160GB SATA drive. If you have a huge HD, I wouldn't be so fussy about getting 700 MBs down to... 500...
  12. me too... Same here Same here.
  13. Try FileZilla for your FTP program. It's free, easily configurable, just great. You might not have such problems.
  14. Restore your page file, clean out temp/cache/MRUs with CCleaner and also clean the registry with it, remove all files from C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch, turn off unncessary Services and disable unneeded Start-up entries. Set the page file to 1.5x the size of how much RAM you have and make sure the initial and max value are the same. If you have more than one harddrive or partition, place the page file on that second one. Disable all visual effects, except for "Show Windows Contents While Dragging", then defrag with PerfectDisk v7.0. If you're wondering about Services, I have put together 2 reg files, one for networked PCs and one for non-networked PCs. You might have to change a thing or two, so take 5 minutes to go through the reg file in Notepad and change the "4" value to "2" (Automatic) or "3" (Manual).
  15. Remember a lot of people like chatting online, viewing little porno webcams, Yahoo games, etc... and those things require either ActiveX or JavaScript. IE still has 80+% of the market and people are generally stupid. They want functionality, they aren't aware of the security risks, if it works, great.
  16. That wasn't funny at all.

If you want stability, don't overclock, it's as simple as that.

  19. Probably that time of the month... If she gets into a fight with a bear, my money's on her.
  20. Why bring back this old thread? I fixed the issue and beat the game ages ago, and CoD2, which is a much better game than CoD1.
  21. There is an actual program called Trojan Remover, and it has been updated probably... several dozens of times over the past several years, but it is not free, and I have heard more bad reviews about it than good. It supposedly has the largest database of trojan recognitions, but I'm really not quite sure.
  22. Too bad it is so common that it is easily exploited, go figure as it is built into Windows.
  23. I'm going to pretend this post doesn't exist.
  24. I got more than I bargained for. Thanks, Zxian.
