Advanced Font Viewer - A Lever That Strengthens Your Creative Effort
Jeremy replied to SAlexander's topic in Software Hangout
I think certain fonts are limited to the sizes because if they were shown at those unique sizes, they would look weird (unreadable). I mean, it's one thing to get your head around why this and why that regarding fonts, but think again about how they would actually look. Just pick your 3 favorite fonts and live with it... -
Advanced Font Viewer - A Lever That Strengthens Your Creative Effort

Wow, that was quite a speel... some fonts are hard to read. I just use Arial. -
Adobe Premiere is the best.

It's actually good for your immune system.

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=66285&hl= From January 29th, you said the same thing. Now you create another thread two months later complaining about the very same thing? Not too bright...

We have a bunch of old audio CDs that I ripped using CDex so we could put them on our MP3 player and throw out our old CD player. The thing is, there's a lot of them that don't have names. Is there any program that can "scan" an MP3 and go online to some sort of database, or read any "header" type of thing inside the MP3 to give a filename? Thanks, Jeremy

Yes, just because it reports more infections than another, doesn't mean it is better than others. You really have to take your time and analyze each detected "infection" and make sure it is one and not a false positive. Also for future reference, refer to some of my previous posts: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...67916&hl=router http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...67791&hl=router Don't worry about the keyword at the end, they're just search results, not focused entirely on routers. Internet Security in general.

1. Make a bootable CD with the file on it and just use the command prompt to copy it over. 2. Put the HD in another PC and just drag and drop the file from the system drive/partition onto yours. 3. Partition your drive and create another one, install Windows on that, then boot from it and replace the DLL from the new paritition to the other one. 1. Would be easiest.

Use nLite to remove things you don't want in your Windows installation. Be Careful.

Norton is as effective in removing viruses on a PC as your spelling/grammar would be in an essay.

Ask DigeratiPrime, he loves all these portable versions of programs...

How so?

Well, thanks for the specifics which Aegis failed to mention. You know what? When it goes final and is ready for public DL, I'll grab it, test it on another partition and see if I should eat my words.

I doubt that. Microsoft determines the future of computers, sadly enough each version of Windows needs 2 GBs more RAM, which causes nit-picking freaks like us to mod, hack, tweak for all eternity. 5MBs? Gamer's Edition? DirectX alone is way more than 5 MBs and you can't play any game without DirectX... That's because there is no lag, buddy. I have a 1.5Mbit cable connection and I don't connect to any server that has a ping higher than 100ms. I'm not missing out on anything. You want more performance in games, get better hardware. Simple as that. 85% of the people out there don't even know what a firewall is. A more secure OS? Ok, but one that you and maybe 50 of your "beta" testers will use, realize in the long run that it just isn't worth it, and tell you good luck with your adventures.

A fully functional Windows is not modifying a **** thing in it. I'm sorry but this whole thing just is not practical by any means. How many DLLs are ripped out of Gamer's Edition? Ripken told me on MSN that he was up to 5 AM trying to a fix a DirectX issue. Shouldn't a Gamer's edition be ready to fly with any game? *shakes head*
-
I don't mean to seem pessimistic, but actually realistic. I've probably said the same thing to gdogg about his micro-whatever project. This *Gamer's* Edition just seems so totally bogus to me. I mean, it's like you just rip out all kinds of DLLs that go even beyond nLite's grasp, ISO it and distribute it to people to beta test, when infact they have to stay up until 5 AM putting DLLs back into the Windows you crippled. I mean, if you have 2 GBs of Dual Channel RAM, and a good AMD CPU, you're going to have more than enough resources to run both Windows an any game of your choice and then some. Why bother making this crippled Windows *Gamer* edition that "makes sure nothing interferes with your games"? I run my software firewall, Hamachi, Admuncher and Trillian at the same time as my games and they run *perfectly*. I think you're either misinformed, too picky or both. It just doesn't seem worth the time and effort. Prove me wrong.

TMPGenc is usually for MPEG-1, 2. If you want to compress a DVD to 1 CD (700 MBs) use XviD.

@eidenk, serves you right for using WinME. @ripken, yes I have them listed by number, but the are not in a "best to decent" formation. I've been tinkering with JV16 PowerTools and have realized that it has features within features. I was able to remove some things from the registry that nothing else picked up, and then when I did a registry clean, about a dozen old uninstalled software references showed up. Too bad Macecraft charges money for this product despite having a .org website, how misleading. I will rearrange them from what I think is the best to decent way.

This a trial of elimination. The following programs have won so far. I have screenshots that will elaborate things for you as you read. Enjoy. Registry/Maintenance Programs That Are Worth It – Revision 1 (Keep in mind that my first priority in judgment for these programs is registry and then maintenance. If it were maintenance first, CCleaner would be #1. 1. JV16 PowerTools 2005 http://www.jv16.org/ Payware ($29.95 US / $34.03 CAN) Main GUI As clearly shown, a multi-functional program capable of over a dozen very useful tasks that will keep your PC in optimal shape, especially when combined with CCleaner, due to how many programs’ temp/cache locations are integrated into it, which no other program has. 2. CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) http://www.ccleaner.com/ Freeware Straightforward, easy-to-use GUI Includes a registry cleaner that finds critical invalids, allows for backup if desired Removes countless junk, temp, cache, MRU files Add/Remove applet-like menu with rename, remove and execute abilities Start-Up Manager Secure File Deletion Protect desired cookies Context menu entries optional 3. Ace Utilities http://www.acelogix.com/aceutils.html Payware ($29.95 US / $34.03 CAN) Features include: Remove Junk Files Clean Registry Find Duplicate Files Start-Up Manager Complete list of features, explanations and screenshots can be found at the link above 4. RegSeeker http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm Freeware RegSeeker GUI & Features RegSeeker has several features that remind you of CCleaner and JV16 or RegCleaner. Some people say it removes too much from the registry but I have been using it for a while and haven't had any problems with corruption. It has a great GUI and is free so I thought I would mention it. 5. Registry First Aid Payware ($27.95 US, $31.75 CAN) http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/reg1aid/ RFA Options RFA Scan Options RFA Scan Results RFA is recently updated, has many useful options that generally make it an overall great registry cleaner. It has many awards and generally gives off the vibe of being a trustworthy program. It is good for removing unused shell extensions and MRUs among many other types of references. It can view entries in safety categories which enforces a boundary for users and makes them feel safer about removing entries than they might otherwise. It adds a start-up entry for its “Agent”. 6. RegCleaner http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-download/...-cleaner4.3.htm Freeware Main GUI Tools > ... Contains many of the same functions that JV16 PowerTools has. It has an OLE Cleaner and registry cleaner and is very small in filesize. This is probably the only freeware partial alternative to JV16 for those who want the functions of JV16, but don’t want to buy it. It also allows viewing of OCX and DLL files, which can be used in troubleshooting situations. Overall a terrific freeware solution, despite initial misjudgment from myself. Sorry, eidenk. 7. Registry Healer http://www.fixregistry.com/regheal/index.htm Payware ($19.95 US, $22.68 CAN) Registry Healer Options RH Main GUI I’m pleased with this registry cleaner because it intelligently manages to not pick every entry by default, but picks what it thinks should be removed and leaves the rest up to you. The same thing can be said about Registry First Aid, of course, but to have more than one cleaner with this design gives users more variety. It is clearly highly customizable, and allows you to protect desired areas of the registy so you don’t have to fear of corruption. 8. RegScrubXP I did not find a homepage. Freeware RegScrubXP Extras ReGScrubXP Results RegScrubXP scans very quickly and removes a lot of null entries, which is good. It is free and very popular.

Glad to have helped.
