  1. Today I tried two programs for finding id tags for my songs and somehow, in my attempt to label one song, labeled many other by that name. Now every tagger program I try thinks 1/4 of my music collection is by the same artist. Is there any other information in a song that can be used to correctly get the tags and rename the songs in the following format: Artist - Album - Song # - Song Title I've tried MP3 Tagger and Tag&Rename.
  2. http://www.extremetech.com/slideshow/0,1206,a=213633,00.asp Found this on Digg. Some of those are freakin' awesome!
  3. Yeah, multiple PCs used by the entire family can make things harder to manage. Unless you have a domain and Active Directory setup where you can limit their ability, and throttle it depending on how much they complain about not being able to do certain things.
  4. Yeah, I spent too much time trying out anti-virus products... - Keep your personal files off you boot/OS drive. - Use Firefox or Opera, or if you use IE, use it with IEPro and with ActiveX, Java and scripting disabled. A lot of sites like FaceBook require Java to upload pictures, though. - Verify e-mails and attachments. - Verify transfers or links via IM. - Use virtualization software to test downloaded files. - Use a hardware firewall such as a router. - When your system is working 100% the way you want, make an image and keep that on a different HDD or partition, or on a DVD; single or dual layer depending on the size. On my OS drive I only have Windows and programs installed and my image is 1GB. It takes me less than 1 minute to make a new image and 3 minutes to restore. No more anti-virus or software firewalls taking up resources. I use my brain instead.
  5. I haven't played HL2DM in ages. I don't like the normal DM because it is too slow. Especially after playing UT2004. I play the Pro Mod which version 1.8 is in alpha development right now. I only like to play with friends, not strangers. I know this limits me a lot in terms of experience and so forth, but oh well. I'm likely not as good as I used to be. I actually put up a good fight against Netrex, who is a friend of mine. He made this video as well as many others. puntoMX and Fridge-Raider used to play with me, but those days have long gone. Edit - I'm actually re-downloading HL2 + DM from Steam.
  6. No. Only if your HDD is dying.
  7. I received the same error message with the latest Norton garbage in VMware. So as far as I am concerned, it has nothing to do with a previous version.
  8. A perfect scanner? Really? Wow! That's gotta mean spot on no false-positives. Last I heard the only AV product that managed to pull that off was Symantec. Even though you indicate many valid points as to why Kaspersky is a great product, you seem like another biased fan. I do not use anti-virus software as I have no use for it. I'm smart enough with what I do to not get infections in the first place. If something goes wrong, I just have to reboot, pop in my Acronis Rescue Media, restore and there I go. One could also use DeepFreeze or Rollback RX.
  9. I'm using the new Beta and it works fine. Their Recuva product is also excellent as well.
  10. Turn off the Indexing Service for starters if you haven't already. I would try Google Desktop as Zxian mentions because someone saying it is not good because of multiple processes isn't very valid, especially if you aren't as picky about things like that.
  11. Have you tried exiting the Kaspersky GUI via the right-click option on the system tray icon, and disabling the service? Have you tried flash media in Firefox or Opera after you install the respective extension/plugin? Have you tried using Dial-A-Fix?
  12. You realize you will get a different answer from everyone, right? It also depends... to what extent do you want to edit a video? Simple text screens before the video starts or Hollywood-type effects? I personally use Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Instead of asking what others use, try out some trial versions on your own and see which one suits you best. Obviously, some applications require a steeper learning curve than others. This link may be of some help to you. It's a list of freeware and commercial editing software alike.
  13. At this point in time: Half-Life 1 + 2 + and Episode One. Episode Two will be released on October 9th.
  14. Spoiler Alert I saw this in theaters for $8.50. I thought it was a great movie. I disliked the excessive shaky-cam. I was breaking a sweat and on the edge of my seat with the fight scene between Bourne and Desh. I was expecting more from the ending... he was basically a confused young boy willing to show off to his superiors by convincing himself that he was a special assassin. He was good inside but forced himself to be evil when necessary. The gunshot to the back that landed him with his memory loss was probably the best thing that ever happened to him. We basically just spent 3 movies waiting for him to find the pics and names of those who guided him through the first door and killing that headbagged guy in the corner. He simply decided he wanted no more of that and took another bullet but survived. You did the right thing, David Webb.
  15. PSU Recommendations for High End Gaming PC's
  16. Maybe it's a bug. MediaCoder releases are coming out almost daily.
  17. Link. I thought this was interesting enough to post before bed.
  18. JV16 PowerTools has an awesome feature to remove unneeded file and shell extensions.
  19. Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to sync with an FTP site and a specified directory on my local system and have it download changed/newly uploaded files automatically? Thanks, Jeremy
  20. I deal with SQL Server 2000 and 2005 Express, Standard and Enterprise Editions at work and Norton is poison to them. Use the latest Norton Removal Tool on it. Is the database on another computer? Same PC?
