  1. I admit I was an impulse shopper when I purchased Diskeeper Home Edition. My reasons for justifying it are as follows: 1. I am tired of nit-picking defragmenters. 2. I wanted one that handled everything automatically and silently. 3. I have not had a problem with fragmentation since I installed Diskeeper. 4. I will eventually be moving to Linux. To my knowledge, either fragmentation is not a problem in Linux or too few (if any) defragmenters support Linux. What are your thoughts on #4?
  2. Not sure but I do know that anything in a compressed archive will maintain the original modified date after you download and extract it. As an alternative, you could use FileDate Changer v1.1 from Nirsoft to manually change the modified date of a selected file (if you know it).
  3. AutoGordianKnot or MediaCoder (both freeware). I am not sure if MediaCoder does VOBs, though.
  4. www.infowars.com I know many of you know who Alex Jones is. I just finished watching Engame: Blueprint for Global Enslavement. It made me angry and I also cried. I feel compelled to share this with you and hopefully you will inform yourself by watching the movie. I did not find it on the website so I am not sure if it is free or not but I got it from https://www.isohunt.com (the encrypted version of the site).
  5. I would just like to update and say that following Martin L's contribution, we have managed to raise the necessary funds and my friend will be okay! Thank you very much to those who have supported in this cause. We greatly appreciate it. Take care, Jeremy
  6. Get rid of Nero and use ImgBurn.
  7. Isn't this topic getting a bit old? Everyone knows the worst OS in Windows ME. And for many the second worst is Windows Vista.
  8. Some numbers have changed since last night. They are the final numbers now. Sorry if they caused confusion initially.
  9. I have added more to my opening post.
  10. Thank you very much Martin L. I PMed you. As of right now, I have $100 / $690.
  11. Before I start this, I want you all to know that I am a person who would not normally do something like this unless it was very important to me. I have a middle-aged friend named Garry who lives near Taipei, Taiwan. He has been a friend of mine for 7 years. He is unemployed. His wife, who is handicapped, is employed with the local college. They have very little money or food. They have been eating nothing but instant noodles for the past 2 months because they literally cannot afford anything better. They have spent thousands of TWD (Taiwan New Dollars) in attempts to return to his home country of Australia. They will allow him to return but not his wife as she is Taiwanese and they would need to show proof of a sponsor in Australia that would be financially capable of providing for her medical expenses. As they have no such sponsor, she would only be granted a three month tourist VISA. Once that expires, they would send her back to Taiwan. He will not allow that. Even if they could both go back to Australia, they cannot now due to a lack of money. About two years ago they sold everything because they were (at the time) convinced they would both be leaving Taiwan permanently. They sold their car for 10% of its original value. They also sold most of their furniture including their bed. The problem is that in on July 11, Garry and his wife will be unable to pay their rent and will be forced out into the streets by their landlord. He will not allow this to happen to his wife due her health conditions. They will be forced to do what Taiwan considers the "honorable thing" and end their lives together and end their struggle. They cannot live on the streets as there are no shelters for the homeless in Taiwan. Quotes from Garry during our conversation on 6/29: Here's a quote from earlier that day where I told Garry that my wife said she didn't believe this was all true, real, legit: Some of you may be wondering what will happen the month after next, will my bleeding heart come back to MSFN asking for more? No, and I will tell you why. Their neighbor who lives 1 floor beneath them is Chinese and has a chain of taxi cabs. Garry has a plan for using and improving the models of HHO Generators that you see videos on YouTube of people talking about increasing their Miles-Per-Gallon (MPG) by supplementing via the air intake on their vehicles. He has been corresponding with a man from this site who has copyrighted and patented a unique design. Although the man has patented it, he offers an E-Book on how to construct the design for personal use only. Garry, however, intends to make several modifications to it (enough to be infringing on the copyright or violating the patent) and attract the attention of investors in Taiwan to begin generating and thus sustaining income. He is hellbent on this. Those of you that know me enough (Zxian, PuntoMX, Tarun) who I have already told and asked for help know this is real. My goal is to reach 20500 TWD which is $689 CAD / $676 USD). So far I have $100 with a promise of $40 from Martin L and $50 from a friend. That's $190. As of right now that's $500 left that I need. 20 people paying $25 each would cover that. If some are able to manage $50 then that is stellar. On Wednesday I am going to setup a means of money transfer via PayPal. This goes out to anyone on MSFN, and the family, friends and neighbors of those of you on MSFN, if you can help out at all financially, please let me know either in this topic or via PM. Thank you.
  12. Gingerbread motherboard with PCI slots included, now that is f*cking creative. Happy birthday, Cluberti.
  13. got a router so no need no pnp open either So your router monitors outgoing traffic as well? If not, a firewall (Comodo Pro which is free) is what I would recommend.
  14. I used to be like that. I used to waste hours pointlessly deleting files resulting in a crippled installation of a program due to having a warped perspective on what is important. 1. If you want to use a "slim" Nero, than just use Nero Lite Micro or ImgBurn. 2. Don't waste your time removing files when today's 500GB HDDs and 2x1GB of RAM are $80. This is 2008, not 1998.
  15. There is a Pro version which includes additional functionality but it isn't freeware (last time I checked). And if something isn't supported currently it doesn't mean it will not be included in a future update.
  16. JV16 PowerTools 2008 FTW! The developer, Jouni Vuorio, was one of (if not the) the first to code a good registry cleaner sometime before 2003 with RegCleaner. It was a freeware tool but now he develops JV16 PowerTools as a shareware product. Unlike many other registry cleaners that simply remove invalid registry values, JV16 also attempts to repair and delete if irreparable. His product is very optimized, frequently updated and offers a ton of features not only for the registry but for files/folders as well. Oh, and his trial version does not limit the functionality at all. You have a fully featured product for 30 days.
  17. I use Foxit PDF Reader. However, it doesn't seem to have manual text highlighting like Adobe Reader 8.
  18. I have (among 30+ others) and there's nothing it offers that you can't get out of at least one other defragmenter.
  19. It's a false positive. Remove it from the quarantined state and mark it as safe.
  20. I burned at 8x instead of 16x in ImgBurn and it worked.
  21. I Googled this for you. I suggest you reinstall / update the driver. Also, disable the ATI Services. Also, re/install .NET Framework 2.0 SP1. That should do it.
  22. This is a log from ImgBurn. ImgBurn.txt
