  1. I was at work, was on a call, and was troubleshooting a problem and therefore did not have time to install trials of different programs. You might like to try nCleaner as well. There's even one called DCleaner... Tarun, the point is that it cleans a LOT of junk/cache files and should always be run before a defrag. I ignore the bulls*** and keep my eye on the key points, which more people should do. The fact that it allows for the deletion of the Prefetch files is not a bug or problem. Some may find it unnecessary but others find it useful.
  2. I install this for clients who call in with software issues on occasion... Check out this screenshot... Clicky the linky I almost fell off my chair when I saw it. Try and beat that.
  3. I don't use anti-virus software anymore. No need.
  4. More co'ponentz remove plzz!11!1! ... Always nice to get back to your roots though.
  5. The official release date is October 9.
  6. It took me about 8 hours to beat Episode One myself. The second time around about 2-3 hours.
  7. Somewhere between September and November I guess. The games shop (EBGames) is about a 15 minute walk from here and I like to have the physical copy of the game so I'll be buying it that way.
  8. LeveL, try Beyond Compare.
  9. Half-Life 2: Orange Box will contain: Half-Life 2 Half-Life 2: Episode One Half-Life 2: Episode Two Team Fortress 2 Portal It's being released this Fall, assuming they don't delay it (again ). Regarding the latest graphics technology, it will contain: A better lighting model Better shaders Larger textures Take advantage of multiple cores Introduce their new "cinematic physics system" (which obviously make cinematic scenes look insanely impressive to watch.) Regarding the content: A new character A new enemy A new weapon A new vehicle Regarding the storyline: You'll learn a lot more about the G-Man. A major character will die (I'm assuming Alyx). Episode One was 4-6 hours. Episode Two will be 6-8 hours. I don't know about you guys, but this is my favorite game and when I buy this and play it, I want no interruptions whatsoever for the solid 6-8 hours (or more if it takes me longer). Half-Life 2: Orange Box (Hands On) Windows Media - High Definition Video (200.8 MBs, 4:28)
  10. Ah. I apologize.
  11. Obviously I wouldn't try it if it didn't say it in the changelog... we're not all as dumb as door knobs...
  12. I tried to start my VMware disk with VirtualBox and it just sits there with a black screen. Anyone else experiencing this?
  13. Are you blind? This reminds me of why I don't even bother with forums anymore... http://www.msfn.org/board/halo_serial_number_t98410.html
  14. I don't trust any uninstaller anymore. They always leave something behind. I use JV16 PowerTools to detect and remove files, folders, registry keys and entries left behind by software. If you're *really* picky you can use FlexNet AdminStudio to record and repackage programs when you install them and it will give you a list of every folder, file and registry key installed by that program. If you're into scripting, you could make a list of everything and specify it to remove all of them.
  15. Yes and yes. I do love freeware but sometimes it doesn't cut it, and we have bills and food to pay for, as well as a wedding in August and a child expected in January. So in regards to paying money for software, no can do for now. If developers are considerate, they will award beta testers with free licenses; like JV16 PowerTools.
  16. Whichever one you like and are used to? Why do you ask other people to tell you which font to use? Decide for yourself.
  17. IrfanView.
  18. http://www.filehippo.com/download_java_runtime/ Uninstall any Java you have installed and install this.
  19. nLite is for pre-install component removal. If you want to remove components without reformatting you will have to purchase XPLite.
  20. I went down that exact path before, although I used the Aston Shell for about a month before switching back to Explorer because I was losing my familiarity with Windows in general in order to help people with their problems. I wanted to reduce memory consumption as well, but ultimately just got more RAM and use lightweight software, problem solved.
  21. Ah, I've heard of SuperAntiVirus as being a virus in itself. I've tried 20+ anti-virus products myself and the 4 best are: AntiVir Avast! Kaspersky NOD32 Or you could just take precautions and use common/computer sense and avoid infections in the first place and not need to bother with an anti-virus.

    Help required.

Posting in the correct subforum and searching the stickies in them would provide you with answers to your questions...
  23. Techywiz, that is anti-spyware, not anti-virus. Most good anti-virus products such as NOD32 and Kaspersky recognise quite a bit of spyware as well.
  24. Need anymore threads to let us all know you've just discovered the UBCD that's been around for many years?
  25. 10x it.
