  1. Zxian helped me resolve this by doing the following: - Editing the sv_lan 0/1 to 0 in my server.cfg file so that it's an Internet server. - Enabling DMZ on my router. Thanks Zxian. Sorry for pwning you. puntoMX, apologies to you as well. Why don't you both team up and hunt me down.
  2. Will you ever see him back up his claims? Surely not.
  3. Program isn't functioning normally = reinstall. Always. Assuming you're not using a pirated copy downloaded off LimeWire that has a crap-a** "patch" or "crack" that's untested and simply corrupts the whole program.
  4. I'd use Acronis Disk Director. I've used it about 5 times in the past 2 years, never had any issues and it's done exactly what I needed.

    NLITE PROBLEM

Sure, if he wants to inflate his CD into a DVD using a boatload of drivers that are ultimately useless to him.
  6. Ok, let me start by saying this is really getting on my nerves. I use Hamachi for my virtual LAN or VPN or whatever you want to call it. About half a year ago when I made a server in Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, everyone who was connected to my Hamachi network that opened HL2DM could see my server listed under the LAN tab. Now, I have a router and the game uses port 27015 however Hamachi eliminates the need for port forwarding and even when everything worked fine, none of us ever needed to do port forwarding. We can ping each other and chat via Hamachi, but the server does not show up. I went through the Hamachi forums and made sure my default gateway for Hamachi is 5.0.0.1 and that my broadcast coming from the IP was 255.255.255.255. Basically, every "shot in the dark" they suggest I have tried. I am not running a software firewall or anti-virus or PeerGuardian or anything like that that would interfere with this. Does anyone know anything else I can try to resolve this?

    NLITE PROBLEM

You need to have the TXTSETUP.OEM file in the same folder as your INF/DLL/SYS/CAT files for your SATA/RAID driver. When you integrate these with nLite, a dialog box will appear asking you to specify the appropriate operating system. Once you do that, proceed as usual with making your ISO and then your SATA/RAID drivers will be installed without the need for F6 and a floppy.
  8. Nice signature, Bleaky.
  9. If I had $1 for everytime you copied and pasted this over the past few years, I'd own Microsoft. And how often do you restore with your Ghost image? Overnight? Once a week? In any case, you're forcing more activity upon your drive by constantly re-writting (overwriting) the data than defragmenting would ever do. But hey, someone showed me a link stating that disk-access did not factor into a drive's overall lifespan. I don't know how valid that is or if it is true, though.
  10. When in doubt, e-mail them or download the trial, install and see for yourself.

Download AutoRun and take a look.

  13. The feature itself needs a lot of work. It's nothing you're doing wrong.
  14. Yes, remove it with this.
  15. Normally when you click a desktop icon, it shows you all the text. However, when you click away, it will limit what you see. I know there is a tweak for this but I can't remember what it is. Does anyone know? Thanks. I know the shortcut says Steamless which is a potential indication of piracy but I do own the actual game but prefer my Steamless package for LAN games.
  16. You either recently acquired malware, installed/uninstalled some other software at the same time as defragmenting to cause that because all defragmentation does is move data around, it does not change any data. Use AutoRun to check what is loading at startup.

    NTFS tweaks

UltimateDefrag is a great program but their website and marketing are designed entirely for people born yesterday. Any defragmenter that can bring your fragmentation down to 0-1% and also perform file placement can achieve the same as what UD claims. They are by no means the first to do so. File Modification Date - File.doc was modified yesterday - File.rtf was modified today File.rtf goes before (closer to the beginning of the disk) File.doc because due to the dates, it is assumed that you use the .doc file more often than the .rtf so it gives priority to your most commonly used files while placing your least commonly used files nearest the end of the disk because their access performance is not as important. File Access Date - You opened the .DOC file in M$ Word yesterday - You opened the .RTF file in M$ today Same as above but in regards to access dates as opposed to modification dates. Bottom line: Is there any noticable performance difference between either of these methods? Negligable. If the files are completely defragmented and strategically placed in some way, the file read/write performance will be significantly improved (approx 40%) compared to a drive that has several thousand fragmented files and being 20% or whatever percent fragmented overall. There are other methods of file placement such as file/folder name (alphabetically), File Creation Date as introduced in the latest version of UD (1.64) released yesterday. Will it make your HDD any faster than it was with files arranged by either Access or Modification Date? No. Technically, there will be 4-10ms (or similar) ms (milliseconds) difference in the time it takes the HDD's arm/reader to go from one file to another depending on the order they are arranged, but still, performance will seem the same to the general user. During file access, the arm reader has to do many queries. From what I understand it goes something like this: If you have a file such as: C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\My Received Files\User\Image.jpg The arm reader has to query each subdirectory consecutively in the MFT (back and forth) until it reaches the actual file. So you double-click Image.jpg and the arm goes like this: MFT > C:\ > MFT > Documents and Settings\ > MFT > User\ > MFT > etc... until Image.jpg. UltimateDefrag also has an option to place directories (green) next to the MFT so there is less time/distance between back/forth queries. Now my understanding may be slightly off but that is the jist of it. Accurate if not exact. So when people debate whether PerfectDisk or Diskeeper is better, in regards to actual real-world performance, you will not know the difference. One of them goes by Access Date and the other goes by Modification Date. There are a lot of products that can do file placement, but some do not do it as well as others. PD, DK, Vopt, UD, O&O Defrag, MST Defrag, JKDefrag and a few others. There are about a dozen and a half more but are not to be bothered with. I hope this information helps. Anyone can feel free to clarify, correct or expand on what I have said.
  18. I'm impressed. If we had more people like you around I wouldn't cry myself to sleep so often...
  19. You removed too much like countless before you, redo your ISO from scratch. What I do is remove Accessibility, unneeded drivers, languages, multimedia and the old stuff like Windows Messenger and a few other bogus useless junk, leave all Hardware, OS, Networking and Services alone. What this does is slim your OS down by more than half and does not hurt your functionality. Video encoding, editing? Sure. Gaming? Sure. Office/Productivity? Sure. General chat/e-mail/file sharing/web browsing? Sure. Keep in mind I use all third party/freeware/open source software.
  20. Downloaded the ISO overnight and I'm not even into RTS games but it's free...... right?
  21. HL2DM Pro BF2 UT2K4 I haven't played the last two in ages. And yes, Zxian you DO need better hardware so we can play together.
  22. That's sort of the problem. I accidentally renamed a lot of the tags so if I use that method to change the filenames, I'll be twice as screwed. I was wondering if there was another method of identifying the mp3 on an online server to fix the tags and then rename the filenames afterwards.
  23. Then again, I live in Canada and not the US. If I rip music from an original CD and load it into Winamp, it is labeled something like "Various Artist - Unknown Title".
