  1. Tried F-Secure in VMware, 17 processes and 5 with the application "unloaded" via the tray icon... that's ridiculous.
  2. lol, last time I had upsidedown video was... 4 years ago working with DV. I had the Nimo Codec Pack installed. Uninstalled it and moved onto something better, reinstalled my DV codec, problem solved. But yeah, too many codecs. Possibly duplicates, or several different codecs for the same file type, things like that.
  3. The reason is because even though the majority of files that get updated we remove with nLite, there are still files from some components that are good to have updated. I agree that for the general user it's great and advanced users could just go get the few hotfixes they *really* need, but I like using the pack because whatever files still remain after I remove components, I know they will be updated.
  4. hear Hear! Or is it Here here... lmao
  5. Up-side-down video is a result of conflicts with codecs. It is recommended that you simply uninstall any codec packs you have installed and use something like FFDShow. The player with the video up-side-down probably uses external codecs/filters while the player that has no issues likely has the codecs/filters integrated into it.
  6. FileMon might be able to show what's causing it.
  7. Webroot is garbage. Use AdMuncher, Spybot and M$ AntiSpyware. Also, do a full anti-virus scan with Kaspersky or NOD32.
  8. Use Dial-A-Fix to try and re-register the DLLs. I had the same problem before and that fixed it.
  9. Got my other GB back.
  10. I would never use an anti-virus coupled with another software such as a firewall. I'd always recommend a standalone AV software.
  11. Why would the same company make two different anti-virus programs?
  12. The best way for me to say what I *really* want to say right now is: Please use the search function, or take 1.5 seconds to notice the thread titled "What Anti-Virus do you Use/Recommend?" located near the top of the Software Subforum, where you posted for very useful information. But since you seem to have some difficulty navigating the website, I took it upon myself to do a simple search for you http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=70783 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...p;hl=Anti-Virus http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...p;hl=Anti-Virus http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=16682 Also, this one which I can't blame you for not finding: www.av-comparatives.org A personal note from me: Kaspersky and NOD32 are the two absolute best anti-virus solutions out there. It doesn't matter which of them you use, they're both pretty much hand-in-hand. Cheers. *twitches slightly*
  13. $80... they must be out of their freakin' minds.
  14. Well, good for you. Cheers. Wow, let everyone else know where you got all that stuff for under $1000, then.
  15. Well, I'd say your headache is partly your own fault for spending thousands of dollars on these insane parts. A lot of people out there are so picky that they convince themselves they will only be happy with the absolute highest speced components. What they fail to realize is that they will be just as happy with PC 3200 RAM. I felt the same way you do now back when I was deciding on a video card for my system. I wanted a geForce 7800GTX, but I got a 6800GS, and I ended up being thrilled with it. The guys like puntoMX who really know their s*** will tell you, just as they told me, never go for the "state of the art" parts because you're just digging a hole for yourself that will take you longer to get out of than it did to fall in. Live and learn, I guess...
  16. So people don't forget that their e-mails are checked by NOD32? I guess it makes people feel even more comfortable in their pajamas...
  17. Interesting find! Thanks very much!
  18. Having two defragmentation programs isn't necessarily the best idea. Both programs have different ways of managing files, therefor it would essentially be a tug-of-war battle between DK and PD. Even though it may seem like a good idea, it will probably cause more harm than good.
  19. I use that as well and absolutely love it! www.dyndns.org Sign up, add your desired service. Done.
  20. Oh sure... MSFN Clan for FEAR, but not HL2DM... guess I'm stuck pwning n00bs forever...
  21. I'm using UltraVNC is it is awesome. To connect to my PC from work, I only need the vncviewer.exe. It may not be as fast as Remote Desktop, but it works. I don't like that Remote Desktop requires a user account and it locks up the PC it is connecting to.
  22. Yeah, only.. that's nothing! Only 1240 floppies. ....
  23. yeah, they're both pretty much hand-in-hand.
  24. Wow, talk about being picky...
  25. Artifacts can be caused either by overheating or outdated drivers. Update your video drivers if necessary, use a can of compressed air on your PC outside (not in the house!) and clean it out. Make sure the new cooler is working correctly.
