I have a Creative Sound Blaster Live! (WDM) sound card that was made in 2002. I have the XP x86 drivers but just did a clean install of Windows 7 x64. I tried the kx Project but my card is not supported. The model number of my card is SB0200. I searched Creative's website for devices supported and to be supported under Windows 7, but that model number is not listed. Ubuntu 9.10 sees my sound card and gets it working immediately. Does anyone know if there is a way to get my XP x86 drivers working in Windows 7 x64? Thanks, Jeremy

I just switched from Windows XP x86 to Windows 7 x64 this morning and stumbled upon this post. I love this feature because we have hundreds of pictures of our son (who will be 2 in January). I can sit down at any time and see a new picture. Awesome.

I did a manual override of the refresh rate in dxdiag and that fixed the problem. Thanks again.

I run Firefox and any downloaded files in Sandboxie which completely eliminates the need for security software as anything running in Sandboxie cannot affect the host system.

The game natively supports 1280x1024. I have played it before on this resolution about 2 years ago. It works fine on my wife's PC on 1280x1024. She has SiS integrated graphics. I will reinstall my nVidia ForceWare and see if that helps.

When this happens, I hear the introduction music but I cannot exit with CAD or Alt+F4. I am forced to restart. I have tried 1024x768 and 60 Hz as my refresh rate. I played this game fine on this system about 2 years ago but I believe I had a GeForce 6800GS 256MB back then. Same monitor, though. Any help would be appreciated. Jeremy

I have Googled about how to input a timestamp "t=xxmxxs" at the end of a YouTube video so that when you click it, it takes you to YouTube and plays it back at the specified timestamp. What I am looking for is a way so that the initial preview window you click on already is "pre-seeked" to that timestamp. I am looking to do this on my Wordpress blog. Is this possible? I am well aware. I have been using CCleaner for years. Cleaner, Registry, Uninstall, and Start-Up. Again, depending on what you use, you will not necessarily have a use for CCleaner. I have a friend in Taiwan who only uses portable applications. I introduced to him the other day to Sandboxie. I run my web browser and any new applications in Sandboxie. Nothing is written to the host OS. It's completely isolated. When you're done, you empty it and it is as if you had done nothing. Hence, no need to take action with CCleaner.

I believe that was obvious based on the amount of content I put into my posts back then. System performance was only 1 of many factors behind my motive for doing such a comparison. Sure, it gives the end user a feeling of organization and cleanliness to clean their registry, but to the hardware in front of them - it does not notice. Anyway, my whole point is that registry cleaners and uninstallers, in my opinion, are unnecessary because of what we have available today. We have virtualization software, portable applications run directly from flash drives, Linux gaining market share (2+% last time I read on Digg), etc. Undeniably, there's always a majority and minority such as Windows XP users versus Windows 98 users. The bottom line is that we have a very efficient means of preventing changes from being made to our systems which renders these programs useless. This is fairly well known amongst savvy techs, but the average consumer at BestBuy will still buy into it due to lack of awareness of what I've mentioned above.

I use Sandboxie and if the program does not work fully in Sandboxie then I use VirtualBox. Many members of this forum may remember my older posts on registry cleaners. I no longer clean my registry. This made a difference on computers 10 years ago, but not today's computers. However, I still do not appreciate registry data and files left behind as a result of lazy development of the application. The Windows Registry is ancient. I prefer portability and saving all configuration files to .INI, .CFG, .DAT, etc in the same folder as the portable application you're running. I run Firefox Sandboxed so if anything did manage to get through my firewall, browser and extensions, it wouldn't get far.

Greetings, I wanted to make you aware that I have a Wordpress blog and YouTube Videos frequently in the works. My grandfather was diagnosed with colon cancer last summer and I decided to research online rather than accept that cancer was incurable, which it isn't, regardless of what cancer it is. Anyway, I was skeptical at first but all the information I have found I have provided on my blog. Cancer is preventable and curable. The pharmaceutical companies and medical administration will have you believe otherwise. I'm only posting here because you sent me a PM. I rarely visit tech forums anymore. Once every couple of months if I am bored. Anyway, the only suggestion I can offer is to use Dial-A-Fix and select the option for Windows Updates and Cryptographic Services. If that does not work than I would say forget about that particular Windows Update. Use Firefox with NoScript & AdBlock Plus, get a router and use virtualization software like Sandboxie, VirtualBox or VMware Server to test stuff without the fear that it will infect your host PC. Backup your data, image your HDD. If you get a virus, use a virus remover like AVG or a trial of Kaspersky or NOD32. If you get hacked and someone controls your mouse and keyboard - disconnect your Ethernet cable or turn off your wireless router. I could go on but I don't really see the need to.

I personally would never use an online backup method. I'm in favor of performing my own local backup. I use Acronis True Image which backs up my system data, applications and preferences/settings every morning. If I had to burn it, being that it is about 11-12GB, would take 1 dual layer and 1 DVD+/-R.

Ever since the latest patch I have had more frequent crashes and I can't Alt+Tab as easily. I always have to End Task. I might reinstall tonight with the second latest patch. I've beaten Operation Anchorage (joke easy).

I like COD4 for the lengthy single-player. I like CoDWaW for the co-op.
