  1. I had this problem too, just put the command in a .cmd file and run that file. A different solution would be something like Alanolls Winamp MSI wich uses an .INI file containing the info wich parts should/shouldn't be installed.
  2. OK I tested latest 303 version (DUTCH): normally in Windows, (not during setup or whatever) WITH /qb /norestart switches, result: Windows restarts automatically! Now I tested same version with RunOnceEx, running and installing KAV @ T13 ... NO RESTART! Like I am used to! So this is the perfect opportunity for all people here to switch to a more efficient moment to install your apps. T13. If you use RunOnceEx like me, you only have to add 1 extra line to cmdlines.txt to execute RunOnceex at T13. BTW you can add as final line in your runonceex a file called runonceex2.cmd (or other name) that will run at the regular moment after first GUI boot. I use this to activate XP, install WMLite and start WIHU to create users. All your apps will install fine at T13. Only WMLite needs some unknown modification so I do it at the regular moment. edit: will post info + screenshot in a new thread tomorrow. Don't have much time.
  3. Kaspersky Anti-Virus (not talking about KIS, Kaspersky Internet Security) is by far the best. It uses waaay less resources, this has been tested over and over again, latest I read was in CHIP magazine. They were suprised about the memory usage of some other AV software like F-Secure wich uses more then 60 MB. Not only that, Kaspersky works fast, is one of the few best at finding dangerous stuff and it has an easy interface. The free AVG I don't like it's interface, KAV is a lot more user-friendly. You can download full version of KAV directly from their website (not the demo download). then you only need to get a license key.
  4. If you just want list-view, there is no big problem at all! it can be done with a simple regtweak... will post it 2night or tomorrow.
  5. It is not possible to integrate (slipstream) DirectX into Windows. Unless you go complicated with HFSLIP.
  6. If you want all Sounds except for the startup/exit, remove Beep driver with nLite and you're done. This will disable the possibility of Startup/Exit sounds. Kelsenellenelvian method is more decent, simply edits the Sound Scheme, if you select a different sound scheme, it might have startup/exit sounds enabled.
  7. Huh noo just wanted to check if it's normal there is no entry at all in cmdlines... not renamed.. never mind..
  8. This method hasn't changed since v6.0.
  9. Use Quicktime Lite, it has option to install browserplugins. http://ksphere.free.fr rembember that site! You can find ReaLite & WM Lite (usefull if you remove WMP+oldplayer+no compatibility) as well. Works fine here use it for more then a year. (With MPC).
  10. OK I did ONLY nLite 1.2 Beta + XPize 4.5.1 Lite (14-9-2006), everything well.. 2nd test: Nlite + Xpize + all apps & tweaks: no transparent icon (text). So it has something to do with my regtweaks.reg or a running app I think..
  11. Is it correct 1.2 Beta does not create a cmdlines.txt with this line: [COMMANDS] "rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection nLite.inf,nLiteReg" This line IS in my previous uaCD, added by nLite. note post#25
  12. Wow I like this one more then the previous finals already! Really the return of a Warrior... it looks better, I like it. Did see the same thrown exception as user Emodel! Perhaps needs a 'catch exception' there. It happened like this: Just after I imported 2 .ini's, I noticed KAV2006 became more active... I imported a 3rd ini and then I got the error. I shutdown KAV and other running processes (Live Messenger). Restarted nLite and it is running fine now! BTW, what is the benefit of merging driver.cab with the sp*.cab's? Whoops, now that Services has been merged with Tweaks, I cannot load my selections for Services from an existing .INI. I can only load the Tweaks part (wich doesnt contain Services ofcourse). Well that's normal with big updates.
  13. uhm, that's exactly what I did, but the command for deleting is performed after setup.. so after copying files. btw, it was more difficult to find the cause... solution is just to delete 1 line. I understand now why Nuhi choose this late option.. ofcourse not everyone disables WFP.
  14. what is the use of 'Windows' folder on partition A and D&S + Program Files on partition B? Those folders need each other, they are useless seperatedly. I used to think like this... back in Win95/98, 1 partition for programs, 1 for windows. It has to do with the old time when most programs were stand-alone apps. No Windows Registry or dlls needed. Just have your software (Win, D&S, Program Files) on one and data (Documents, Pictures, Music, Movies) on another. Perhaps a 3rd partition as working dir (just a lot of space to mess around with, editing pictures/sound/video or for games (iso)). Some people also say it is ideal to use your very first partition for the pagefile (virtual mem). And it should be 2.5x the size of your RAM memory. But since there is only 1 head, reading the harddisk, I do not think it would be really faster. Since the head would have to move from the OS partition to read the data to the first partition. If OS and pagefile are on 1 partition, the head doesn't have to move that much? Ofcourse there would be at least 1 benefit: no fragmentation of the pagefile. Since it is always on a clean and empty partition.
  15. Ofcourse you are right about that! And when I select to remove Cursors, it would not be very logic to leave the Cursors folder. But I don't understand why this action has to be after Windows Setup? I always wondered what the flashing cmd windows were, when the desktop is loading at 1st gui boot... I'm not sure but I think it's about deleting and cleaning up, wich is great ofcourse, cleaning up. But it seems to be at a very late stage. I am sorry I overreacted in my previous post. The whole search to the cause led to something soo simple..
  16. That's exactly how I feel about it. I can not believe people are creating uA disc and don't even have a decent cleanup.cmd. Same goes for a regtweaks.reg file.. now people can check the boxes in nLite for many tweaks... and after they use the CD they do not have a clue where errors etc come from, and it's hard to check out the regtweaks they checked.. so far, I like nLite 1.0 rc6 or 8 or dunnow if it was called beta the best.. after that other strange things where added... like this cursors error.. I have respect for Nuhi but it seems he listens more to the mass (unexperienced and asking-more-then-figure-things-out-and-learn people) users and sometimes forget his original idea/goal.
  17. Works fine with me 2! Also context menu is in Dutch, niceee. uhmm I miss the "Open" option, to open 7z (and other type) SFX files or .exe installers. Have to start File Manager now. Don't you miss it? Besides that, it works flawlessly, I extracted your Associator, 7ziptypes.exe (133KB), wanted to know how it worked (I was very curious). It extracted 2 files: 7zfiles.exe (5,5KB) and 7zip.reg. So I merged this reg file with my existing regtweaks.reg and run the 7zfiles.exe after 7zipicons.exe. Works just fine
  18. Will all these problems be fixed? in v7.0 xxx Labelflash was working for me.. not sure bout 7.2
  19. #@($*@# I have spend many hours figuring out why o why my "Cursors" folder got deleted... 1. I removed Cursors with nLite 2. my RunOnceEx starts at T13, one of the things it does: extract a .7z file containing Fedora cursors (so it creates a new Cursors folder), some additional themes and Vista sounds, Xpize settings etc. After first gui boot, I see my nice Fedora cursors, after 2nd boot, they are gone. I tested A LOT, at several moments. Now I now this: During Windows Setup, items have been added (by txtsetup.inf or nlite.inf) to RunOnce (not RunOnceEx). I have extracted the full key, see below. At first Gui boot, my (2nd) RunOnceEx is launched and when it finishes, it restarts the pc, it will NOT continue loading windows desktop etc. RunOnce will therefore launch at 2nd boot. It is at this moment, the cursors folder gets deleted!! GRRRR why Nuhi? the cursors have been removed during nLite process, perhaps Windows Setup creates the Cursor folder during Setup? but whyyyyy did you choose to delete it soo late, with RunOnce? it is the C part of NLITE.INF [C] HKCU,"Environment","TEMP",0x00020000,"%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp" HKCU,"Environment","TMP",0x00020000,"%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp" HKCU,"SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Driver Signing","BehaviorOnFailedVerify",0x00010001,0 HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_02",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%SystemRoot%\System32\dllcache""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_03",0x00020000,"cmd.exe /c md ""%SystemRoot%\System32\dllcache""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_06",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%10%\eHome""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_07",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%10%\Cursors""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_08",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%11%\Inetsrv""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_09",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%11%\Npp""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_10",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%10%\msagent""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_11",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%10%\Srchasst""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_12",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%10%\Help\Tours""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_13",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%11%\MsDtc""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_14",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 ""%11%\NtmsData""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_15",0x00020000,"cmd.exe /c md ""%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_16",0x00020000,"cmd.exe /C move /Y ""%SystemRoot%\System32\syssetub.dll"" ""%SystemRoot%\System32\syssetup.dll""" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_17",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection nlite.inf,nLiteReg" HKU,".Default\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce","nlpo_18",0x00020000,"rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection nlite.inf,S" BTW, here I have another VERY strange bug, I am starting to think there is a big possibility this NLITE.INF has something to do with it, I never experienced it before and been working with uA for few years now. PS: sorry I am soo mad, not at Nuhi personally... just mad this nlite.inf and RunOnce is the cause!
  20. It's nice you guys have edited stuff, published a modded installer and it works for you.. But how come the official installer works just fine for me? No reboot problems.. seems it works for T D as well. What is the cause?
  21. I discovered, when I disable Active Desktop in the registry (since it is already disabled/no active content in Desktop Properties) and reboot, the text is nice transparent! But then I can only use BMP files as wallpaper, no JPG OK new thing discovered: When I start XPize settings, enable Transparency, my background image ( a JPG file) disappears, and the desktop icontext is transparent. When I go to display proporties to set my JPG file as background again, I get my background back, and all desktop icons disappear! I right-click desktop & select in the submenu Show Desktop icons, but is was already checked! even when I copy a file to the desktop the file is not shown on the desktop... this is SO weird! Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
  22. OK and now check my post #94: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...mp;#entry562764 WinRar sfx or StarX or even msistub and Hide.exe aren't necessary, if everyone would just update to the latest modified 7z SFX module... instead of using the old official one
  23. Good research, but it isn't necessary to switch to RAR sfx or use StartX. I posted a completely new 7z SFX module, in the "How to make a 7zip switchless installer" topic. I didn't give the full documentation but enough to know this module doesn't need StartX, msistub, Hide.exe or whatever and it waits nicely untill all processes started by the module are terminated, before it quits. I did not create it and I actually found it because Shark007 told me about it months ago... but I think he uses an older version, the latest version ((april) is what I am talking about. I never stopped using 7z SFX + this very nice editable Live Messenger installer
  24. huuuh I really do not understand why it doesn't work for you guys! I download Kaspersky AV from the Kaspersky site, NOT the demo(!): http://www.kaspersky.com/productupdates?chapter=186435857 I download from the Updates section. It is the FULL version, needs the key to work. I use the DUTCH version wich is only available as Version 6.0.0.300. this is my command in RunOnceEx: REG ADD %KEY%\004 /V 2 /D "%CDDRIVE%InstallApps\SysteemOnderhoud\antivirus.msi /qb /norestart" /f and the regtweak a few posts earlier takes care of my key (so I do not need a .key file anywhere!). it is possible /norestart isnt necessary, but at the moment I am EXTREMELY frustrated about 2 strange Windows errors on my cd so I want to fix those before I test things like this. My RunOnceEx is started at T13, that might be the difference with you guys? I find this more efficient and a lot faster. I run RunOnceEx at T13 by adding a line to cmdlines.txt: this is my complete cmdlines: (actually now I see nLite has even added a line): [COMMANDS] "RunOnceEx.cmd" (this will add RunOnceEx lines to the registry) "REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg" "gebruikers.cmd" "CHKNTFS /T:0" "rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection nLite.inf,nLiteReg" "rundll32.exe iernonce.dll,RunOnceExProcess" (this wil initiate the RunOnceEx part from the registry) The last line makes RunOnceEx run after cmdlines. I always did it like this. BTW, after KAV, my RunOnceEx installs other stuff, then Windows Setup continues for a while, and then Windows setup will reboot, now the first Gui boot will start, and the nice thing is I see the KAV logo on the logon window, so it is active already
  25. Uhm is it possible not to show for example the security options at all when parse.... is set to 0? It would look cleaner and more slim. Also people will not be able to mess around with security options (they can check the box now, editing the security options). Same question goes for hiding parts like Name/Surname/Description and Registered Owner/Company. (I never ever filled in anything there). And will it be possible to create multiple accounts? I'll stick with Wihu for now but your tool looks very promising.
