It still does not install at all during T13.
-
it worked for me (on dutch windows) in VirtualPC, only installing my nLited Windows. btw I have a regtweak you might want to add to the installer! It will add "Extract to [name of file]" and "Add to [name of file].7z" to the context menu + it will remove "Test archive" from the context menu. ;7zip set language to Dutch and set contextmenu [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7-Zip\Software\7-Zip] "Lang"="nl" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7-Zip\Software\7-Zip\Options] "CascadedMenu"=dword:00000001 "ContextMenu"=dword:00000327As you can see it uses a DWORD value that tells 7zip wich items should be in the menu, for exampe 00000324 would perhaps remove "Extract here" (just an example) The 2 things it adds I use them very much.. don't use the test that much so to keep the context menu clean I remove it... took me a bit of puzzling because Regshot normally produced a lot of changes but I figured out how to make sure it only showed me the ones I needed Also I am planning to edit the 7zip part of the context menu even further, moving "Create ISO image" from the right click context menu to 7zip part of the context menu, this way my rightclick context menu will be cleaner. There will be a line (seperator) and then "Create ISO image". Don't know if the line is possible though.

Office Shrinker [reduce source of o2k3/xp/2k]
ZileXa replied to buckeyeXP's topic in Microsoft Office
What do you mean? you first removed components manually (how did you do that?) and after that you integrated SP2? That's logically not the way to do it... first integrate everything, then use Shrinker, and only use Shrinker in VirtualPC or so. -
I posted a more simple way here, but it has been removed? At least the moderator could say why, I only posted it becauseit can be simpler than what the first post says + pdmcmahon is open to suggestions. Well at least people should now: editing CONFIG.ini is not necessary, simply use firefoxsetup.exe -ms and you also trigger the silent install. Also there is an easier way to create your own default profile, using the -profile defaults\profile switch.

Uhmm, why a new topic asking the same q that has been asked several times in Hp38user's topic?

Office Shrinker [reduce source of o2k3/xp/2k]
ZileXa replied to buckeyeXP's topic in Microsoft Office
Unbelievable, after more then A YEAR(!) the Shrinker is still being promoted as "working for English... Dutch" while there is an error for Dutch users, wich has been reported in June 2005(!), wich makes it impossible to use Office Shrinker for Dutch MS Office. The fix is not that hard to implement (it is a translation bug) but it has not been done The problem, reported in June 2005: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> use microsoft office 2003 withuot sp1 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The fix: _____________________________________________________________________________________ I would like to point to a summary I wrote a while back, answering popular questions & problems that might occur: After shrinking, how to create a silent installer uA_Office2003nl.exe? -

On the MSFN link in that RyanVM topic (see my last post there) I also added 2 reasons why, despite the regfile, the Soundscheme still isn't selected.

yeah but whatever you do never rename XPize to Vistaize... that's the worst name ...

Your installer doesn't work for me... when I execute the created 7zSetup.exe, it seems it is getting extracted (the files do appear in program files\7-zip) but then I get this error: I am using Dutch WinXP SP2... antivirus terminated, all background apps terminated... Also, when installing at T13... it doesn't install at all... (not even a warning).
-
huh what's the problem with /S and 2 extra lines in your (already existing) regtweaks.reg file? I assume everyone with a uA Windows CD has a regtweaks.reg file that gets executed at T13 (from cmdlines.txt), right? This works perfectly for me.

hey Hp38user do you or Anyone else got the previous version of Dutch Nero Lite? that version didnt had the problem and worked just fine for me.

The reason I was asking this, nLite warns about the catlimit: And I want a fast Setup so I did nLite again removing the CAT files. I disable WFP and also the digitally signed warning so I suppose there won't be any problem. list of hotfixes I have integrated (RyanVM's Dutch updatepack from january (has QFE updates, thats why I still use the january version) + hotfixes after january): RVMUpdatePack1-06NL.cab WindowsXP-KB908531-v2-x86-NLD.exe Windows-KB909520-v1.000-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB911280-v2-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB911562-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB911927-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB913580-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB914388-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB914389-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB916595-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB917159-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB917344-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB917537-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB917953-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB918005-v2-x86-NLD.exe WindowsXP-KB918093-x86-NLD.exe

Could you be a little more specific? I have always used the .msi to install silently, getting same after going through the trouble of dealing with Macromedia nag registration to get the redistributable. What files does one need, and where does one drop'em? Thanks. Like I said, go to the link in my signature, read the info, download the file and read the info... it's easy as hell, not using an installer is the most efficient and quickest method for unAttended install.

or way more simple: 1. install Firefox using: firefoxsetup.exe -ms (the well-known switch for Mozilla apps silent install) 2. start firefox up with its default profile, go to Start> Run.. and type: "C:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe" -profile defaults\profile" now install your extensions and themes, modify Firefox to your needs, add bookmarks, searchplugins, tweak about:config etc. Don't forget, to install themes/plugins Firefox requires a restart, use the same commandline in step 2! 3. add the folders: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile" **"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\searchplugins" * "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\plugins" * "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\components" to a rar or 7z SFX and let it extract during Windows setup using RunOnceEx or whatever, AFTER Firefox has been installed. Actually I would recommend to create 1 giant 7z (not sfx) file, containing all apps that do not need an installer (like ExactAudioCopy etc) and containing all other files (like Windows Themes etc). You can add these folders to that 7z file and use commandline to extract during RunOnceEx or whatever. I have explained this so that even a 9 year old can do it. It is very simple, easy to maintain, speeds up the whole unAttended process. PLEASE NOTE: *:You don't need to install plugins in step 2. the Java installer will install the Java plugin, same goes for ReaLite/Quicktime Lite or Alternative (or original) and WMlite (with .ini files for the setup). Shockwave: the original installer contains YahooToolbar. Check my signature, mine (and other custom Shockwave installers!) does not have YahooToolbar. So you want to use a custom installer! But all custom installers DO NOT install the firefox or Opera plugin, I have added a SFX file to my custom installer containing the Shockwave pluginfiles for Firefox, so add these to your SFX. I also added the Flash plugin, you DO NOT need an installer for Flash! (Shockwave DOES requires to be installed, even if you already have the pluginfiles in your browser's plugins folder). This saves time (and space on your CD/DVD). **: some searchplugins you install will unfortunately be placed in Firefox\defaults\profile\searchplugins, move them to the folder I mention in ** and delete the folder in profile. HOW TO UPDATE? Very fast and simple: if a new version of Firefox comes out, simply wait untill your Firefox has been updated! Then, start Firefox from its defaultprofile like in Step 2, Firefox will now update all the extensions, don't forget to restart. Then add and replace the "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile" folder to your 7z or SFX For an even more Detailed Dutch guide, read Unattended Install CD Deel 3.

Use Quicktime Lite instead, ksphere.free.fr smaller then Alternative, always worked perfectly here.

According to Siginet it is not wise, problems with drivers could occur. Also it would NOT speed setup up. Altough it says so in nLite. Any comments about this? I'd rather go for stability, but if removing those files has no influence then I go for speed ofcourse. The option is under the Advanced button in the Hotfix Integration part. EDIT: I know about SFC, people say it's not a problem if you don't use SFC. But even if you don't use SFC Siginet doesn't recommend it (I asked in Siginet's forum why the option is not in RVM and I got that answer so now I wonder why it is even in nLite).

15 Minute XP Install with BTS, Apps. Autopatcher etc...
ZileXa replied to snag's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
15min? What are the specs of your system? My install, with updatepack, drivers (BTS), apps and lots of other stuff (1 CD) takes up 25 minutes on new computers (>=2GHz, 512/1024MB, new modern 7200rpm harddisk). And 35-45 minutes on older pcs (around 35 minutes on a 1.6Ghz/512MB Centrino laptop, 40-45 minutes on an old 1.0 Ghz Athlon/256 MB SDRAM). And on older computers (800mhz and lower, 192/128 mb sdram) it can take up 1,5-2 hours or more because of 7z compression etc. Just with RunOnceEx @T12/13 & a 2nd RunOnceEx for some final tasks at first boot + Wihu for user creation. -
No it has not, read the first post and check my switches. If you would have read my post before replying to it, you would have known I can start Coverdesigner just fine from Start Menu. So no problem ok Nooo it is a problem! I am used to the options in the leftbar, I always start Coverdesigner from that bar (it used to be on the bottom). Did you remove them on purpose? @T D: I don't understand that.. reshacking to bring something back?? also I think it's some dll...

problem with the Dutch version, v7.2.3.2b rev 1.2.0.2. This is the command I use: D:\uACD\InstallApps\Nero-lite.exe /VERYSILENT /TASKS="imagefile_assoc" /COMPONENTS="nero_toolkit\nero_cdspeed,nero_toolkit\nero_cdspeed\cdspeed_help,nero_toolkit\nero_drivespeed,nero_toolkit\nero_infotool, nero_core,nero_core\nero_express,nero_core\nero_express\express_help,nero_core\nero_api,nero_core\nero_audioplugins, nero_core\nero_audioplugins\mausau,nero_core\nero_videocd,nero_core\nero_sounds, nero_coverdes,nero_coverdes\coverdes_help" This is the problem, the leftpart of the Nero Express screen misses a lot of things (View Disc info, Erase Disc, Create covers/labels etc): Coverdesigner and all Nero Tools can be started fine from the Start Menu. EDIT: this problem did not occur with previous versions! Also it was installed on a clean system.

[Release] Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0.0.300 EN TRIAL
ZileXa replied to nDrew's topic in Application Add-Ons
the look & feels of KAV 2006 are a real bummer compared to the 5.xxx versions... also more messages popup, and the tray-icon isn't in the tray by default... I stick with 5.xxx (whatever the newest 5 version is). -
OK the bugs I reported were caused by the Dutch RyanVM's UpdatePack (January 2006)! Not an nLite issue!
-
Yeah I was considering doing that... just wasn't sure if it would be worth it.. I don't even have a theory of what could cause these errors... I think they are related.. problem is the laptop that runs VM fast is now screwed... I thought the new Setup (with keyboardlayouts) would work fine so I used it on the laptop.. but I will try on my PC... it's a lot slower but it should work. EDIT: OK so I used VirtualPC... and WinImage to explore the .VHD file (virtual harddisk). I opened the SETUPERR.LOG but it doesn't contain useful info, it's in Dutch but I attached it anyway. Renamed it to .TXT otherwise I couldn't upload it. it gives 2 messages (translation): Error: NetSetup: The name of this computer is according to the answerfile XP2-PC not unique within the network, the name has been renamed to GEBRUIKE-CNYBIY. *** Error: NetSetup: The section [Identification] does not contain valid information to become a member of a domain or workgroup. Since this is an unattended setup, setup will now continue and place the computer into the standardworkgroup. *** Very basic errors... not even real errors... about the first one: the pc I ran VirtualPC on is connected to the wireless network, and my main pc, also in the network, is called XP2-PC. About the second error: in my WINNT.SIF, section [identification] JoinWorkgroup = ... the name I entered here was too long... that's all.. So it doesn't say anything about the errors during setup. I did discover the following: At first boot, when I have to create users with WIHU, the keyboard doesn't work so I RESET the pc. Windows restarts and I have to enter my password for the Administrator to logon. --> at the moment I see the logonscreen, the mouse works for a few seconds! Perhaps the keyboarddrivers aren't fully loaded yet. very very strange huh.. Any other usefull LOG files I could checkout? EDIT2: what's the use of UBCD4Win? I have been using nLite since 0.86 like I said, and I create my ISO the old fashioned way with a batchfile and cdimage.exe... but I also created it with nLite.. no difference there. setuperr.txt WINNT.SIF
