  1. I have only played with a couple of SATA drives and controllers... But from what i have seen the speed currently is about the same as the equivent PATA drive. I have 2 Maxtor 200Gb Drives, 1 SATA, 1 PATA and they are working as a mirrored RAID with no faults. There is a very slight adventage to SATA drive in the temperature aspect though. the 2 drives i have both are vertical infron of the front case fans, and the PATA drive runs much cooler. For more information regarding SATA, visit: Free Dictionary = SATA Hope this helps you decide!
  2. Oooooooooo Nice ! But how hot does it get??? Has it melted your case yet? LOL
  3. Sounds good... Bit expensive for shades tho.... Not sure about the piccy tho! I bet these weigh a ton.... or there is a ipod sized unit which is the actual unit and the shade only have the Ear pieces... And posibly a small screen so u can read wots on it!! that would be totally Cool Think i'll wait till they come down in price....
  4. I have a Windows 2K server running a few web sites. The server will run quite happily for a few days, then all of a sudden the web access goes. The server can browse the web ok, but not itself. However a reboot will cure this, although the router also needs a reset occationally to enable the NAT translations to work again... Any one seen this b4 ? or know of a reason it does this?
  5. XP & 2K dont work the same way, having said that: Just create a folder on the desktop, call it something usefull, then just drag and drop the icons into it... Hope this helps.
  6. Sorted... Win 2k and Sp4 Don't accept over 128Gb drives until you regedit a 48bit LBA switch Once that is done, and a restart the drive appears in all its wondefully empty Bliss! Oh Joy! Thanx Guys

  9. Hmm.... I started thinking "She looks alright...." Scrolled down a bit more, thought "Nice Body, But a bit muscular".... scrolled down more and "OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That is just too scary for words! Ideal date for the prom though! How to get much respect from ur mates LOL
  10. I have never seen or heard of an aluminium "Coated" pack of playing cards. What is the ally coating exactly? However, there are pure ally cards available - but they aint cheap! Theres a site called I Want One Of Those there based in the Uk, but ship worldwide. They used to have them but i cant find them right now ! sods law... You could try Gagetmasters, or the Gadget Shop.... etc... Or once again, google may have the answers ! p.s. Way cool Gadget!
  11. I'm in the UK and can't say i've ever heard of is method of Sub Box construction. Have you tried a google search? However, There is a material your asking about that you used to be able to get from model shops for making model planes. If the material shrank to the basic form, then this sound vary simular to the stuff i have used in the past to make model planes - i use the iron on material which does the same job and not so messy. But the old material was faily strong and would take the same shape as the form. But i cant see this working with a sub box, due to the amount of pressure in the box - even if it was ported (unless the used some cheap low power sub). I have just built a twin 12" box for my JL Pro subs in my van, the amount of Sound pressure this creates is enough to affect your speach! and you can certainly feel it in your chest! So a box made of material and fibreglass would have to be very very thick to keep the pressure and mass correct for the sub. There is a very simple formula to convert between cm3 and Litres:- 1 centimeter cubed = 0.001 litres Hope this is of some help.
  12. My top 5 "Sties" lol or Sites! are: MSFN Google Search GMail Ebay Microsoft Knowledgebase
  13. What an id***.... Is he really that thick? if so, how the hell did he turn his pc on alone !!!!
  14. Lol... i have also seen many a 8cm cd in a standard cdrom !
  15. I have just found this.... If you don't believe me then copy the text into your spell chequer !
  16. %RAMD% is a microsoft variable used on the original install disks. If you want to use the same logical assignments, then you need to copy the whole section. But it is far easier to "set RAMD=x" then it wont change between pcs. where x is the drive letter to use. Bear in mind that certain letters cannot be used: A,B,C.... so use a letter down the alphabet so you dont get any clashes.
  17. I'm looking at buying an AMD 64... has anyone out there got one? are there any problems? do they run warm? Recomended Motherboards? any info would be helpful! Thanks!
  18. Is it NT4 Terminal Server? or 2k Terminal server? If you set the main screen on the server in 2000 then it should apply to the rest of the screens... HOWEVER if the TS connection is too low, the background may not show properly - if at all. I would automatic message when they log in reminding them to log off and then create the link to the logoff.exe file.
  19. Nice... Good luck for the next one then !
  20. I have already installed sp4... Should i remove it? Or can i apply the MS patch after sp4 ?
  21. I have yet to build a unattended cd... but for now... I have found this link on another forum: Maxtor BIG Drive Enabler I havent tried it yet, but i will let you know if its the ticket...
  22. Depending on the bios make/version... There should be an option "Power on by Keyboard" or simular. if this is set to off... it should only stop the pc turning on and off via this button... There must be a reg key or something that will stop a restart/ shutdown if this is pressed... The other option is to replace the keyboards with ones without the extra 3 buttons ! Sorry cant be more help than that, but if you dont have the time to disable the power keys, then this may be the only answer !
  23. If your really flash.... Create a wallpaper that points to the logoff .exe icon !!! lol
  24. Hi There, I have never created a CD before, and now reading through the forums i have now been convinced that is a time saving idea and one i should seriously consider. So i have a few questions that instantly come to mind, and no doubt more as i start to create my first disk.... I want to create a disk that is not 100% unattended. I need sp4, and the current critical updates (which will change) all on the disk. But i need the install to ask me about the pc name, and networking settings - as this varies at different sites. I Would also like to combine some mapped drives if possible, and is it also possible to install Ms Office 2k As well... Would this be possible? Many thanks
