  1. Are you sure you mean "Device" License? Catwalker is right, the client access licence is for terminal server. The per seat option should have been used, as all the clients should have there own licence.
  2. I Agree... All the networking needs testing, try moving the pc to another socket that you know works ! You shouldn't need to go as far as reloading the pc... maybe a repair to correct any damaged drivers and service packs. What is you current network? 10/100, wireless, etc.... You said you have tried another card, was it the same make? and definatly good? It seems a little odd tho... can you think of anything that may have caused it? i.e. lighting etc?
  3. Is the server for WEB Hosting, or network access? Is this the only server on the network with DNS? If you are just setting up an authentication server, then it should be inside the firewall. All the workstations should then use that server for the DNS resolution. Then all you need is the DNS forwarders configured Hope this is of some help...
  4. ACPI is working fine.... The pc turns off, the status LED goes orange. All the HDD's and Fans stop, the pc is dead. But the video card retains power and displays the image ! Bizarre !
  5. There is also a known problem with some motherboards, when you upgrade the memory above 128Mb, the ACPI fails... Whether this is your problem i dont know. But the fix for me was to press F7 when i installed w2k....
  6. I doubt what you want to do is possible. Why do you want to map shares before login anyway? The whole point of logging in is so that the windows security knows if you are allowed access or not. Until you actually login, the server will only supply DHCP info, and a netlogon anyway. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but i cant see a way of creating a connection to a share that wouldn't exist until authentication and permision is granted. A way round it is for the client pc to auto login, bu then you have no security unless you tie down the rights. Hope this is of some help...
  7. What OS are you using? and Are you using the standard windows security? or a third party package?
  8. I havent seen this, and it seems very odd.. All files in any MS OS are restricted to the 8.3 format - long name or not. But any file named "program.xxx" would be a legit name - it only has 7 chars. So why your version is asking for t to be renamed doesn't make sense unless it is being run from another program. - i.e. left over from an installer. Double check the root for anything called "program*" - make sure you have hidden files and folders shown and also check with a command prompt. If there is no file, create one ! see what happens... Hope this Helps...
  9. Hmm... i'm in, but the only rewards are for 700 points..... Am i looking in the wrong place?
  10. I use a silly little program i found many moons ago. Crescendo player I hope this is what you are looking for. You have to download and install it but its tiny, and it works quite well.... This embeds into a web page.
  11. Try: The Cloak It Works very well! Hope this is the sort of thing you are looking for....
  12. What is the Tech Data Corp? are our logins to this company notified to that company? Is this a real company?
  13. Has any one seen or heard of a fix for this? Basically the pc works fine, starts up, runs etc..... But when you tell it to shut down.... the pc shuts down and turns off. BUT the graphics card still displays the "shutting down pc" screen ! Any ideas?
  14. Why is the dhcp scope restricted to only 10 pcs? Are you also using a private range? if not, How many addresses are you able to have? Are you actually using RRAS?
  15. lol So thats why the heatsinks are getting bigger..... .... so you can cook more !
  16. Wow.... 10 Mb E-mails ! I still prefer G-Mail tho.....
  17. I recieved this e-mail... has any one else seen this before? I am assuming this is a scam.... I Do not have any accounts with them nor have ever heard of them! So this is warning to anyone who recieves a simular e-mail.
  18. Roaming profiles are ok on a small network with under 40 users. So with only 2 pc,s and i will assume no more than 10 profiles, it should be fine. However. The only way to make sure the .pst files are in the location on the profile path, is to move them onto the server and then re-point outlook to them. I have done this on a small network consisting of 2 2k servers, 10 2k workstations and 3 XP workstations. Hope this helps.
