Ok, thx. I'll give it another try. @MAVERICKS CHOICE: Will this method work no mather what you remove using nLite? Are there any components that are required for this method to work? Oh, one more thing. Why do actually have to use double "\" when using that registry entry?

Hi Everyone! I know that there has been a few threads about this, but I still can't seem to make it work. I thought that simple cabing the file and replacing the bliss.jp_ would do the trick, but I was wrong. I also tried this: ;Change the Default Wallpaper to the one you want [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\General] "BackupWallpaper"="c:\windows\web\wallpaper\image.jpg" "Wallpaper"="c:\windows\web\wallpaper\image.jpg" And that didn't work either. I checked the registry and I realized that this tweak didn't get applied at all. The "BackupWallpaper" and the "Wallpaper" entries are missing. How do I solve this the easiest way? Thanks guys! Marthax

Is your CPU OC'd?
-
I'm not sure about this, but you could try adding the disable hibernation entry in Winnt.sif by typing [Unattended] Hibernation = No Have you tried that? I'm not sure It'll do the trick, but try it out and I'll try to search for more info on this.

Disable My Music & My Pictures from My Documents
Marthax replied to Marthax's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I just said that this doesn't help. I need something to disable these folders from poping up as soon as I play a song or view a picture. These annoying folders keep poping up if I delete them. -
@Takeshi: Use SystemLocale = 2057 The above is if you want United Kingdom.
-
I didn't see that. Well, that could be the problem. Try bfletch.
-
@eirogge: That can't be it. I mean, if several people have the same prob. it can't be a coinsidence. The thing that pinion said only proves it.
-
Then why do MS tell us to us the [Components] part with unattend.txt if it doesn't work in winnt.sif? If it's the same.
-
Try to make it as cool as possible as higher temps. will shorten the life of your components inside your computer, especially your CPU. 56 degrees Celsius is a bit high, especially in BIOS, considering the fact that this will raise a few more degrees when you reach windows and start stressing the CPU. Also, you might want to have a look at this information that I found on a website about maximum CPU temperatures: I would try to keep my CPU idle temp below 50 degrees Celsius. Regards, Marthax

then forgot what I said. EDIT: @eirogge: I'm pretty sure that these settings are case sensitive but, what I said was partially wrong. Check this out: Calc freecell hearts mswordpad paint spider TerminalServer TSWebClient If it doesn't matter if you use a capital or low-case letter, then why does MS show us only a few of these programs with capitals and not all? This gotta´ mean something. Another thing I noticed just minute ago. These are the words of MS so I guess that you guys that wanna use [Components] with winnt.sif are pretty screwed. I mean, if the deploy information file tells us to use this with unattend.txt, what else can you do if it doesn't work? BTW, isn't Unattend.txt the same as Winnt.sif? I really don't understand this.
-
Use this in your winnt.sif file [Unattended] ProgramFilesDir="C:\My Program Files" You can change the default location of Program Files using this entry. Replace the drive letter and folder name as appropriate. [Unattended] TargetPath=\WINDOWS This option tells Setup the directory path that Windows should install to. Oh, and BTW. It's all on the UA site, you should have a good look at it Cheers, Marthax

I checked the official MS deploy file for any information about this and I found a long list with all programs that can be removed and I noticed one difference between the thing that you guys have been using and the commands that MS tell us to use. All services begin with a capital and perhaps this is why it's not working(i think that these kind of files are case sensitive). Msnexplr = Off not msnexplr = Off The space doesn't matter as MS uses it. Try it out and see if it works

Use this: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "AutoEndTasks"="1" "HungAppTimeout"="100" "WaitToKillAppTimeout"="1000" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control] "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="1000" I guess you know where to go from here. Best wishes, Marthax

In all your other examples you use *.exe while you don't do it when typing the above command. I'm pretty sure that's the fault. I always use *.filetype when I use taskkill and I've never had any probs. So it's supposed to be REG ADD %KEY%\020 /V 2 /D "taskkill /IM NLT4OfficeXP.exe" /f Hope that helps! Marthax

Could you perhaps show a screenshot of your XPCD folder with all the files in it and how the folders are arranged?

Not All Aplications is installed ..
Marthax replied to Svend Rugaard's topic in Application Installs
About your installation problems of some programs. It's hard to help if you don't know what installing package the programs is using, meaning that it would be a lot more easier if you posted the name of the installation package of each program that you have problem installing. That way I'm pretty sure someone we'll be able to help you with the rest of your progs. -
