Common mistakes by non-native English speakers

in his native language, and THEN translate it into English - thereby making mistakes. Again, whatever is read/responded, will again be translated back into his native language by his brain, introducing possibilities of mis-understanding. No, don't look at me! I happen to think in English and THEN translate thoughts to words in my native language. I agree. I find it extremely difficult and risky to think in my native language then translate into another. Some people may say it's not possible, but I tend to think that I don't think in any language, which allows me to be flexible when I speak. But when I do think in a language, I don't always think in my native one. However, it makes it a bit more difficult to translate aloud from one language to the other, because my first reaction is translating into the language im trying to translate from -
It's really nice. I like the two green objects flanking the center objects. After seeing all those build 4074 screenshots, aero + green = good. The avatar is nice, but it's hard for me to accept the new monkey. The old monkey was so light and happy and chill, but this monkey is all skinny and mysterious and "arghh im gonna attack you" or somethin. The Yellowish/gold circle on black reminds me too much of that wallpaper i see everywhere with the dragon and the symbol in the circle in the center or something ok I think i've lost you...

Common mistakes by non-native English speakers

I'm learning Spanish myself. Sometimes I wonder, when non-native speakers are taught English formally (in a class), do they teach the very proper English (with the rules I stated above), or do they teach the more relaxed, common, colloquial English like most people speak to each other? -
Common mistakes by non-native English speakers

Whence is only used when you're saying from "where." You use "where" when you say to where, in where, or at where lol . Shakespearian writing/speaking is so difficult. Thou art proper, and thy English is thine. Nay, I dare not meddle thither. I must refrain from speaking in this manner whilst online lest I be smote for flaunting my erudition, which is all for naught. -
Common mistakes by non-native English speakers

Some common mistakes by Native English speakers: 1. Improper use of direct object in statement of comparison (Correct: I am taller than he) 2. Improper use of direct object with predicate (linking) verb (Correct: It is I!) 3. Improper use of subject pronoun "who" (Correct: from whom, to whom, with whom) 4. Improper use of adverb "where" (Correct: From whence did you come?) 5. Lack of subjunctive mood (Corrrect: I wish I were 1337) -
Do you think it is so much faster that it could persuade current PS2 owners into getting the slimline? Allos, thanks to the infrared port, being able to use the remote without having to plug in a thing to the controller slot is a big plus (yeah, I have the oldest US PS2 model [7 days after initial release ]) BTW: I like Kasumi

Warning: Extremely profane and lude This is one of the funniest pieces of writing I have ever read (a graded essay on Oedipus Rex). Well actually, it's just really funny that someone would actually submit this to be graded. Just in case you guys haven't seen it before: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/image/essay/

@gamhead200: I used the mac lab in school a few years ago too. I think that only reason I would ever get a mac would be for the GUI, and since I can pretty much copy the pretiness on my PC, I won't be switching anytime soon. @MCT: If it's not too much trouble, could you tell us how you got windows explorer and/or image viewer to look like that?
-
@gamehead200: After the hundreds of desktop screenshots on this forum, don't you have an eye for windows yet ? Almost anything is possible when making Windows look like something else. I've fooled some Mac users with panther styles ony my copm, but we should make the skill of discerning operating systems another advantage we have over them.

Firefox for me. It can be a pain to load up if you have a really slow compute but it works fine for me. I tried Opera once or twice but I can't put up with banner ads.

I used to drink diet pepsi all last year. Now its just normal pepsi for me. I would stop drinking soda entirely, but I need caffeine and I dont like coffee or tea. -
Because most of the world doesn't go through those 6 years of college, and so most people don't have the kind of logic to see that people smarter than they should be running the world.

Does they still sell the old fat one? Cuz it would suck if newcomers wouldn't be able to get the hard drive.

I like the coffin fish. I think it would make a nice hat. -
what in your opinion is Americas Favorite Pasttime
Tokugawapants replied to Synapse's topic in The Poll Center
I think baseball is America's favourite pastime. pr0n is great, but I mean its not something you can have your whole family watch and enjoy. I personally like football the best (out of the sports), though. -

I frequently see these types of things and I'm only disappointed. I'm not saying that these are not realistic, they're amazing, but people are doing this kind of thing too soon. Maybe in a couple of years when graphics and skill (mostly) are better. Textures and lighting look real, but the physical structure of bodies and faces are just not real, and people don't add in the imperfections that todays cameras have.

I think blogs are a waste of time and an invitation for stalkers. Almost everyone I know has one and I look down on them for it.

Sounds cool. Kind of off topic but speaking of America's Army, does anyone know when the console version is coming out or did they totally scrap that idea?

The PSP is amazing. The screen is huge, the controls are awesome (the analog control thing isn't like a stupid laptop stub, i can't explain it, but its just as good if not better than a joystick), MP3 support, movie (UMD disc) support, multiplayer via ad-hoc wifi, almost PS2 graphics, frame rate is awesome. My friend got a PSP and I was in shock when he played it. I don't see why people like the DS so much. I played a couple of them, the graphics are horrible, the controls are awkward, the screen(s) is(are) tiny (yes there are two screen but one of them is usually just a map or something). The game selection is also horrible (the only one worth mentioning is Super Mario 64 DS), while PSP has games like Gran Turismo 4, Metal Gear Ac!d, dynasty warriors, Armored Core, etc. I'm not a Nintendo hater. In fact, until PS2, I hated Sony. It's just Nintendo loses this time. I want a PSP NOW.
