  1. (Also, if you haven't tried already) try running Windows XP in safe mode. If it doesn't take a very long time to load and it doesn't hang, then there is probably some spyware/adware/bad program running itself during normal Windows XP and is using up the CPU. In addition to Curv Ball's suggestions, you could also run Ad-Aware or even simply a virus scanner (I have used Norton to remove spyware/adware that Spybot and Ad-Aware could not find)
  2. With that CPU I wouldn't recommend anything more recent than ME. I have a 733mhz CPU on 98SE and it works fine. I do a lot of photo editing on it too. Since you want a wireless network, 95 is not your choice. I think 600mhz running XP would be simply unbearable for anyone. I don't know about NT (I'm not too familiar with it). I would stick with 98SE if I were in your shoes.
  3. Toronto Argonauts, because they have the coolest name (sorry, I don't follow the CFL).
  4. Actually I wouldn't have the BPM 37093 considering that the surface temperature could be anywhere from 6,000 degrees kelvin to 100,000 degrees kelvin, and even if it were the diamond alone, the gravitational pull would squash me against the extremely hard surface. But then again, I guess it's better than the sun, which just has a stupid iron core. However, I wouldn't get as much energy or light from the BPM 37093 (it's brightness would be about .01 times that of the sun) as I would from the sun. As long as the person doesn't promise me a neutron star, I should be ok (100,000,000,000 g's, 1,000,000 degrees kelvin, 1,000,000,000,000 gauss magnetic field, rotating at about 100 times per second). P.S. For some reason, some sites say that the diamond in the BPM 37093 is 10^46 carats while others say it is 10^34 carats.
  5. I checked my profile, and the user's (my) local time is incorrect. Is there any way to set my timezone? Thanks.
  6. I think a portion of that age group could vote for "involved."
  7. A few things that make MSFN great: Good, Relevant, Clean, Legal Fun Everyone is extremely friendly to each other (and definately no explosions of anger), most things stay on topic and therefore are appropriate for any child to read, and everything is legal. International Community Lots of people from lots of countries (and the fact that we can easily see that). Quick Response I've seen other boards where it has taken weeks or even months for people to resopnd to urgent problems, but here I can expect an excellent response in a day but usually less. Last but not least: Desktop Screenshots This board has the most impressive desktop screenshots I have ever seen, at because of that, it is my favorite topic.
  8. I'm from Asia too (Japan) but I did a null vote.
  9. New York Jets.
  10. No pictures? Aww. I hope this doesn't turn out to be anothe case of The Moonstone
  11. Try temporarily killing the explorer process (go to task manager > processes tab> right-click on explorer.exe and select end process tree, and click "Yes). Then try restarting explorer (task manager>file>new task>type in explorer, press enter).
  12. Very true. Actually, for this forum, I would have expected even more of a landslide. I think that most people just don't bother to vote because it should be such a landslide.
  13. Perhaps, but my buddy list has way more girls than guys, and just about all the people my age that I know without screenames are male. Then again, I''m just weird.
  14. I know that you can't skin it using a shellstyle (with programs likes StyleXP), and I haven't heard of a way to do it otherwise. Microsoft explains this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;306509
  15. I couldn't find the anime one people were talking about, but I found some that kind of match in terms of colors. Royalty Norton Antivirus MRS Dream DarkBuggy Sunrise V2 Colorpack
  16. Yup, WRC is World Rally Championship. I like Solberg too, especially because he drives a Subaru
  17. My situation is kind of like that. My laptop sayz 860 mhz and my dekstop says 733 mhz, but my desktop is noticably faster, perhaps because it's running Windows 98SE while my laptop is running XP Pro, and also probably because my laptop's processor is a really low voltage one because it wants to have a long battery life (virtual PC says it can't run because the processor needs to be at least Pentium II or equivalent). My laptop also has more RAM than my desktop (364 mb vs 160 mb), but it still seems a lot slower.
  18. Device: Fujitsu Lifebook P2110 OS:Windows XP Professional Build 2600 Processor: Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 Processor @ 867 mhz RAM: 384 MB DDR Hard Drive: 30 GB Video: ATI RAGE Mobility (8MB) Audio: Sigma Tel AC 9757T Screen: 10.6" SXGA @ 1280x768 Peripherals: DVD/CD-RW, USB Floppy Drive
  19. If you so happen to have a DVD burner, you could use a program like DVD Decrypter to burn a DVD directly from the ISO. It is possible to use Longhorn as part of a dual boot system, but I believe you have to be running Windows XP first.
  20. All politicians are corrupt. Moore can be a bit immature sometimes. As you can see, my country is Japan, so my comments are going to be a bit biased. I think that Moore doesn't have the qualifications to make statements about foreign countries like Japan. He lives in North America, and its a completely different situation there. It's not like Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi really had a choice concerning joining the US in Iraq. There would be so many bad consequences for Japan if he didn't make that decision. The problem is that, although all politicians are corrupt, it is often that the worst ones hold the most power.
  21. Formula 1 all the way
  22. Also, Microsoft has taken the position that free, open source programs hurt the economy. I'm sure that Microsoft has also made some software friends in the business, and Microsoft wouldn't let them go bankrupt because of free alternatives. In addition, althought being able to customize is a good thing for the user, it makes tech support much harder if not impossible.
  23. FFX-2's "Good" ending requires that you make a specific event happen at a key moment in the game, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I wont say what it is .
  24. I'm not trying to be mean to anybody. I guess I came off a little rude didn't I? Oh well. I'm just putting out what information I have. No hard feelings . And yes, my pants are smart.
