  1. Using REG file also able to intergrate RMV pack. Which leads me to think whether RMV pack can be integrate at T13 w/o any tweak. So I did another test. ==> Found able to integrate w/o any tweak. Works right out of the box. (Place RMV version in HFAAO) Since WDS takes up a big space in the taskbar, u can consider Tray Pilot Lite to go with it. (Even though u can right-click taskbar->Toolbars-> and uncheck WDS) Screenshot Looking at Rick's srchasst.inf & Entries_Windows_Search.ini, I think it requires a great effort and great inf-knowledge to build this true addon. Note: It is uninstallable as it is not listed in Add/Remove Programs (edited on 29/12/08)
  2. Haven't tried with this combination yet. So far, I have tried 1) REG file with silent switch (all in hfsvcpack) & WDS is not installed at all. 2) just nlite version, not installed at all (even with cmd command at hfsvcpack) 3) 1st post method (REG file in hfsvcpack & silent switch via HFGUIRunonce) works. If using REG file in hfsvcpack, to be effective, it requires reboot to takes effect. Hence can only works in HFGUIRunonce 4) CMD command in hfsvcpack + silent switch in hfsvcpack also don't work at all. 5) CMD command in hfsvcpack + RMV pack works I'll try to test again in VM as per your suggestion when I get the time. (Anyone wish to test r welcome:-)) BTW, I don't use WDS. All test are done on VM only. No real install. I try to provide what works since I comes across hfusers having problem integrating this piece of software. Lastly, Merry Christmas to everyone.

  4. HFslip 1.7.9 is still beta... pls be patience for tommyp to fix these issues. As far as I know, he don't use XP. He's on W2k. (I hope I'm right). So it may takes a little while to fix... Suggest keep testing /reporting the beta version while still using 1.7.8 as the main script

  7. Rick, could u show how to create the service as u mention so that user can also use your addon? == found to work with RMV package Console command is : sc config termservice start= auto Tested on VM ok
  8. Windows Search 4.0 (WS4) - Silent Installer WindowsSearch-KB940157-XP-x86-ENU.exe This is a silent installer made to run via HFGUIRUNONCE. Installer Filename: WS4-KB940157-XP-x86-enu.exe 5.43MB MD5:F6071D26F6721E0E75FC7FA8D68B8939 Switch use: /Q /Norestart Uninstallable: Yes Tested on hfslip-1.7.8 More info can be found here == Latest: Use Rick's RMV pack to intergrate at T13 instead (HFAAO). No tweaks required. == Notice RMV pack does not have uninstall feature in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel == Tested again on 1 Jan 09: Reg tweak at T13 not required when run via HFGUIRUNONCE ==Edit: add on 9 Feb 09 === You can convert to RunOnceEx (instead of HFGUIRunOnce) using HFEXPERT\AUTOIT Folder. Advantage is : Run from your CD source + visual indication Put these 2 files in HFEXPERT\AUTOIT folder (3rd file, AutoIt3.exe is required in order to use AUTOIT folder): 1) WDSRnOnceEx.au3 2) WS4-KB940157-XP-x86-enu.exe (remove from HFGUIRunOnce if any) --3) requires AutoIt3.exe (as well). Can download the autoit program in self-extracting form (ZIP) and put only AutoIt3.exe in this folder Sample Screenshot during RunonceEx:
  9. As u did not state where u got the driver from, it is better to download LAN driver from Toshiba Manufacturer website.
  10. KB955839 will change my timezone to Kabul. I did not include this hotfix.
  11. I went to EICAR for 4 virus test files as recommended from this post So here is how CA AV react: Test 1: Attempt to download failed. --> Get around: Disable the protection temporary So downloaded 4 files Enable back CA AV protection Now, when I right-click the 4 files to attempt to scan, it automatically generate a virus message & deleted 3 files (except eicarcom2.zip) My Conclusion: CA AV able to detect automatically & removed the files with the exception of virus file which is 2 times zipped Next, I tried to unzip eicarcom2.zip to its subfolder. Now, it throw up another warning message & the virus files is automatically deleted. So I end up with empty subfolder eicarcom2 Test2: I downloaded the 3 files again to directly. Execute the eicom.exe file, immediately deleted the files with an infection alert message. Execute eicar.com.txt & eicar_com.zip also gets deleted automatically with an infection alert message. Execute eicarcom2.zip brings me down to 1 folder level (within the archive) in explorer. Execute again generated an alert message but did not delete the virus file. So concluded CA Anti Virus able to protect me but is not able to self-disinfect for files that are double-archived. If fact, it it able to let me download eicarcom2.zip even with protection status ON. Frankly, I have never heard of CA AV, so I just give it a try. (Beside, the installer size is relatively small to slipstream) === R your fav AV having this kind of test result? or even better? Post your test if possible. Just curious to know since the av comparsion chart put CA AV at low rating.
  12. Info about this Review Comparsion
  13. @Dude111 Thanks for the link. Going to test & slipstream into my unattended Xp ==> Test in Virtualbox works Best things is : It works with my Spyware Doctor with Antivirus, starter edition pack. http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/2997/cajx4.png
  14. Forgive me for suggesting another alternative. How about try HFslip if OEM folders things gets too confusing for you. Personally, I find HFSlip much easier to work with especially the Program files/windows folders etc (if u read the instruction on it's website ). Besides, it takes switchless silent-application exe (w/o the need for entries.ini stuff like that) Also GUIRunonce is much easier to implement. Just my view...
  15. U can check your registry. If this registry key exists, then your Runbox will not be shown (in both XP Theme or Classic). Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoRun"=dword:00000001 If the above key exists, u can delete it using command line tool reg.exe with the following: reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v NoRun /f Logout, then login again to see changes.
  16. Sorry, I can't help as I am not using nlite. Maybe someone with nlite experience can helps... good luck

  22. Give this a try : YourDir Can save output as .csv or .gif or both if u want
  23. U can try reading what is the default profile using script. Try running this script at T13 (Just an autoit script to display current profile directory. Will timeout 6 sec after the display) MD5:B5170BC9B1B83DA3AC16831DE1FE451A Once u know the actual dir, then u can start using your own script the next round. Code use: $Default=@UserProfileDir MsgBox(0, "Current Default Profile", $Default,6) Hope this help...
  24. Use tools such as Startup Control Panel or autoruns to view startup entries. Be careful and edit /delete keys you are sure of as it involves editing the registry. (always backup your registry first)
