  6. Just curious if support for IE8 coming soon? Just out of curious, I integrate Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 Public Beta 2 by johndoe74 into HFAAO, along with IE7SVCPACK=1 in HFANSWER.ini While tested ok using VPC ( it works during post install), I was wondering if there might be any possible side impact which I might not know. Or can it be remove with IE7, and straight use IE8 package made by johndoe74 or any other possibilities? I'm also hesitant about putting it on my real m/c since HFslip has not yet start supporting it.
  7. Why you don't care that it is on your computer? Just curious to know why. The way to discover where it is hidden has been suggested by DigeratiPrime. Use Process Explorer. You need to learn how to use some of these great tools to sniff out possible spyware. (Yours is more like keylogger program). Spyware are really evasive. Lastly, go to add/remove in control panel and uninstall the program (since you know it was installed intentionally). But I doubt the prorgam is listed there for you to remove. Hence you need to do some tracing...
  8. You can also try the following: Run autoruns , from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and look for suspicious startup program among various startup enteries within the autoruns GUI. The fact that you still have virus alert shows somehow the infectious program manage to attach itself to critical process (usually startup item) Try Spyware Doctor with Antivirus starter edition (http://www.download.com/Spyware-Doctor-with-AntiVirus-Starter-Edition/3000-2239_4-10816521.html)- Remove AVG 8 first before installing You can aslo use RegDllView to view suspicious dll and unregistered it. Usually they are in system, system32 or program files folders Once downloaded the 3 programs & installed, remove your internet connection and scan+ investigate further and see how it goes... good luck

Q. How do you know that Firefox is running in reduced privilege? A: Well, Start SaferFirefox thru the start Menu. Try saving this webpage in C:\ or C:\Program Files or C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 If you get a warning message, asking you to save to My Documents instead, then Firefox is running in reduced privilege. (which also means spyware can't infect your critical system directory) Note: It will also block registry writing to HKLM if any (but not HKCU). However, if you are installing Firefox extensions, then don't run in Reduced privilege. (Note: DropMyRights does not works on Vista)
  11. It's website says "Works with Windows 98 / ME / 2K / XP" but scrolling down further, later says Windows Vista New! RegEditX work on Windows Vista. However, it needs to be Run As Administrator. Pls tested under Vista at your risk. (I don't have Vista to test) I only tested & works in XP Pro.
  12. Not sure can work in 64 bit or not. And I don't have the x64 OS to test. Use at own risk, I guess.
  13. RegEditX makes your registry editing more productive than ever. RegEditX extends the standard Windows Registry Editor (REGEDIT), so you don't have to learn new ways of accomplishing tasks you already know how to perform. 15. I use registry tweak to view .diz & .nfo file with notepad. It's the easiest way without adding additional software. You could give it a try. 16. Just a note: Windefender-RUNONCE-ENG.exe (from your svcpack.inf) and ThreatFire-3.5.0.21 (from your last-session.ini) are more suited from RunOnce location. Suggest you remove 2 programs out first for your testing.
  17. Try this site http://www.msfn.org/board/Pin-To-Start-Men...ved-t40866.html I wanted IE & Agent Ransack only (No Email icon). Works for me.
  18. I remembered when I want to change the default XP theme in HFSlip, I search the forum for some answers but could not find any complete informations. There are some post mentioned in MSFN-nlite & RyanVM forum but not in HFslip forum. After some searching, most useful info is from Gosh, plus trial & errors, I finally got it working in HFSlip. Hence sharing this info with HFslip users. After all, default XP theme is so old now. BTW, this method is useful only if you use user-attended mode or without Winnt.sif method. First get your fav theme. Majority of themes can be found from various forums :(MSFN-nlite, RyanVM or Wincert.net) Here is how to make your fav theme as default theme : As I like Kel's Midnight theme v1.8 by Kelsenellenelvian, I choose this theme as the default theme for demonstration. Making your fav theme to your default theme mainly consist of 3 parts: Part 1: Modify your fav theme to fit the default theme requirement Part 2: Insert Default theme inf Part 3: Included a patched uxtheme.dll accroding to your OS (or see post #10 for download link for English XP) Part 1: ===== Download the theme & modify the following: 1)a. Unpack Themes_Kels_Midnight_Addon_1.8.cab to it's own subfolder b. Unpack MIDNIGHT.CAB to its subfolder again. Convert Midnight Blue.jpg to Midnight Blue.bmp using any image editor Remember to delete Midnight Blue.jpg c. Edit 'Midnight Blue.Theme' using any text editor: (I use notepad++) Scroll to [Control Panel\Desktop] section Change Wallpaper=%WinDir%Web\Wallpaper\Midnight Blue.jpg to Wallpaper=%WinDir%Web\Wallpaper\Midnight Blue.bmp d. While we are editing, you may want to change [Theme] section [Theme] ; My Computer From DefaultValue=C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe,0 to DefaultValue=%windir%explorer.exe,0 ; My Documents To DefaultValue=%windir%SYSTEM32\mydocs.dll,0 ; My Network Places To DefaultValue=%windir%system32\SHELL32.dll,17 ; Recycle Bin to full=%windir%System32\shell32.dll,32 empty=%windir%System32\shell32.dll,31 e. There are 3 more themes (Midnight Green.Theme, Midnight Grey.Theme & Midnight Pink.Theme) which you might want to convert to environment variable style Save Midnight Blue.Theme, Recab back the whole folder back to MIDNIGHT.CAB (& remember to delete MIDNIGHT folder) 2) Next, decompress MIDNIGHT.IN_ to MIDNIGHT.INF Replace any text reference of 'Midnight Blue.jpg' to 'Midnight Blue.bmp' (use the Find/replace feature in your text editor) (There are only 2 text references to replace) Edit the following: [SourceDisksFiles] Midnight Blue.jpg=1 <-- located at line 54 [wall] Midnight Blue.jpg <--- located at line 141 to [SourceDisksFiles] Midnight Blue.bmp=1 [wall] Midnight Blue.bmp Recompress MIDNIGHT.INF back to MIDNIGHT.IN_ Then Delete MIDNIGHT.INF 3) Repack the whole package back to Themes_Kels_Midnight1.8.cab (this is now the modified one) Give a slightly differently name, such as Default_Themes_Kels_Midnight1.8.cab Part 2: ===== Create an .inf, say DefaultthemeMidnightBlue.INF in HFGUIRUNONCE folder with the following code: (attachment available for download, after the codebox) [Version] Signature=$Windows NT$ [Optional Components] MyThemesRegTweaks [DefaultInstall] OptionDesc ="Registry Entries" Tip ="Registry Entries" Modes =0,1,2,3 AddReg =REGEntries.AddReg DelReg =REGEntries.DelReg [MyRegTweaks] OptionDesc ="Registry Entries" Tip ="Registry Entries" Modes =0,1,2,3 AddReg =REGEntries.AddReg DelReg =REGEntries.DelReg [REGEntries.AddReg] ; Reg2Inf v0.37 - http://tinyurl.com/fgqyf HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes","InstallTheme",0,"%%SystemRoot%%\Resources\themes\Midnight Blue.Theme" HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\LastTheme","Wallpaper",0x00020000,"%%SystemRoot%%\Web\Wallpaper\Midnight Blue.bmp" HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\LastTheme","ThemeFile",0x00020000,"%%SystemRoot%%\resources\Themes\Midnight Blue.Theme" or download DefaultthemeMidnightBlue.inf here DefaultthemeMidnightBlue.INF For changing to other themes of your choice, you need to edit DefaultthemeMidnightBlue.inf file. Under [REGEntries.AddReg] section, modify the 3 system paths accordingly to your own theme. Part 3: ===== Download patched theme uxtheme.dll with XP SP3 version 6.0.2900.5512_EN.rar. Extract the package until you see uxtheme.dll You need to compress to uxtheme.dl_ format Where to place the files: Put Default_Themes_Kels_Midnight1.8.cab in HFAAO folder Put DefaultthemeMidnightBlue.INF in HFGUIRUNONCE folder Put uxtheme.dl_ in REPLACE\i386 folder (create the folder if doesn't exist) Done. Pls test in Virtual PC first. Suggested Tools: ---------------------- 1) Add the following cabtool registry tweak to your OS. These will allow you to convert .dll to .dl_ type and vice versa. Cabtool Registry Tweak 2) CabTool v1.8 in SendTo style Build2, 2008/04/07 or Kels_Uber_Addon_v13.7.CAB. (CabTool v1.8 in SendTo style is already included in Kels_uberpack) 3) Any archiver tool such as IZArc or TUGzip The above works during testing for hfslip-1.7.9_beta_m.cmd, slipstreaming SP3, WMP11 & IE7 with clean XPSP2 source. All using TommyP's method as stated in his website. It will not override XP own default theme (Luna.theme). There is not need to add any code in Winnt.sif for the theme part, even if you are using unattended mode. I hope you will find this info useful.
  19. Looking at your HFSLIP.log, seems like you are putting alot of "standalone" program in HFEXPERT\PROGRAMFILES & HFEXPERT\WIN folder I have also learnt that HFEXPERT\WIN need to have 8.3 filenames & no spaces for the filename. If you want to have long filename, basically you need to rename them during T13 with a batch file. I would suggest you try to put these standalone programs in the form of silent 7zsfx or winrar sfx. They can be compressed with long filenames. And put them in HFSVCPACK folder. It will also shorten the overall run time. Personally I use the HFEXPERT\WIN for additional command-line tools only (So that it is available for use with any CMD files you want to execute during T13 stage. eg. Shortcut.exe , cWnd.exe etc)
  20. BugReport I'm using HFSlip, trying to integrate with XPSP3. Running WMP slipstreamer v1.3.4.2 with all 14 hotfixes. Encounter bug while "reading setup files...". 21. I am a bit late to this post but I have to agree wholeheartly "HFSLIP devs there are always very helpfull and friendly..."
  22. GamingX Just ensure that you have say, tallyscript.au3 converted to tallyscript.exe Then put install72.exe & tallyscript.exe in the same folder. Run tallyscript.exe.
  23. I'm facing similiar problem using HFSLIP. If I set my custom theme in user-attended mode, my theme work at 1st logon. I recently use WINNT.SIF to apply the same theme but is unsuccessfully. While the wallpaper is applied, the start menu etc is reverted to Classic theme. My WINNT.SIF entries: [shell] CustomDefaultThemeFile = "%WinDir%\Resources\Themes\Midnight Blue.theme" I have patched Uxtheme.dll Any clues?
  24. Yes! Removed all REPLACE, HFEXPERT stuff & all addon while keeping only HF stuff, all setup routine now went normally. Now to slowly identify which is the culprit... Thanks again
  25. Hi Tommyp I experienced the following problems. Hope you can help to take a look. I noticed during setup stage, I was not prompt during the "regional & language setting" to select my Region Zone. It was skipped. Setup proceed to Installating Network. Then at T29 stage (Copying files...), it was skipped. Same for T25 (Completing Installation...) Setup proceed normally at T22 (Installating Start Menu Items...) till the end of setup. After 1st bootup, I got error "framdyn.dll was not found". I done some simple testing by retaining IE6 & WMP9. Still face teh same problem. Skipping setup stages as mention above. Despite retaining IE6 & WMP9 for T/s purpose, I did not have IE & WMP after installation. Also application addon (HFAAO) with sysoc.inf type were not slipstreamed. Svcpack.inf type works okay HFEXPERT\PROGRAMFILES were not slipstream at all. Also notice MSpaint was not installed. There may be some other files not installed but I did not check everything as I think skipping T29 & T25 probably cause these files not installed correctly. Attached is my Log I also face the same problem with earlier version of HFslip (1.7.7 & 1.7.6rc3)
