Seeing the dropping prices of RAM, there`s no excuse for anyone to have less then 2 GB of RAM in their rigs... Yeah im tired of hearing that excuse too. Im just glad Vista isnt as dumb as XP about memory usage. I hated having 2GB of ram but XP wouldnt even use a third of it before dumping everything in the PF. If anything I hope windows 7 uses MORE ram -it'll drive the market away from x86 and x64 might see some decent attention from the OEMs. Think about it - if 7 recommends 3gb ram(hypothetically) then the OEMs wont be able to sell much in the way of memory upgrades so they might start defaulting to x64 OSes installed. Once every Ma & Pa PCbuyer are running x64 because thats what came on their PC, they will expect hardware and software to be supported on their PC and x86 will go the way of the dodo.

How to remove the CPU 100% with Firefox & Flash

yeah i think the buttons are translated by setpoint from their defaults into whatever they are set to each time they are pressed so it would make sense that those settings arent applied when the program starts if no devices are found. you could use a 3rd party utility like http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm to remap the buttons

ok i broke out the ol' processmonitor and have found the settings are stored in a XML file located at C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Logitech\SetPoint\user.xml (close Setpoint.exe before making changes, changes seem to take effect when setpoint.exe is relaunched) the section for my MX1000 is: --snip-- <Devices> <Device Class="Receiver" Model="50331670"> <Param AppSpecific="1" LowBatPercentLevel="5" UserBatteryMode="0" VScrollAcceleration="0" VScrollSpeed="0" VoIPClient=""/> <Buttons/> </Device> <Device DisplayName="MX 1000 Laser Mouse" Class="PointingDevice" Model="16777280" NumberOfButtons="10" ConnectionID=""> <Param ACCELERATION="2" AIRACCELERATION="4" AirSpeedX="50" AirSpeedY="50" AppSpecific="1" ButtonSwapped="0" DefaultGameModeResolutionPresets="" DefaultGameModeResolutionPresetsY="" DistinctAirCursor="1" EnableCentering="1" GameDeviceSuggestGameMode="0" GameDeviceSuggestOS="0" GameModeButtonAddGame="0" GameModeButtonResDown="0" GameModeButtonResUp="0" GameModeButtonResUpWrap="0" GameModeKeepAcceleration="1" GameModeKeepKeypress="1" GameModeKeepOther="0" GameModeKeepRightLeft="1" GameModeKeepSpeed="1" GameModeNotification="0" GameModeResolutionNbPreset="0" GameModeResolutionPresets="" GameModeResolutionPresetsY="" GameParticipate="0" GameParticipateDefault="0" GamePowerMode="0" GameReportEnabled="1" GameReportRate="2" GameResIndex="2" GameUseAdvanced="0" GamingType="0" LowBatPercentLevel="5" MenuLocBottom="-1" MenuLocLeft="-1" MenuLocRight="-1" MenuLocTop="-1" MenuSize="0" OfficePowerMode="0" ShowButtonsPage="1" SmartMove="0" SpeedX="100" SpeedY="100" StromboliMice="0" TouchPadMice="0" TrackballMice="0" Trails="0" TrailsLength="0" UserBatteryMode="0" VScrollAcceleration="0" VScrollSpeed="0" VoIPClient="" smartshiftmode="0" DPIActive="1" DPIDecreaseButtonNo="0" DPIIncreaseButtonNo="0" DPIResIndex="0" DPIResolutionPresets="" MaxGameModeResolutionXY="0"/> <Buttons> --snip-- all the speed settings are stored in the Param tag under Device <Param ACCELERATION="2" thats pointer acceleration set to medium (0=None, 1=Low, 2=Medium, 3=High) SmartMove="0" some are easy (SmartMove='Snap to OK Button feature') 0 is disabled, 1 is enabled the 2 variables you are looking for are SpeedX and SpeedY the slider with the pointer speed at maximum make the values in the file read SpeedX="168" SpeedY="168" the rest of the values are as follows: 141 (one notch below maximum) 119 100 71 50(middle of slider) 35 25(default) 18 13(excruciatingly slow) 9(barely functional) other numbers could probably be substituted but setpoint will just replace them with the closest number on the list or reset them to default. also i noticed if you make the 2 numbers different, it just picks the lower number and changes the higher value to match. i upped the entire file user.xml that includes settings for my MX1000 and MX revolution from Vista x86 incase the copy your setpoint generated is messed up if you dont have either of those mice, you might have to edit the DisplayName= or the Model= parts but i think you should be able to get it working. if changing the settings doesnt work, i would setup vista on another computer, install setpoint, install your mouse, set the prefs, copy the user.xml to your 2008 x64 machine, restart setpoint and see if the tab is visible.

Adding a Domain User Group
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to junglist_g's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
2 ways: Single PC: Rclick Computer -> Manage -> Local Users and Groups -> Rclick Power Users -> Add to Group -Add Many PCs in an OU via GPo open a GPo -> Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Restricted Groups - Add Group -> your Domain User Group -> this group is a member of Power Users -
this guy has a fix for the endless reboot issue after SP3 https://msinfluentials.com/blogs/jesper/arc...ing-xp-sp3.aspx unfortunatly its a preventative measure -not a cure if its already happening. I've looked over the .vbs file and found the key it modifies Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\intelppm] "Start"=dword:00000004 if you are already having the problem, then you could easily modify that key with a boot CD (vista cd will work in a pinch)

If your system is asking your a password when attempting to enter the bios, it means someone has added a password to your bios. if its a desktop, remove it from power, pop out the cmos battery for a sec, put the battery back in, and boot back up. If its a laptop, then things get a lot more complex. ask anyone that might have added a password to your PC or if you cant find that person, post your laptops make and model in this thread and well find a solution.

this exact issue is already being covered here: http://www.msfn.org/board/Administrator-pa...rd-t117732.html

ok have you tried this? http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/...;thread.id=9804 looks like its worth a try

And Opera FTW. Seriously, if you're still a win9x user and don't run IE, then Opera is the best alternative. Opera is a good web browser, but there was no need to suddenly swoop in and recommend it in a thread about the end-of-life of Netscape Navigator. Opera fans can be annoying... says the guy that plugs his favorite browser on every post regardless of content. -you have a seamonkey link in your sig

Allthough it relies on CUE Sheets for this specific functionality, then it also features a 'Create CD CUE File' function, where individual tracks can be selected and the generated CUE Sheet added to the write queue... If you allready knew this(and i misunderstood you), then sorry about that sweet. i totally missed that option. I intentionally let our licensing for nero expire because it was costing an arm and a leg. Now I preload IMGburn on staff machines and I've heard way too much whining because people cant burn audio. (none of them have a legit reason to be burning audio anyways but that doesnt stop them from opening tickets for it )

successful sp3 integration, but why so GUI?
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to pcrx9000@yahoo.com's topic in nLite
as cluberti stated the .sif is in /I386 you can find a very detailed listing of variables you can use here: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/19/ -
you tried VXWorkskiller? or just DDWRT micro?
-
unless Im missing something. IMGburn can't do audio. It can directly clone 1 audio cd to another but ive never seen any rip/recompile functionality.
-
yeah you have to get a WRT54GL to get the same functionality as an old school WRT54G but you can kill still flash 3rd party firmwares (ddwrt micro will fit) to the WRT54Gv5 http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow...?WRT54G5_CFE#h9 I've never flashed a V5 myself but i found these instructions for a guy that works for me to try but he chickened out and stayed with the linksys firmware

There are other item like Virtualbox. Microsoft virtual PC and VMWare both are excellent products. Virtualbox is just as good. this is covered in the unattended guide http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/8/ i recommend reading the entire guide even if you intend to do things the easy way with nLite i think it was covered in the nlite specific guide that is no longer maintained that was previously stickied.

an idea for a feature would be to have the program warn if the host OS is vista/2008 since SP3 cant be properly integrated on a vista/2008 system
