  1. Quick Launch is not shown by default, but if you want to hide it at a later moment when it's shown, you can for example use toggleql.exe, which can be used for making Quick Launch visible and hiding it.
  2. You can simply import it during your unattended installation... but I see that you refer to a D-drive, so make sure that the drive exists.
  3. You're referring to expanding setup files using SPEEDUP which will not be loaded due to NOLOAD. Both scripts do not depend on each other, meaning that you can use either or both scripts as you please. If you would only use SPEEDUP, you will need to expand all the setup files that my script expands. Indeed, if you use SPEEDUP in combination with NOLOAD, certain files will be expanded which don't need to be expanded. The reason for this is simply so that you can use either or both scripts. A future version should perhaps check if both scripts are used and then take the appropriate actions, but for now this is fine for me as the space "wasted" by expanding these few setup files which won't be loaded anyway isn't that much. See the topic by gosh which I mentioned in my first posting. If this is a problem for you however, you can always comment out the line which refers to FASTFAT.SYS in NOLOAD. Perhaps a future version will work with an answer file. No, not in it's current form. These scripts are specifically written to be used with HFSLIP. By using my scripts as an example though and by reading the before mentioned topic by gosh you can make your own nLite compatible script if you want.
  4. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that recovery discs can't (always) be used with nLite, but I could be wrong. Perhaps it's mentioned in the FAQ if recovery discs are supported, so have a look there as well.
  5. Have you checked if WPI can do what you're trying to achieve?
  6. For the default desktop icons such as My Documents, My Computer, Internet Explorer, et cetera, you can indeed use Regshot. Make a snapshot of your Registry using Regshot, add these icons to your desktop via your desktop Properties window, make another snapshot and compare both snapshots to see which keys are responsible for the change, import those keys during your unattended installation and you're done. For non-default desktop shortcuts, for example a shortcut to "abc.exe", you can use a batch script in combination with a command line tool such as Shortcut.exe or you could create a silent, self-extracting archive to extract these desktop shortcuts and I believe it's even possible to use default SFX commands to create shortcuts.
  7. I have only tested this on an x86 edition of Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and all the latest hotfixes. Perhaps there is a version of sed around which is x64 compatible, I don't know. I don't have the means to test it if I would come across an x64 compatible version, but I'll see what I can find.
  8. Perhaps WPI can do what you want, I don't know for sure as I don't use it myself, but it has a topic here on the forum if I'm not mistaken.
  9. When you click on "My Computer" you normally never see any user accounts, so I still have no idea what you're on about I'm afraid Apperantly you installed certain software which does make user accounts show up in "My Computer", or you used a script or tweak of some sort to enable this, but this is not normal behaviour.

  11. If I understand your posting correctly, installing SP2 gives you an "internal error" message? Re-download and re-install SP2. Uninstall the drivers for your sound card, download the latest driver for your sound card and install it. If you get any error messages, please post them here and explain in detail what you have done to receive this error.
  12. I've finished the initial release of my post-HFSLIP scripts based on this topic. Click here for the dedicated thread for this little project.
  13. How to reduce text mode wait time gosh revealed various ways to reduce the text mode wait time in his topic Forgotten Setup Secrets Revealed. Inspired by this topic, I wrote two scripts to be used with HFSLIP to reduce the text mode wait time and to speed up the boot process. Not loading unnessary setup files during boot process The post-HFSLIP NOLOAD script will stop setup from loading the following drivers to reduce the text mode wait time: Fast FAT File System Driver SCSI MiniPort Drivers Compaq support Toshiba floppy support Expanding compressed setup files to speed up boot process The post-HFSLIP SPEEDUP script will expand these specific compressed setup files to speed up the boot process. Download HFSLIP_POST_SCRIPTS_V0.2.ZIP Extract the downloaded archive to a temporary location and copy the post-HFSLIP script(s) you wish to use to your HFTOOLS folder. The post-HFSLIP NOLOAD script makes use of sed, a stream editor to perform basic text transformations. Please download GNU sed v3.02.80 for Windows (3x, 9x, NT, 2K), extract the downloaded archive to a temporary location and copy the file sed.exe to your HFTOOLS folder. Mirrors - HFSLIP_POST_SCRIPTS_V0.2.ZIP - GNU sed v3.02.80 for Windows (3x, 9x, NT, 2K) Changelog HFSLIP_POST_SCRIPTS_V0.2: - Added processor architecture verification; currently only x86 is supported - Removed some unnecessary code HFSLIP_POST_SCRIPTS_V0.1: - Initial public release; enjoy! 14. fdv, does commenting out all lines in TXTSETUP.INF in regards to updating from Windows NT 3.1 speed up a part of the setup process of Windows XP for example? Under the [sourceDisksFiles] section there are two files which have ,5, in their line: setup16.inf and stdole.tlb. Can these files be safely commented out for Windows XP for example? Does this speed up a part of the setup process?
  15. ... and to make your smile even bigger Shark007, thank you for this silent installer! I try to make all my own installation packages, but iTunes is an exception, as I always use your package.
  16. You don't need an INI-file, as written above you can simply change the cursors as you please and save your own custom theme which you can then import during your unattended setup.
  17. Click here and next time please read the Unattended Guide.
  18. There are various ways how you can do this. You could use $OEM$-folders, create your own silent, self-extracting archive, use a batch script to copy over certain files or for example use a batch script which calls Shortcut.exe to create a shortcut there, et cetera. There are many possibilities, so do whatever you find the easiest and which works for you.
  19. ... and the answers to all my other questions are?

    Rating for SP2

Ehm, this thread is almost three years old...
  21. To be honest, I don't quite understand what you're trying to do, how you're trying to do this and what the exact problem is which you encounter then. Sorry. I assume you're using Fast User Switching to switch between users? You're logged in as yourself and then you can switch to any other user account, but when you log in using any other user account you can't switch to your own user account anymore? In which list is your user account missing? I hope that you can explain in a bit more detail.
  22. You can attach it to your post or you could copy/paste its contents in a codebox for example.
  23. You did not ask for warez, you mentioned it however and you ask questions about their use with HFSLIP. Kelsenellenelvian did read, you however did not as it seems. Not in the country where I live in. If it would be legal or not in your country does not matter. These releases are considered warez and therefore Rule #1 applies.
  24. Assuming that it's a bug might be a bit too soon The version of Windows Messenger included with Windows XP should install just fine, unless for example you have disabled its installation via WINNT.SIF. Can you please post your WINNT.SIF? I personally don't install Windows Messenger 5.1 via HFSVCPACK_SW1, but via HFSVCPACK by using a custom, silent, self-extracting archive which does nothing more than running the MSI-file silently and adding a few keys to the Registry. This works for me.
