  1. Select the compressed files via Windows Explorer, right-click and choose Properties. On the General page is an Advanced button, click it. Here you'll see a mark in a checkbox to make the files compressed, remove the checkmark and you're done.
  2. Dump it and use cWnd.exe instead!
  3. Why would you want to install via Bart PE and not the normal way?
  4. Two at the moment: - www.the-prodigy.org (needs updating) - www.ariepedia.nl (recently added, needs creating )
  5. Use Regshot to make a snapshot of your Registry, disable the search bar, make another snapshot and simply compare both snapshots and you're done.
  6. I'm MP3 as well
  7. I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question. You can run quite a lot of executable files silently by supplying additional parameters, which can also be used to configure the application in some cases. MSI-files for example can be altered sometimes or you can use MST-files to configure them. Some applications store their settings in a file or in the registry, both can be editted as well if needed. As for the location of the executable files, it doesn't matter if they're located on a server or on a workstation. Have a look at the Unattended Guide as well, which should help you get on your way. I hope this answers your question a bit. If not, please re-write your question.
  8. I would remove Threat Fire and replace it with a proper solution
  9. Simply using Task Manager sounds a lot easier
  10. ... and that's why you should never, never, never do your normal work using an admin account! An admin account is to be used for administrative purposes, not for browsing the internet, not for checking your e-mail, not for listening to music, et cetera.
  11. Just to confirm - you mean if for example I expand one file say 'FILE.EX_' to 'FILE.EXT' and then rename the last letter to '_' (the file will look like 'FILE.EX_' again)? There is no need to rename the file after expanding it.
  12. Already posted on this forum, so I advise you to search
  13. Are you using a clean build, or is it altered using nLite?

    XP SP3

It's simply SP3 only, but as an ISO-file, so that you can burn it onto CDR. It's easier if you ask me to simply download the executable of SP3 and burn that on CDR instead.
  15. Are you using a clean build, or was it altered using nLite?
  16. ... or it's an OEM disc.
  17. Your question is more difficult as it first seems. I'll try to keep it plain and simple. A virus is software, just like Notepad is software for example. Notepad lets you write text, save it, print it, et cetera. Notepad does things which you want, which you like it to do. A virus is software which does something which you don't like. It sends itself to every person in your address book or it corrupts files on your hard disk for example, et cetera. Software which you remove from your computer doesn't actually get removed as you would for example throw away a book from your shelf in the garbage, which is really gone once the garbage man has emptied your bin. Your hard disk is like a book. Every file on your hard disk is referenced in the index of your hard disk, this way your computer knows where to find which files, as it simply looks in the index. If you remove software, the files don't get removed, but the reference in the index is. This way your computer doesn't even know the files exist, as it can't find the removed files in the index anymore. The physical position on your hard disk where the file used to be still contains the file in question, but as it can't be found, it can't do any harm. If you install new software, it normally doesn't overwrite existing files as it looks at the index where it can place its files. Once software is removed, software which you install at one moment will physically overwrite the removed files. So, to answer your questions: 1. No, the virus is still on your hard disk, but it's not referenced in the index anymore and will be overwritten by other files at one moment. 2. The reference to the virus gets removed from the index, damaged files will be attempted to be repaired. 3. I never "catch" a virus as I never really download illegal software which is sometimes infected with a virus, I don't download from P2P networks, I keep my computer fully up to date and properly configured, I keep my anti-virus up to date and I keep my anti-spyware up to date, et cetera. Still if you happen to have "cought" a virus, always double check if it really got removed from your system. Perform an extra scan using an online anti-virus scan for example. But once clean, there is no need to worry anymore. The most important barrier against "catching" a virus is your brain, so use it
  18. No need for a batch script. You can simply have your SFX archive unpack and let the SFX archive add the registry keys. Download any pre-build SFX archive from the forum and you're bound to find the right command for it in there.
  19. Try it in a virtual machine and you'll know. Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 is free of charge for example.
  20. Removed components cannot be re-added nine out of ten times according to the nLite FAQ, so you're most likely screwed. I don't understand why people would want to remove services and such anyway using tools such as nLite. I believe that at least half of all the problems which people encounter who use nLite, is that they removed a component which they shouldn't have.
  21. Download ToggleQL.exe and let it run silently at RunOnce for example.
  22. You could better ask your question at the nLite section of the forum. Please ask a moderator to move your topic.
  23. It doesn't seem to be a command line tool. It seems to need to be installed. That's the advantage of ModifyPE which is currently used, as it doesn't need to be installed.
  24. Use cWnd.exe instead, which doesn't have this problem.
  25. You obviously haven't read the Unattended Guide Click here for the page describing all this exactly. If you still have a question afterwards, please be specific as to what you don't understand in reference to the before mentioned web page.
