  1. You might want to read this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162097-does-win9x-need-antivirus-anymore/ Cheers and Regards
  2. What method did you use to extract PROBLEMCHYLD? Cheers and Regards
  3. Since you want them all, is there something wrong with using PROBLEMCHYLD's Unofficial SP3? - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/61749-98-se-sp-318/ Cheers and Regards
  4. @Drugwash On my Win7 x64 Ultimate system, I tried: 7-Zip (v9.20) WinRAR (v4.20 64-bit) FreeArc (v0.666) WinZip Pro (v16.0 b9715 64-bit) HaoZip (v2.6 b8450 x64) PeaZip (v4.6) PowerArchiver Pro 2011 (v12.12.02) to extract the IPD that dencorso referenced: and, unless you know an extraction trick that I missed, none of them would extract it correctly. However, Universal Extractor (v1.6.1.62) and the Windows native method that decorso described both worked. You should get the following file structure: SP3GDR ...kernel32.dll SP3QQFE ...kernel32.dll update ...branches.inf ...eula.txt ...KB2758857.CAT ...spcustom.dll ...update.exe ...update.ver ...update_SP3GDR.inf ...update_SP3QFE.inf ...updatebr.inf ...updspapi.dll spmsg.dll spuninst.exe Did I miss something? Cheers and Regards
  5. Then it might be useful if you told us exactly why you are trying to do this. We might be able to suggest a better solution if we better understood your true needs, rather than helping you do what you think you want when that might not be the best way to do it. Just a thought Cheers and Regards
  6. Cheers and Regards
  7. There are also some free cloud based services that can provide that type of function, even automatically, for a small amount of data such a 2GB. DropBox is one. You could also set up multiple accounts, but I think only one in use at a time, by using multiple emails to register each account, if you needed more free space, and they have paid for options as well. Cheers and Regards
  8. The free app Universal Extractor can also easily open IPD's - Intra-Package Deltas-Aware Packages. 9. And what was the solution? Cheers and Regards
  10. I agree with your understanding that he want's both versions available at the same time, but I think you have it slightly backwards. I the think the originals ARE the stripped versions. The ones he adds have metadata ADDED to them. Not that that makes any difference to your conclusions. I don't think that is currently possible to do, though I can see it would be handy. As of now, an external file with the added info, or "duplicate" copies as he is doing now, seems to be his only options. Cheers and Regards
  11. Touche! I'm an id10t. Cheers and Regards
  12. As you saw from my post above, for some reason that link is very temperamental. Cheers and Regards.
  13. What I don't get though, is if you have a set of the files with the metadata info embedded, what purpose does a set of the files without the metadata really serve? In other words, why do you want to keep a copy of the original unmodified files? You have explained what you want to do, but not why. Besides, if you ever need to remove the metadata from the files, though I'm not sure why you would, you could use JPEG.&.PNG.Stripper - http://www.steelbytes.com/?mid=30 - a free tool that can strip the metadata from the files while preserving the file date and times. EDIT: LOL I'm going to have to get my glasses fixed. Cheers and Regards
  14. Thanks. Cheers and Regards
  15. Den, is your link valid? I keep getting the "... could not load the webpage because blogs.msdn.com took too long to respond." error. It's working now. Cheers and Regards
  16. The only way I know to do this is to keep two versions of the file, with different file names, one with the metadata and one without, which I think will totally defeat what you are trying to accomplish. Sorry. Cheers and Regards
  17. It just totally refutes your claim in your sig: The lack of capitalization and proper consistent sentence structure and punctuation in either your posts or your sig don't look very professional either. By the way, I agree with jaclaz's guess that your age is 13 or 14 at most. Look, no matter what you age is, you are perfectly welcome to be here and your participation is encouraged, but not your "pointless ramblings", as Yzöwl pointed out. Cheers and Regards
  18. Has Mimo been specifically apprised oaf this issue? I would think, even if it is not needed for XP, as long as it doesn't detrimentally affect XP that your change should be incorporated. It doesn't make sense to have to maintain two branches of HFSLIP. Cheers and Regards
  19. ??? What question about sata? Cheers and Regards
  20. Well, I might vote for banning if I could figure out what the heck he was asking for. LOL Cheers and Regards
  21. Yeah. Sounded just like his "Metro, Metro, Metro!" speech, didn't it? LOL He really hasn't changed at all. EDIT: Well, he had a little more hair then. EDIT2: With that coat and his attitude, I guess he was going for the "humorous" infomercial/used car salesman role. Little did we know that he would keep that role for over 27 years. LOL Cheers and Regards
  22. Maybe slightly OT, but you should enjoy this brief romp back through time to watch clips of commercials for Windows 1 -> Windows 8. You should really love the host for Windows 1. He hasn't changed much in his style since then. LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=vTsp6WH_kkk Cheers and Regards
  23. Is it possible? Probably not without running afoul of various EULAs, and/or requiring the user to provide the RP version code, and/or ... Just seems like it would be too complicated to me. Cheers and Regards
  24. Actually, it wasn't there because it was in the duplicate thread the OP had posted, which has since been deleted. Now he has posted the link in this thread as well, so we're all good. Cheers and Regards
  25. Many Thanks for all your hard work on our behalf! Cheers and Regards
