You should be sure to tell Mimo about this and offer to help update the version of HFSLIP he has available for download on his site accordingly. Cheers and Regards

Why was MSFN down yesterday and why is it still slow?
bphlpt replied to MagicAndre1981's topic in Site & Forum Issues
It even acts weird when just trying to go to the last post in a thread. About 25% of the time it will get a database error, but if I go "back" in my browser and try again using the exact same link it will usually work. But this has been getting more and more frequent lately. It is very annoying. Cheers and Regards -
Need Help! Parse DOSNET.INF for making $WIN_NT$.~BT Fold

@congnt92 Well??? Cheers and Regards -
Out of curiosity, what is it that you do NOT like about SP3? (Since it seems updating to SP3 would solve this and other problems.) Cheers and Regards

Well then, don't do that. LOL Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Cheers and Regards

Ohhh. You mean the other half of the work starts with "f" and ends with "uck". Like firetruck, but not. Yes, it seems that MS is just asking for it with that (very) pink billboard. I guess they don't want anyone to miss the total mess of things that they are making lately. Cheers and Regards

duffy, FYI all three of dencorso's links work for me. Maybe something wrong on your end like a browser extension misbehaving? EDIT: Ah I guess my crystal ball is working as well, as evidenced by the discussion here. Cheers and Regards

Thanks! Any idea how to get them in larger image sizes? (Probably not but figured I had to ask. I don't use Bing so I thought there might be some magic button or something.) Cheers and Regards

I don't know about Metro IE10, but those same Ctrl+Tab and Ctr+Shift+Tab commands to cycle from Tab to Tab work on SRWare Iron, my browser of choice, which is a version of Chrome. At least they work on Win7, my OS of choice. Cheers and Regards

Thanks Duffy! I had forgotten about MRU-Blaster, and I had not heard of the other two. Good to know. Cheers and Regards

Aero Glass Tweaker GUI for Win8 v1.3.2
bphlpt replied to ORelio's topic in Aero Glass For Windows 8+
The nagging will stop when the app is ready to be officially released. Until then, as you say, you can consider this "demo-ware" that is not meant to be left running. Consider yourself lucky that bigmuscle was kind enough to give you a peek at the possibilities. Remember, when bigmuscle first proposed this project, he fully warned everyone that this was a work in process that was not ready for prime time. But everyone has acted like this is a ready-to-go commercial project and they are finding bugs and they are demanding they be fixed - as if it's his fault it doesn't work correctly on their system. If you are not prepared to try the software for a couple of hours and give bigmuscle constructive feedback, then don't install it. Just wait until he officially releases it. At that point, and not until then, all the complaints of the inconveniences of popups and no installer will be legitimate ones. Cheers and Regards -
Aero Glass Tweaker GUI for Win8 v1.3.2
bphlpt replied to ORelio's topic in Aero Glass For Windows 8+
This is true, BUT only after the code development has gotten past a certain stage. In the earlier stages, as a code developer and debugger, when you already know that there are problem areas you are trying to resolve, it is easier, and faster in the long run, to concentrate on specific circumstances to try and narrow down what is causing the issues and to test whether a proposed change will fix the problem. Once those types of problems have been resolved, then it absolutely makes sense to test for longer periods of time to see if different unforeseen issues pop up. I'm sure that bigmuscle will want longer test periods when the time is right, for HIM. Cheers and Regards -
Did you mean to post this in the SiB thread? If not, who are you addressing this post to? Cheers and Regards

hello2u, FYI, MetroMix is now called ModernMix. LOL Cheers and Regards

That is quite beautiful! If that was indeed Win8 with Aero Glass, and it could look like that in a multi-monitor setup (of different sizes), then that looks like a finished product to me. At least one that is ready for an official v1.0 designation while any other bugs are chased down. EDIT: Shame on you Tusticles for getting our hopes up. LOL Cheers and Regards

I'm sorry, but when you are using an ISO that is "the work of other person, a iso (updated until April 2013)", then many will consider that source "warez", ie not obtained from an authorized source, so I don't know how much help you will receive here as a result. XP is stricter in a way than Win7 in that without a Technet subscription, there is no way that I am aware of to obtain an authorized XP ISO without purchasing a genuine XP CD, or a system that includes the CD, from an authorized reseller in either case, of course. Purchasing such a CD from ebay or such is also usually OK. Cheers and Regards

@viggen66, it is always, always, ALWAYS better to start with a true, clean, stock, unmodified MSFN iso rather than starting with "the work of other person, a iso (updated until April 2013)". Cheers and Regards

FYI - gdipp - see here and here. MacType is another alternative. Cheers and Regards

Thankfully, it appears that deltebrews has been banned (for being an id1ot and violating the rules of the board by posting links to "cracked" software, regardless of what he said about it not being such), and the links to his bastardization of Big Muscle's code have been removed by a moderator. EDIT: deltabrew2 - To be clear, I'm sure that Big Muscle did not ban you, he doesn't have the power or authority. I'm sure it was a Moderator or other staff member. If they are smart, they will also ban your IP and email addresses to make it more difficult for you to come back. Cheers and Regards

hello2u, look again at the sizes of the various partitions and you will see that -X- was correct when he said to use Partion 4, NOT Partition 2. (Of course the OS wouldn't fit on Partition 2 anyway since it's only 260 MiB in size.) And -X- did say to format the partition before installing Win7. Cheers and Regards

Carefully re-read jaclaz's instructions, taking notes if it will help you. As to the tag file, he said: So make a txt file "thisis_64_bit_part.txt" with anything in it that you want. The purpose of it, as I understand it, is so that you can easily do a "ls" command, the grub4dos version of "dir" I believe, to confirm that you are in the right partition so you don't overwrite something you didn't mean to. As to how to hide partitions using Disk Manager, he said: meaning that in Disk Manager that you simply "de-assign the drive letter from the volume" and it will then be hidden, if I understood correctly. Cheers and Regards

??? I'm confused. Where do you actually enter that command "GMT-8"? Cheers and Regards

How to merge two text files?
bphlpt replied to tomasz86's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
I've never run into this, but could it be the amount of memory available? It's just a guess, but it sounds like it is trying to load and process the entire thing in memory. Cheers and Regards -
Yep, indeed. Very nice. And they're from fairly close to where I live. Cheers and Regards

But, as we have tried to warn you, this is not easy, if possible at all, to do on more modern hardware. Is there a reason that the software you want to run on Win98 won't run on Win98 inside a VM? You probably stand a better chance of succeeding with a dual-boot on your 2001 era laptop, but it would help if you would supply a more complete description of this laptop. Cheers and Regards
