A simple cURLbased batch can download things at the user's machine, so there's really no need to redistribute any unredistributables. My 2 ¢, of course.

Sure you are! Follow the instructions on the 1st post of this sticky: Enable MP4 (H.264 + AAC) HTML5 video in Firefox on Windows XP without Flash and your Firefox will show those types of video, all right! And, no, there's no need to disable Flash, too... (I kept it working, too... the more, the merrier, right?).

It's not a typo. Nor is it an offset: it means size (in hexadecimal). And yes, curl sure is an alternative. It's perfectly legal for the final user to download just part of a file.

That's easy, really! Download wlsetup-all.exe (it's the direct download link you yorself gave). Download pcopy02.zip. Extract PARTCOPY.EXE from inside it. Take care: PARTCOPY.EXE does not understand long filenames. .. so run: partcopy wlsetu~1.exe 6AEB10 F83BC segoe.cab ... and then extract Segoe.msi from inside it. You can even write a batch file with wget (like this one, for example) to do it all unattended for the user.

Good riddance! When they decided against supporting MP4 (H.264 + AAC) HTML5 video, that was the deal breaker for me. I've moved over to FF from that time on, and have no regrets whatsoever, really. They've been so uncomfortable about supporting XP, it's surprising they've kept on board for so long... and nobody at all should stay against their will, anyway.

@heinoganda: the usp10.dll inside the hotfix pointed by @TuMaGoNx is v. 1.626.7601.22666, therefore it's newer... @TuMaGoNx: what is SegoeFont.msi needed for?

In Brazil commas and periods are used the reverse way, like that. One has to be very careful to avoid mixups when transitioning from English to Portuguese written numbers and vice-versa. American calculators, with the decimal point key, used to cause lots of trouble, but they also served make people realize that issue actually existed... Standards are beautiful, but we live in a babelized world, you know.

How to install Windows 98SE or ME on Dell Latitude D600
dencorso replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Not that there are that many forums nowadays where one can get any support for 9x/ME, of course... -
It took somewhat longer to find out the 10 updates it offered me. From that point, all went OK as usual.

I've never, thank God! My cards, however, did get folded or mutilated in plenty occasions. I've never had a card spindled, though...

With all due respect, even if you had got some useful info, you oughtn't to hijack, ain't it so?

Hi, Kiki! Good to see you again. Welcome back!

How so?

That's true. Then again, it's also true MS lost its last chance to redeem itsel and release an SP2 for 7... Therefore, last month was the last one in which a true comparison betwwen 7 and 10 was possible to be made fairly. Oh, well ...

Win 10 growth stalled... of course!

Or add TWO hyphens instead... http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/0--/?do=findComment&comment=1131594 What? And deprive users of the emotion of having to continuosly adapt to randomly changing rules? Never!

Woody referenced in his blog a .pdf document from Feb 2015 by MS that actually says: Now, if the whole Windows marketshare on Feb 2015 was 1.5x109 machines, and it was about 90% of the whole market in 2015, the full market was 1.7x109 machines back then. And since those numbers surely didn't change much since then, my estimate that full PC universe comprises some 2 billion machines is generally correct... and that means about 200 million is really the total number of XP users at present. Wow!

Firefox XP support will shift to ESR 52, drop in mainline past 51
dencorso replied to mixit's topic in Windows XP
What do I know? I know that: POSReady 2009 Extended Support will end on April 9, 2019. Firefox ESR 52 is should for release in April 2017 and ought to be supported until May 2018. Firefox ESR 52 will be the last version to offer NPAPI (and JRE) support, so Firefox 53 may even work on XP, but is not for me, AFAIK. Moreover, Firefox is open source, so someone probably will keep releasing unofficial security updates of Firefox ESR 52 at least until April 2019, just the same as there were unofficial updates of Pale Moon up to the Windows Server 2003 EoS, not to mention some non-SSE2 releases, too. And, even if not, I'll postpone worrying to when the problem presents itself. -
That's my opinion, too. And now I can see it's begining to become a reality. XomPie is a good step forward. But a solid wrapper sure is the way to go.
