  1. Anti-Malware Toolkit 2.0.2 has been released! 2.0.2 - 2020-09-25 [New] Option to delete downloaded files on close. [Changed] Windows 7 will explicitly use the last supported TLS, version 1.2. [Changed] Right click menu is now Run instead of Install.
  2. Windows 10 itself works great. If you try and tweak it to "optimize" by disabling things, you're just making more problems. It's not a good idea to disable Microsoft Defender. Hell, it's been the best antivirus all year. https://www.pcmag.com/news/windows-defender-achieves-best-antivirus-status https://www.techspot.com/news/81396-windows-defender-ranked-joint-best-antivirus-program.html https://www.howtogeek.com/225385/what’s-the-best-antivirus-for-windows-10-is-windows-defender-good-enough/ This meme sums things up nicely about people who tweak and optimize, only to break their OS:
  3. Anti-Malware Toolkit 2.0.1 has been released! 2.0.1 - 2020-07-02 [New] Tasks menu to easily allow users to run common repairs. [New] Report a Bug form with diagnostic information. [New] Ability to scan with Microsoft Malicious Software Tool under Tasks menu. [Changed] Applied better optimizations to images. [Changed] Redesigned About form. [Changed] Code improvements and optimizations.

    No UEFI mode

Try some different key combinations for the BIOS, though F2 should do it for sure. I'd even try with a USB keyboard attached. Plus like you said, pulling the CMOS battery. https://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/BIOS_Keys#Dell
  5. No problem asking. Here's some links about how it's the top rated anti-virus. https://www.techspot.com/news/81396-windows-defender-ranked-joint-best-antivirus-program.html https://www.howtogeek.com/225385/what’s-the-best-antivirus-for-windows-10-is-windows-defender-good-enough/ https://www.pcmag.com/news/windows-defender-achieves-best-antivirus-status

    No UEFI mode

From within the OS, hold shift when you click restart. You can then get an option to go into the UEFI BIOS.
  7. Are you running any anti virus programs? If so, remove them and use the uninstaller cleanup tool. Windows Defender is all you need. Run chkdsk again and things should come back fine. Using chkdsk /r is fine, though if your drive is failing it's better to backup and replace.
  8. @forjonny Storage Sense / Free space now is the same as using the Disk Cleanup utility. You can turn Storage Sense on to automate how often it cleans unneeded files, which can be beneficial. To answer your questions: It doesn't matter, actually. You can use either one and they both accomplish the same thing. The disk cleanup utility is most likely still there as it supports command line switches, which allows automating disk cleanup. Storage Sense does clean everything out, the only thing I've ever seen come back is a few KB worth of temp files for the browser. You have the new Settings and the old Control Panel. Both work just fine, though Microsoft is having people shift towards using Settings. Honestly Settings does a great job with everything and the search is very intuitive.
  9. It’s been a long time in the making. Finally, I’ve released the Anti-Malware Toolkit 2! Check it out! It has a lot of quality software to help users get their PCs in good working condition. The Anti-Malware Toolkit 2 has been released! Lunarsoft has always had the goal of helping users rid their computers of malware by suggesting a variety of tools. The search for the right program can be daunting for some users, and takes valuable time. It’s already stressful enough when your computer gets infected by malicious software. Rather than have those users suffer by searching several websites for the right software, there was a better goal. To give users a program that would eliminate the search, providing direct downloads to the files to help get them back to a clean, operational state. Read more on Lunarsoft
  10. Something to keep in mind is that if you distribute this. It will take you a long time to compress. However, it will also take a very long time for anyone to decompress, especially on older computers.
  11. I'd recommend avoiding Comodo products entirely. Especially after they've issued SSL certificates to known malicious websites.
  12. Give the computer a scan with Malwarebytes, and also upgrade them to Windows 10 for the security improvements, etc.
  13. Please ignore the Windows 10 haters. Sadly you see way too much bashing on Windows 10 on this forum. You have several options to access Disk Management. Click on the Windows symbol and type "Disk Management". This will show "Create and format hard disk partitions", which once clicked will open Disk Management. This is most likely the easiest way to access it. If you have the Cortana search bar (seen in the image below) you can simply type "Disk Management" there, too. Other ways include: Pressing Windows key + R and typing diskmgmt.msc, If you have This PC showing on the desktop or in the Windows Start menu, you can right click and select Manage... There's also third party software that can do it as well, but Disk Management works perfectly fine. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.
  14. That's your only solution, or using Visual Studio Community. Per Microsoft Answers, Visual Studio 2003 is only compatible with: Windows 2000 Windows NT Windows Server 2003 Windows XP And support ended back in 2013. I would definitely upgrade to Visual Studio Community at the very least and be sure to keep your OS fully up-to-date.

  16. I still am not using any anti-virus. Never had any such need. Have the built in Windows Defender with my Windows 10 install. If I need be, I have my lifetime license for Malwarebytes. As stated, Comodo is worthless for any of their so called products. They had too many issues in the past and frankly, I'd recommend Norton over them any day. For antivirus, Malwarebytes. They're not a full on av, but they cover the entire spectrum. If someone truly wants a good anti-virus that's free, Avira is nice overall. I will say, I miss Outpost Pro firewall. GlassWire is decent but not as comprehensive. It uses the Windows Firewall so it still does just fine. I'm waiting for Malwarebytes to have a firewall, and hoping it will be of the same quality that Outpost was.
  17. Lots of posts but no direct answer was given to you. You don't need to use the recovery partition if it still exists. It will most likely reinstall your Windows 8 installation. You clearly state that you really just want to clean up your Windows 10 install. It's easy to do this! Open Settings Click Update & Security On the left side, click Recovery in the left pane. In the right pane, under the Reset this PC section at the top, it will say "If your PC isn't running well, resetting it might help. This lets you choose to keep your personal files or remove them, and then reinstalls Windows." Just below Reset this PC, click the Get Started button. Windows will walk you through the rest. You won't need your Windows key either. Hope this helps you out.
  18. Note that Palemoon is not an official Mozilla browser, it's a fork of Firefox. I personally prefer Firefox, with a few good addons.
  19. 20. No, that's wrong. It's not a software quirk. He was notified of responses that were posted. The forum software is behaving as it should. @mike13 I was using a test account and deleted the posts within a minute of making them. You're supposed to receive notifications as soon as posts are made to any topic you follow.
  21. Regardless of how a well educated user/common sense is the best anti-malware, that is not the answer to the topic at hand. @mike13, Malwarebytes is an anti-malware software that, as of v3, has improved to give protection like an anti-virus (replacing it). It can protect against infections that your common anti-virus software cannot detect or remove. Malwarebytes is a light-weight, efficient anti-malware solution. I've been an Expert on their team since the software was still 0.x alpha stage. While there are many solutions available for anti-virus and anti-malware; none of them work anywhere near as well as Malwarebytes does. The reason Malwarebytes replaced Windows Defender is because it's an alternative anti-malware solution that integrates into Windows. The same thing happens if you install a firewall. For example, I used to run Agnitum's Outpost Pro firewall before the company discontinued the product due to being bought out. It would replace Windows Firewall in the Windows Security Center as the active firewall solution. You're perfectly fine and safe allowing Malwarebytes to act as your anti-malware solution in place of Windows Defender. I hope this helped to address the questions you've had so far, Mike.
  22. Perhaps, but you also mention pages are slower to load instead of faster. I too experienced the speed improvements. A refresh can't hurt anything.
  23. Sounds like you need to refresh your Firefox. Had no problems at all with the upgrade, only one addon disabled due to being Legacy/not WebExtension compatible. Edit: also shouldn't this be in the Software forum rather than Networks and the Internet? I mean, Firefox is software.
  24. Each major version released improves the overall quality and what all it can do. It's even more powerful now with 3.x than it was with 1.x. Honestly I'd go with 3.x.
  25. It all depends upon the hosting plan and how much space is available overall. Then you need to factor in that this all adds up. For my website, Lunarsoft; I need to factor in that the forums, wiki, and frontpage all count. Then you have to factor in that any images for example that can be hosted on the forums and wiki count towards that overall total. Split all of that up between members for each software and it adds up fast. That's why many websites say to use mirrors when possible. Web space is not a cheap thing for many people, whether it's 2017 or not.
