  1. Drive Copy from Powerquest works like a charm.Install software on old hard drive, shut down install new hard drive and make it slave while the old as master(can differ-sometimes no jumper).Go into bios and have it recognize the new drive by running the standard cmos settings and selecting "auto"and save and exit.Be sure that your old drive is recognized also. You can run fdisk and format on your new drive first.Boot into windows and run Drive copy.(follow instructions).Worth having just for upgrades.
  2. Thanks Jeff, Sounds good unfortunatley I'm booked for the summer.
  3. Funny in a morbid sort of way.
  4. A very happy birthday to you Piaqt. And many more.Don't know what else to say to such a nice diva........
  5. Not sure about 43.51 not supporting that, but give the 43.45 a try. That driver is the one listed as working on the futuremark site. And yes my score went from 1965 to 2786.There are more tweaks for my card and finnally there is the 9700/9800 soft mod that ThA Filer found and is using. That is a really good Nvidia card that you have Lynch, there is a way to make that work with 3dmark,I'm almost sure of it and I will check around if others are having that prob.
  6. Tried to get game test to go after installing dx9 sdk but no go.Also installed the patch no go.Just installed the Cat 3.2 drivers and it tests now. This score is a bit more respectable ThA. So zipps ati9500 and my Ti4400 do not support this? I have applied the patch.............. This will work for the Nvidia card too Lynch try applying the detonator 43.45 drivers. GetThemHere
  7. I don't think I want to do that ThA,cause it's an Nvidia chipset.Iwill check the Nvidia site for their updates though.Your right though it is low so I'll have to tinker(as Tinker would say).
  8. Just built this one.Asus A7N8X.Radeon 9500 red pcb(not soft modded yet),512 HyperZ PC2700,had to throw in a Tbird 1.4GHz until prices drop a bit more.Ist test and the memory is running at 266mhz.Why can't I get game test 4 to go?
  9. Have a good birthday, unless you made other plans.
  10. Good question. My Acer has a 6GB hdd and it's an IBM but I have seen some good deals out there for other brands with a lot bigger drives.I would tend to think that they are all standard, but not sure.Mine pulls out as a drawer so the only thing that needs to match is the plastic moulding at the front which just screws on.Let us know what you find Rick.................Thanks
  11. I have a Lite On 32x12x40 and Nero and it works great. Also just bought a Lite On 52x24x52 for my new gaming system which is almost complete.Good quality cheap price $50 is why I went with the Lite On's.Got it in black color too. Here's a pic of it with it's dvd rom brother. ViewHere

    Sig Again

    Lookin good Tinker.
  13. Since the computer is 3 weeks old then you should call your tech support and report it.This way even if they say it is normal then you have recourse if the drive fails, but do push them for a remedy. It's under warranty and most hard drives come with 3yrs.warranty anyway.I would have to hear the noise for myself to determine if it is not running right, but I have had a new drive sent to me and it squealed and ground to a halt.
  14. It's not there Tink. Edit; There it is,looks good except a bit blurry like gamehead said.I like the font.
  15. Nice work xeon,I'll never get sick of looking at the finer cars.

  18. Yee Ha,get a long little doggie.Just grin and bear it dude, boytoy is the way to go.Right,Piaqt?
  19. Salute,Lezend may your birthday bring you your wishes.
  20. I understand what you did now,but is the win98se cd an upgrade cd,or oem?In other words did you install win 3.11 then upgrade?I'm not sure you can have win 3.11 and win 98se cohabit on the same disk without a partition, and boot manager.Maybe just install win 98se on a partition you make when you fdisk and then go and put win 3.11 on the other partition.I have always used full oem operating systems so not sure what's going on if you are upgrading.
  21. Hey Greenbud, Sounds to me like your floppy drive is not working correctly.Since you already have an operating system on there if your floppy is not working you will get a c: prompt.Go back into the bios and select the Standard CMOS Features. There you will see Date and Time settings and IDE settings for master and slave configurations(for hard drives).Under that you will see Drive A and Drive B configurations.Drive A should have 1.44M, 3.5 in.next to it which means it has been detected and is functioning. If the floppy is there then 1)go to the Advanced bios section and turn on Boot up Floppy Seek,or 2) shut down and open the case and check the power cable to the floppy drive. If there is no detection in bios as mentioned above then do the same with the power connector and also the ribbon cable itself. This is not uncommon that a connection comes lose or just needs to be reseated.Keep troubleshooting and come back and let us know. You may need a new drive or ribbon cable.Your patience will prevail. And BTW,it won't hurt your computer if you yell profanities at it.
  22. That would be the only anti-Bush campaign I will support.
  23. An old win 95 boot disk will work for fdisking and formating your drive also. And I would fdisk first before I reformat a drive.Just put your floppy in,start the comp, and at the prompt, type in fdisk. To make it simple, choose yes for large HD support.Next choose delete primary dos partition(if it is non-dos ie; ntfs or linux choose non-dos partition)to delete. After that is deleted then choose create primary dos partition. After it does it's thing, reboot with the floppy still in the drive and at the prompt type what Drewatrtrip mentioned "format c:"(without the quotes and make sure you put a space between the format and the c.Now you can try to set the first boot device to cdrom in bios and if you bios supports this it's just a matter of booting with the cd in and choosing as mentioned "start with cd support".If your bios does not support booting from cd then use the win 98 boot floppy to load the cdrom drivers by starting with that disk in the drive. Then type D: or which ever letter is indicated when the drivers are loaded and then type "setup".
