  1. Yes searching for fastrack or fastrack turns up nothing. Something else that is interesting is this issue ONLY comes up when trying to do an automated install. When I do an install just using the floppy and an XP SP2 cd it works fine so the driver floppy is fine. The I386 folder is a direct copy off the CD. There is no mass storage section, or OEMBoot entries in winnt in sif.
  2. I am also having an error without trying to slipstream the driver. When I use F6 to load the driver, it loads it to where it can find and format the hard drive, but when it goes to copy the files it cannot find fasttx2k.sys. This is an automated installation what would be causing this?
  3. I have but this file is structured different than those in the guides
  4. I am trying to slipstream the driver for my raid controller into my unattended build. It is a FastTrack raid controller. Below is the txtsetup.oem file. Please help me with what to add where. [Disks] d1 = "Promise FastTrak 376/378 Driver Diskette", \fasttx2k, \ d2 = "Promise FastTrak 376/378 Driver Diskette", \fasttx2k, \nt4 d3 = "Promise FastTrak 376/378 Driver Diskette", \fasttx2k, \Win2000 d4 = "Promise FastTrak 376/378 Driver Diskette", \fasttx2k, \WinXP d5 = "Promise FastTrak 376/378 Driver Diskette", \fasttx2k, \Win2003 [Defaults] scsi = FastTrak_TX2K_net [scsi] FastTrak_TX2K_xp = "WinXP Promise FastTrak 376/378 (tm) Controller", fasttx2k [Files.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_net] driver = d5, fasttx2k.sys, fasttx2k dll = d5, ptipbmf.dll inf = d5, fasttx2k.inf catalog= d5, fasttx2k.cat [HardwareIds.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_net] id="PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376", "fasttx2k" id="PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3373", "fasttx2k" [Files.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_xp] driver = d4, fasttx2k.sys, fasttx2k dll = d4, ptipbmf.dll inf = d4, fasttx2k.inf catalog= d4, fasttx2k.cat [HardwareIds.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_xp] id="PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376", "fasttx2k" id="PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3373", "fasttx2k" [Files.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_nt51] driver = d3, fasttx2k.sys, fasttx2k dll = d3, ptipbmf.dll inf = d3, fasttx2k.inf catalog= d3, fasttx2k.cat [HardwareIds.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_nt51] id="PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376", "fasttx2k" [Files.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_nt52] driver = d3, fasttx2k.sys, fasttx2k dll = d3, ptipbmf.dll inf = d3, fasttx2k.inf catalog= d3, fasttx2k.cat [HardwareIds.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_nt52] id="PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3373", "fasttx2k" [Files.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_nt4] driver = d2, fasttx2k.sys, fasttx2k dll = d2, ptipbmf.dll inf = d2, fasttx2k.inf [Config.fasttx2k] value = "", Tag, REG_DWORD, 1
  5. Its not really that easy. Alot of it depends on how the network setup. More than likely you are in a switched environment which without some manual configuration this is not possible.
  6. 2x 900 GB Arrays 2x 73GB SATA 2x 60 GB Laptop Drives Plus various Boot drives, all online
  7. just have it delete itself, it should work.
  8. Dont have it call the exe to setup office, use the msi file. What I believe is happening is the setup program is doing its work and spawning the actual install process, then quitting, causing RunOnceEx to go to the next step.
  9. ViceVersa Pro
  10. Miranda IM can connect to all networks and its free.
  11. This is a very bad idea. Not only does it open up shares for hacking but also alot of other "features" of Windows. If you open these ports you WILL be hacked.
  12. You can install the administrative tools locally on their PCs so they dont need to log on to the server.
  13. Depends on the video card in the laptop.
  14. http://unattended.msfn.org/ Have fun
  15. First off, like others have said users should NOT be logging on to servers directly AT ALL. Secondly, the way to restrict what they can see is by using ntfs permissions look them up. They should only be accessign servers by shares. Anything else is wrong.
  16. You have to set up port forwarding somehow with a firewall. Best bet is to use a PIX.
  17. Cisco PIX 501. Software firewalls suck.
  18. You can also do with with GPOs with a Windows 2003 domain. It falls under software restriction policies. You can also do this for older OS's using SMS.
  19. no, because unless you are doing an upgrade which isnt reccommended there is no way for that program to be running on a fresh install.
  20. Changing the routers default gateway will only help if the network spans multiple subnets. Like others have asked, what type of router do you have? Is it an ACTUAL router or the cable/dsl type? If this is for a business purpose and you want to get more secur relatively inexpensively look at buying a Cisco PIX 501. Under $1000 full loaded with features and licenses.
  21. Somewhat. I agree with a few of the other people here. I pay for most of the software I use that is resonably priced. For example I have licensed copies of VMware, Winzip, UltraISO, and Nero. But I do not have licensed copies of some Microsoft and Adobe products. The reason for this is that they cost way too much, about $500 each. The normal person cannot afford to pay these prices. But I would but them if they came down to the sub $100 range. I know developers need to get paid but they will make more money selling lots more of a product at $100 than a few at $500.
  22. True, but those products can insure total network compliance with future patches without having to go computer to computer.
  23. why not just use SUS or sms?
  24. Is there a way to automatically install firefox extensions?
