  1. If you would take the trouble to get down all the MAC addresses of those 120 machines, then I may have some nice batch code for you. PM me if interested.
  2. Bummer that you are. If it were Win2K with AD (as others have suggested) your problems would be solved.
  3. If you were to select the 4096 bytes allocation size, and you would write a 1K file to the HDD, you would lose 3K of unused data for that unit. If you were to select 1024 bytes as your allocation size, and again you would write the same 1K file, the allocation unit would be nicely filled, without any loss. HOWEVER, if you were to write a 4K file with 1024 bytes alloc. size, you need 4 units. This creates more overhead and accessing times of the HDD. With the current size of HDD's and considering most files are usually larger than 4K, the LARGEST option available would be best!
  4. Try this fix: "Programs that connect to IP addresses that are in the loopback address range may not work as you expect in Windows XP Service Pack 2"
  5. could "Programs that connect to IP addresses that are in the loopback address range may not work as you expect in Windows XP Service Pack 2" be your problem?
  6. Although I'm not too familiar with WFP, I don't think it actually blocks files from being deleted. WFP replaces crucial system files with original ones, if they have been tampered with or deleted.
  7. Apply your registry tweaks at the T-13 stage of your unattended installation. All new users that logon will have those registry tweaks. Check out MSFN's Importing HKEY_CURRENT_USER Registry Tweaks, which explains it all.
  8. They worked for me, Benners. Thanks!
  9. Sorry mate, I can't really see anything wrong with your Winnt.sif or your directory structure. Have you tried renaming the particular folder that won't copy, and making the appropriate changes in your oemdriverspath. Then try again.
  10. Get an original copy of Windows XP (home, pro, or corp). Then slipstream SP2 onto your original WXP CD (without SP1). You won't need SP1 anymore.
  11. I use McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0. with WXP SP2. No problems here.
  12. Where did you read kroustibat got the solution? He said the extra $ was a typo on his behalf in the post. It's okay on his CD. Instead of getting on my case, read his posts for heaven's sake! Have I done something in the past to p*** you off or what the hell is it?!? Geez!
  13. If you don't like "the way", that's your problem then. Its your own interpretation of words. I never saw a rude comment. I honestly think you should get a life. Get off my case now!
  14. I think you could be right, Green with regard to the mini setup. I did a reinstall of my WXP SP2 integrated. I do not install WMP9 as it is included with SP2. I reg out the "mini setup". First thing I did was check if the toolbar was there... it wasn't. So I started up WMP9 (no questions asked) and minimized it. I got the popup telling me about the mini-toolbar, but... STILL NO TOOLBAR! So I reset the "group policy accept" registry entry for WMP9 and restarted it. This time I got the "mini-setup" and after that the mini-toolbar WAS available. Strange thing is I NEVER had this behaviour when I had SP1 integrated and a seperate install of WMP9. I canceld out the "mini-setup" through the registry but STILL would have the toolbar. I'd say problem solved, but I've gotten another one in return. @ Gabriel: I'd be interested in those reg keys. Now I have to go through the mini-setup to get that darn toolbar. I'd like to be able to skip the mini-setup and still have the toolbar like in the good old SP1 days. I found the key that controls the popup window which tells you how to enable the mini-toolbar, but it doesn't actually turn it on. I think the mini-setup does as said above. Thanks!
  15. With regard to your first comment, yes, I missed that "as". Sorry bout that. How many times have you seen people asking for help but not posting their code? It happens all the time. Don't you ever get fed up of it? Why can't people simply post the relevant code without everybody having to ask for it. Don't you think its normal that if you had a problem you would present the code so we can all check for possible typos and other trivialities? Personally I had it up to here with people asking s*** and not posting their friggin code! I usually don't respond to those questions anymore. If I'm in a good mood I might add a sarcastic remark. But again I miss the rudeness in my posts. Thank god we have you to point it out to us! Sounds like your a really touchy guy. Perhaps you should get out more! (yes, THAT was rude...but so true)
  16. Yeah, raiden said that already. Just like I already asked for code in the other thread. Thanks for repeating, anyway. Redfive can't miss it now.
  17. LOL! That tread was started the same day this one was. I guess they do pop up every day.
  18. @Simon, redfive's choice of words may not be the best, but I'm sure he just wants to skip the welcome screen rather than rip it out of WinXP entirely. Good call Raiden!
  19. There. I finished Doom 3 today. All in all it had me pretty hooked to my machine late each evening. Playing in a dark room with a head set sure makes it one scary mo-fo of a game. Still, no sign of Doom95. I'm starting to wonder if this may actually be a joke. I'll give it a few more tries later on. All in all I think the game is very well done and certainly worth your money. And whether you like this (type of) game or not, one will have to agree graphically the game is very well done.
  20. Yes, or that. Which ever you like. Just leaving space for others to reply.
  21. @ Simon Help me? Help me with what? What help do I need? ROFL. Its clearly you that's not reading this thread, dear chap. I asked the original poster to post his code. Right beneath me asking that, you ask the same. Therefor I was simply wondering if you read my post. You're going for the post count, aren't you. j/k But thanks anyway... for your help? You know... I even had that extra $ he had in there in BOLD and ITALIC for EVERYBODY to see, but it looked like s***e and I figured EVERYBODY would see that. Guess I was wrong. Where do you taste the bitterness, my friend? Can't take a joke?
  22. Thanks for your user posted images. Can't see them tho. All I requested from you was a screenshot (one would suffice) which showed me that the WMP mini toolbar was enabled AFTER you would click on yes. It does NOT ask you if you want to enable the toolbar, it tells you HOW TO ENABLE IT! Please read more carefully. Later on in your post you say... Thank You, EXACTLY MY POINT! What strikes me though... At first, with a particular user you notice the toolbar is not available, but after starting up WMP and minimizing it, it is available. Later you tell me you've tested with a new user and without starting up WMP you mention "the media bar was there WITHOUT starting the WMP9 for the first time." How would you explain that then? As I have stated in a previous post, I tested what you said about the Media Player toolbar not being there, and found this to be NOT true! If you log on as a new user and DO NOT start up WMP, you STILL WILL have the Media Player Toolbar to select. YOU said it would only appear AFTER you minimize WMP9 for the first time. Your tests now show you the same. Good, that's one problem less to deal with. The popup EVERYBODY gets makes you AWARE of this option, and how to turn it on, BUT ITS ALREADY THERE. So remember, it is NOT ASKING YOU IF YOU WANT TO TURN THIS FEATURE ON, ITS JUST TELLING YOU HOW TO TURN IT ON!!! (I've said this many times already, but people seem to miss that particular line everytime for some odd reason. ) Now I kindly ask you, and all others, is that so hard to understand? From what you were telling us, I presumed you were talking of a different window. ALSO because the window you mentioned only appears once as you said. If you would look more carefully you will see that you have to TICK a box if you DO NOT want the window to reappear. Thanks for all your help tho, I feel we're really getting somewhere.
  23. I see that all the time. People give out their PC to friends for a re-install, and when the next guy comes around (me) and I need the Admin password from them, they look at me as if I just spawned before them, Doom 3 style. I have plenty tools to reset the Admin Password. If you don't you have a problem. Its true, however, when you do a Recovery it asks for the Admin password. I suggest you use the bootflop gamehead is referring to. The ERD package would be too big a download, and a trial at best.
  24. When people ask me to reinstall Windows for them, I sigh and look really depressed. Once they're out the door, I pop out my Unattended CD. Once its finished I open the registry and change those values for that person. Voila! Then I charge him 20 bucks! AHAHAHAH!
  25. Simon, did you read my post? Deja vu? I think he's making us beg! We'll have to make him beg for an answer then.
