Enable remote desktop by default
enuffsaid replied to gai-jin's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
So you say you've applied that key, but it doesn't work. Lets say you do a clean (unattended) install again, FIRST thing you do at first logon is CHECK to see what that particular key has for value. Is it what you set it to be during the setup? If not, your registry settings are not getting set during the setup. Could you check that please? -

New SP2 patch KB884020 update the tcpip.sys file
enuffsaid replied to raindrop's topic in Windows XP
Indeed. One may opt to download the patcher from the afore mentioned site, or you can get the "ready-made" .sys here. But keep this in mind... - Certain people are experiencing TCPIP connectivity problems AFTER they installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. - Microsoft have released a patch (their first SP2 patch) to correct this problem. (KB884020) - This patch is ONLY for people experiencing this problem after applying SP2. - The patch CANNOT be downloaded from M$ directly, you'll have to give them a call. IF, and only IF you have installed this patch, and you still want (the much disputed) unlimited concurrent connections per port, then you may choose to use: the TCPIP.SYS I posted OR use the patcher from http://www.lvllord.de/index2.htm OR patch your own. TCPIP.SYS 359,040 bytes, version 5.1.2600.2505 Offset 130 (This is the checksum!) FROM: 27 C3 05 00 TO: 1B C4 05 00 (<--- corrected checksum = 05c41bh) offset 4F322 FROM: A0 00 00 00 TO: FE FF FF 00 (<--- unlimited connections) Hope this clarifies it a bit. -
Welcome new guy on the block! I'm not sure what you mean with "this" but M$ has posted their first SP2 fix. The one you point to in your post. You can't download it directly for M$, you'll have to give them a call. That hotfix indeed (is supposed to) fix problems people are experiencing with TCPIP connectivity AFTER they applied SP2. I posted a "hacked" TCPIP.SYS which allows for unlimited concurrent connections, but is ONLY needed if you've applied this particular patch (884020). You can get the hacked TCPIP.SYS here. Hope that helps a bit.

New SP2 patch KB884020 update the tcpip.sys file
enuffsaid replied to raindrop's topic in Windows XP
The patch is the same (except for the CRC). But this TCPIP.SYS does away with the problem some people are having with regard to the KB article posted here. -
Is the connection with the other computer still on? What Service Pack are you running? Have you tried rebooting the computer which won't let you move the files?

see if you can get your hands on this here patch from Microsoft. You might have to call with customer support, as its not available for download through WU.

Enable remote desktop by default
enuffsaid replied to gai-jin's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server] "fDenyTSConnections"=dword:0x00000000 I use that for my unattended SP2 installation and it works fine for me. Remote Desktop is enabled for me. -
I like both MSFN and N.E*O.W*I.N.

New SP2 patch KB884020 update the tcpip.sys file
enuffsaid replied to raindrop's topic in Windows XP
And here's the deal: TCPIP.SYS 359,040 bytes, version 5.1.2600.2505 Offset 130 (This is the checksum!) FROM: 27 C3 05 00 TO: 1B C4 05 00 (<--- corrected checksum = 05c41bh) offset 4F322 FROM: A0 00 00 00 TO: FE FF FF 00 (<--- unlimited connections) So now you only need to Makecab and Expand. Oh, and remember you got it first at MSFN! No need to trust my releases. Do the above for yourself and your all done. Thanks for your input Gaby!... -

New SP2 patch KB884020 update the tcpip.sys file
enuffsaid replied to raindrop's topic in Windows XP
Quite simple. At the offset the bytes were identical. However... I DID MESS UP THE CHECKSUM PART. LET ME FIX THAT! -
Hi WY_Genius. Welcome to MSFN. In case you guessing... with <<SPAM>> Marsden means the N_E_O_W_I_N_.NET site. MSFN and N*E_O*W_I-N don't like each other. REMOVED TEXT

New SP2 patch KB884020 update the tcpip.sys file
enuffsaid replied to raindrop's topic in Windows XP
I think I'll wait until 2007 when Longhorn will be released. I'm sure that it will contain this hotfix. I'm sure SP3 for WXP will have it too. And that will be before 2007 longhorn. -
New SP2 patch KB884020 update the tcpip.sys file
enuffsaid replied to raindrop's topic in Windows XP
You still need to makecab, expand and correct the checksum if you want to intergrate this into your own Unattended CD. For the masses, I suggest you stick with your current TCPIP.SYS (build 2180) unless you exprience the problem documented in the MS KB884020 -

New SP2 patch KB884020 update the tcpip.sys file
enuffsaid replied to raindrop's topic in Windows XP
UPDATED THIS POST. My FILE HAD THE WRONG CHECKSUM. Here's my patch: Probably the first on the internet for this version TCPIP.SYS 359,040 bytes, version 5.1.2600.2505 Offset 130 (This is the checksum!) FROM: 27 C3 05 00 TO: 1B C4 05 00 (<--- corrected checksum) offset 4F322 FROM: A0 00 00 00 TO: FE FF FF 00 (<--- unlimited connections) These are the same edits as for the 2180 version. source: http://www.lvllord.de/4226fix/4226fix-en-manual.htm tcpip.sys.v5.1.2600.2505.part1.rar -
;Enable Remote Assistance & Remote Desktop [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server] "fDenyTSConnections"=dword:00000000 "fAllowToGetHelp"=dword:00000001 fDenyTSConnections = Remote Desktop fAllowToGetHelp = Remote Assistance Tested to work for SP2 by me Peachy is referring to the "Max concurrent sessions per port" fix for SP2. That's got nothing to do with what you want; i.e. enable remote desktop. EDIT: Sorry, not "Max. concurrent sessions per port" but the Concurrent Remote Desktop sessions ofcoarse. My bad!

I don't believe this update is offered at WU: I didn't get redirected either, but I think he means to M$ phone support or something. EDIT: And I CERTAINLY WON'T download it from eMule! -

What build number does the new TCPIP.SYS have? Have you tried your hand at it manually with the info provided here. EDIT: I see it has version: 5.1.2600.2505. Could you supply us with this file? -
How do I take out the "Welcome To Windows" etc.

Hey guy yourself... True... but the problem is you consistently repeat previous post adding no content to the discussion. Just trying to make you aware of that... GUY!
