  1. ps if you use dism to remove packages, they are not completely removed? ie if you remove the printer drivers package, the drivers are still left in the winsxs folder so you may have to remove them manually! also, does anyone find that removing the packages actually makes the install size bigger?
  2. it should be ok to delete the files from the backup folder as they're already in the system32/winsxs folder but i would suggest deleting those files from vstemp19\windows\winsxs\backup when vlite is doing its thing?!
  3. run dism /image:c:\s2 /get-packages which should list all the packages then replace the names from the list in the batch file
  4. did you mount your install.wim to c:\s2? make sure that folder has read/write selected in gimagex!

    ISO Image over 4GB

if you have waik installed, you could use oscdimg tool to create the iso?
  6. im off a shower & then work! its almost 6am here in the UK
  7. try it & you will see?! it took many i dont how many tries to work that out as it seemed the most unlikely?
  8. I have one error under Application. None under System. I think it has to do with removing System Restore The Cryptographic Services service failed to initialize the VSS backup "System Writer" object. i think thats to do with removing volume shadow copy?
  9. just wondered but if you keep the dfs replication, the group policy should work! dont know why dfs is the culprit tho?
  10. ps liquid, does the group policy snapin in either of your presets still function? also does the event viewer show any errors in application & system?
  11. Well, your target is Windows 7 HOMEPREMIUM, mine is Windows 7 ULTIMATE. EDIT: After delete Hibernation file, My install size is 2.35 GB !!! But I have problems with printers (driver removed in ULTRA), I will try again with printer driver support well done gen but looks like you're also using 32bit so it shrinks more than the 64bit!
  12. dont do any language, just like to experiment in shrinking OS's to have a minimalist, fully functioning OS that uses less ram & space than normal!
  13. You can provide a patch to mouted install.wim as a parameter (type "install_wim_tweak.exe /p c:\s2 /m" without quotes) it is not nesesary to type it after program started. You can send any ideas/problems with install_wim_tweak.exe to me (i wote this tool) By the way, i am working on one app... here is a screen (because people like screens ;p, note that is a early development stage): Planned functionality : -Integrate drivers -Integrate windows patches -Remove packages -Expandable tweaking system -No need to install WAIK As the holidays are coming i will probably find some time to finish it will look forward to testing it out
  14. if you mean deleting a folder, then you will need the unlocker tool! it only works on 32bit tho...
  15. also with waik 7, theres some reported problems with vlite! you only need the imagex component of the waik tools & the imagex with waik 1.1 is much quicker?
  16. if you extract the content of that attached rar file to c:\tweak, then start a dos prompt to that folder: run install_wim_tweak.exe /m & then type c:\s2 (s2 folder being the mount folder of your wim)
  17. you do not need waik tools for w7 just waik 1.1 (for vista). install wim tweak is a small utility to take ownership of the registry so it allows you to remove the packages with the batch file
  18. if you see my mini-guide in this thread, the batch file lists the safest ones to delete?
  19. no! once you remove it, you cant add it afterwards?
  20. use waik 1.1 which is still compatible with sp2?
  21. sp2 won't install on a vlited sp1?!
  22. you should keep windows remote management?
  23. see my mini-guide in the windows 7 thread! im still learning on how to use dism btw
