this has been mentioned many times in a few of the vliting win7 threads already!!! dont use the unattend option in vlite but importantly, you need to copy the setup.exe from the iso\sources\ folder to the vlited sources\ folder!
-
that file won't have an extension as such as its a registry hive file! you basically load the hive in regedit & edit it from there but if you're not sure how to do it, then leave it! it doesn't matter too much!!!

if you try my latest x86 batch file in the other thread, you should be able to get the install wim to around 505mb! Which one specifically for x86 you have a few. Do you have one for 64 bit what size did you get the install.wim for that? see 1st post in the other thread for the new x86 guide which contains the latest batch/dism removal

Seriously people if someone finds a solution to this please post it here. do you have UAC enabled? if so, try disabling that & try again? also, make sure you're using imagex from amd64 to mount the wim to c:\s2...?

you need to make sure that you still have the setup.exe from the sources folder in the vlited sources folder!

its possible...i got the ultimate x86 install.wim down to 460mb & fully working!
-
that probably explains why you've been getting errors? you need waik for vista sp1/2008

My bad jeronimo i believe you are right on this not finding processor Architecture in that encrypted mess but looking at the size of browcli.dll in System32 is 57KB and the size of it in SysWOW64 is 40.5KB meaning the 64-bit versions are in System32 b/c the size of a 64-bit dll is always bigger nice work never new this though it was the other way around great work once again my friend I still don't know how you are getting you install.wim down to 800 MB though lowest i can get mine removing all packages you do and cleanup all the files you do as well except for the .net stuff i just removed the .net 3 package and i can only get mine to 1.15gb install.wim and a even 1.30gb for my ISO size. i was able to get my wim down to 780mb but im hoping to hit 750mb?!

"One important note – as indicated above, the cleanup tool will not allow you to remove a version of the .NET Framework that is installed as part of the OS it is running on. That means that even if you try this example command line on Windows Server 2003, the tool will exit with a failure return code and not allow you to remove the .NET Framework 1.1 because it is a part of that OS. Similarly, you cannot use the cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework 1.0 from Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or remove the .NET Framework 2.0 or 3.0 from Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008. In addition, if you run the cleanup tool on an OS that has any edition of the .NET Framework installed as a part of the OS, it will prevent you from using the .NET Framework - All Versions option because there is at least one version that it cannot remove." ...but thanks

i should have some new removal batch files ready in a few days, along with a new guide?

===== Post Nº1 ===== finally got the install.wim size down to under 800mb...installing now! kept netfx2 but deleted almost all of the netfx3 files! im hoping to get an install which has zero errors in event viewer...? ===== Post Nº2 ===== 2.37gb install size without page/hiber file, netfx2 intact & no errors in event viewer theres still a few remnants of netfx3 files in winsxs tho... ===== Post Nº3 ===== heres my latest batch file for ultimate x64: you should probably keep servicing baseline for ultimate tho? rather than using vlite to remove media center, i used dism & then manually deleted the files from the winsxs including other files so you will need patience & a lot of testing in vmware. also, after you commit the changes post batch file, then apply vlite to remove files, create iso (dont apply tweaks yet) & test. then start deleting files after mounting again...
-
===== Post Nº1 ===== ive decided to give it one more try as things look a bit promising but i made a slight mistake of removing the servicing baseline package for ultimate so no programs show in the program & features in control panel... ===== Post Nº2 ===== will post a final batch file once im done but i slim down the old fashion way...by deleting files manually!
-
after much tinkering, ive decided to keep netfx3! ive got the install size down to 2.61gb without pagefile/hiberfil. it takes too long to sort out which file causes errors so not worth the hassle!
-
===== Post Nº1 ===== just spent over 3 hours manually deleting netfx3 & files from the winsxs...hope it works? ===== Post Nº2 ===== oh well...looks like it didnt work!
