That's a minor issue. I just need to know how to do it. What software I need. What type of hardware. Specific brands & pieces a bit later. About the wireless: how many cards do I need? I would like to support maximum 4 wireless connections. Let's say I need 6 though, how many cards can I use at once to get full speed (at least 50mb/s per connection) out of them? Or hell, maybe powerline networking. If you have an outlet, you have an ethernet connection. Wireless powerline hub available too by NetGear's claims. Also, I want wireless & wired in my box too. And a hard-drive & an OS running all the time serving the network & maintaining the gateway. Gateway firewall too. As well as basic server too. Being a 'public' access point for my network.

Maybe this can help? I was looking up for CF cards though. http://sewelldirect.com/usb-to-compactflash.asp This compact flash adapter allows you to add a USB 1.1 port to connect to various USB devices. You can use this to connect to various other accessories including bar code scanners, magnetic stripe card readers, keypads or other USB HID devices. It works off of USB bus power to keep power consumption on your PDA as minimal as possible. The USB port is female so that it can best interface with your input devices. You could connect a USB mass storage device such as a flash drive or a portable hard drive to back up your PDA information. You also get support for digital cameras to share pictures directly from your camera to your PDA.

I'm looking to build a small server. I am also wanting to replace my router, old and it heats up alot. I figure, it would be nice to get an al-in-one. A server/router/internet gateway box Both wired and wireless. Is this possible? Basically a PC with a bunch of wireless & wired network cards that will serve my network. It would be great since I'd also like a dedicated firewall PC while I'm at it. I'm thinking microATX with a VIA processor.

Yes! (And also the recycling bin graphic, that shows when emptying the recycling bin. I think the copy/move files graphic also has reverted back to default, unlike the cool 4.6 one.) Does the new one look any better? Or is it reverted back to the really ghetto XP default one? Also, I think I may have a workaround. Install 4.6 THEN 4.7 beat on top of it. That way the broken shortcut icon cannot be reverted since its already changed. This would work for changing a CD ISO for installation. I don't think it would be good for installing on an already running system, probably cause major problems.

I have version 9. Slightly lighter than version 10, with almost all the same features. Big change over 8.

Then you must have had a load of garbage draining resources, or terrible drivers. Or both.1 Yes. This is exactly why I can badmouth it. Tried it, loathed it. Maybe iVista's successor will bring at least a couple of new features worth upgrading for.

That's right. Unless you have a huge screen you can see from a distance, there is no point to a wireless keyboard. Wired is great. Wow. This is a good deal. For a normal mouse. I suggest the new logitech wireless mouse. Its a mouse, and from a distance its also a remote. If he uses features like that, PVR and such. Otherwise this is still a great mouse for the price. http://mobilitysite.com/2007/07/gesture-ba...h-mx-air-mouse/ *shudders* Not until SP1 is out. No way I would ever touch this. XP/Server 2003 are great. No point in Vista until a good chunk of the mistakes are ironed out. Seems pointless to get 7.1 and a 2.1 speaker system. That and 7.1 is pretty pointless in itself. 5.1 surround is more than great. Why add two speakers? You can get an older Audigy card. Also, doesn't the mobo have 5.1 built in already? Meh. Too many watts go unused. Even with a 8800GTS. No way he needs (or ever can use) that much. Here's one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817151028 SeaSonic S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT ATX12V / EPS12V 650W Power Supply $153.00 Its 80-plus certified meaning its minimum 80% efficient. Less heat produced in your PC case (less cooling needed as a result) and less electricity getting sucked out of the wall. That's right. *Spills coffee on keyboard.* WHAT!? $2127!!! With shipping $2300!!! I would just build it myself. At least I know exactly what I'm doing and can build a PC with exactly what I need. No useless generic 7.1 surround or fax modem, or FM Tuner (why is this even a feature?) thrown in neither.

HAZAAA!!!! All I had to do was go into disk management and assign it a drive letter. It was there, but it didn't have any label. Just an icon. Thank you very much for the help guys. :thumbup Now I know what disk management is too. Never used it.
-
About that... in the Device manager, it says that one is master (ATA 0) and the other is slave (ATA 1). I'm going to mess around with the jumpers manually. I haven't checked those yet. Just went by what the IDE Controller Driver is telling me. I'm not sure what it is. There is nothing wrong with the MBR on either drives. I can use them both as long as only one is plugged in at a time.
-
If by Disk Management then you mean Device Manager, then yes.... its there, windows shows me the serial code and everything. I just can't access it. Do I have to put one as slave and one as master? Or is it something else, windows sees that its there. Also, it tells me that one is at ATA 0 (current one running) Primary Channel. The other is at ATA 1, Primary Channel. I can even do a speed test from the nForce2 IDE controller through Device Manager.

I pulled a hard drive with Windows XP off a second computer, thing is that its not being recognized by my current hard drive's OS (which is also XP). The BIOS shows me its there, but windows won't let me look through it. In order to use it, I have to switch the connectors. Basically, I can only use one drive at a time. Windows won't let me look through both of them. What can I do?

You mean the green shortcut icon?

I would love to have a portable .NET 2.0 if that's possible. To intrusive as it is. And its a pain to get rid of most of the time.
-
SO what you're saying is... that's a long, long way away. Also, will you be releasing 4.7 final? Or will that be on the new base? Or are you going to start the new one on 4.8?
-
In my opinion, yes. Never crashed on me by itself. Only when I do something like overclock too much. Its a little problematic with drivers sometimes. I tried to install some drivers for my HP Printer. Supposedly the 'OS is not supported'. Took me a couple of hours but I got it to work with some modifications in the .ini files. Its a good OS if you want to put in some extra work. Also, many of the features like DirectX, Themes... and etc come disabled by default. So you have to turn them all on manually. They're all the same. There's just small differences in between the Standard, Enterprise... etc. Just the tools and such. Also, upgrade to Server 2003 SP2 if you have not done so already.

Turns out this 'leak' problem is being fixed. High K material in the new Penryn 45nm parts. Supposed to slash the power consumption. I think I'll wait a bit and buy one of the low end processors. Its coming out very soon, no? Also, what's up with Intel boards consuming more power than the AMD ones? And how big is the difference?
-
What I don't get is: Why does it consume so little when its 90nm? And why does an E2xxx consume much more when its smaller at 65nm?

I'm building so in the future I can put in a HDDVD/Blu-Ray combo drive.

Its not the resolution. Its the pixel density. How many pixels/area. Trust me. A 1920x1080 LCD-TV that's 60" is not 'too small for your eyes'.

Games cannot run on 1600x1200 with NVIDIA drivers
weEvil replied to Thunderbolt 2864's topic in Hardware Hangout
You're kidding right? You're trying to run 1600x1200 on a 22" LCD with native 1650x1050. Of course its going to window it. Also, about not having the resolution you want, you can make your own resolution. Look for .ini files. Usually called config.ini or something similar. Also, most games have consoles to tweak settings. Usually use the ~ key. Look up some tweak guides for the games in question. Here's a good start: http://www.tweakguides.com/ -
Seems a little underpowered. What about the Intel E2xxx series?
-
I like the 20" idea. More screen area. Also, if you just need any screen, you can find even 15" ones. Its usable.
