I need the hotfixes that came after SP3 for Office 2003. Where do I get them? I wish to download the individual hotfixes so I can slipstream them into the installation.

Feedback: Resource hog. This uses far too much memory for what it does. Ideas: It would be nice to include some kind of timer. Example: change wallpaper every X boots, or every X hours. Also, some kind of cropping utility. You put in the screen ratio you have and it crops the image (you have a box where you can select the chunk you want) so you avoid distortion from say putting a 16:10 wallpaper on a 4:3 monitor.

No its just what I'm running now. I feel comfortable with it. Maybe I'll switch to XP SP3 if it looks more stable.
-
Mostly 32-bit software. Since the move to 64-bit is very slow.
-
Thanks for the help guys. But I won't need this anymore. I'll just give my dad my old(er) Athlon XP box which flies with XP and plenty of ram onboard. I'll put together a new PC for myself. Thank you for the input.

Just saw an opteron on Newegg for $214.00 AMD Opteron 2344HE Barcelona 1.7GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB shared L3 Cache Socket F Quad Core Processor What would be an equivalent Intel processor at the same performance? (real-life, not synthetic) And would it be worth it to invest in this? Or should I look at an E6850? I'm worried about: 1. Future potential. 2. using 4 cores in Server 2003 32-bit or 64-bit (which works best?) 3. Power consumption 4. What in the hell is socket F!? And can I actually buy a board for it without selling a leg? Also, I just came across this when looking up Barcelona: http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/compon...39289773,00.htm What is up with the pricing?
-
Awesome. Thanks. What about the AMD offering? They're slashing prices like there's no tomorrow. Probably a good bang for buck. LOL! Maybe not. 1 Canadian dollar = 1.022077 U.S. dollars

I would let the PC run for awhile and then stick my hand in the case to see how hot the air is. If its dangerously high like you say.... it should be like a toaster oven after awhile. If its not, then maybe the sensors, or the software is messed up. Have you checked what the BIOS readouts say?

I need a PC. Any form factor, smaller is better. I need just the box. Mobo (built in video), CPU, 1GB ram (at least), HD if mobo needs one (have an old IDE one), case & psu. I was looking for a dependable value PC. Athlon X2 3800+, & ASUS motherboard. (or equivalent quality) Also, this has to be able to run Vista.

Sure. I did it for my 3900 series printer. It said the O/S is unsupported. So I looked for the .ini file which contained the O/S codes. I changed it from 501 -> 502 (server 2003 code) just so you know: 410 is win95, 490 is win98, 500 is 2000, and 501 is XP. Don't know about Vista, my guess is the build code is probably 601. Here is a sampe form the autorun.inf file. Its located in the driver pack. After it unpacks itself usiing FEAD 2.5, it leaves a 'Temp' folder where everything is unpacked. AdminRightRequired=1 RunIfFailureAsynch= RunIfFailureSynch= RunIfFailureSynchTimeout= RunIfWarningAsynch= RunIfWarningSynch= RunIfWarningSynchTimeout= OSList=410,490,500,501 MaxOS= MinSysDisk=300 RecSysDisk=681 MinDisk=1001 Notice the OSList? I just changed 501 to 502 and then it worked. I went through with notepad to change everything manually. There is another way by installing the driver through device manager. You select the .inf file in the 'Temp' folder to match to the hardware. So you go: Device Manager > Update Driver (thru right-click menu of the hardware you want to install driver for) > (Advanced) option> 'Don't Search' > 'Have Disk' and then look for the .inf in the 'Temp' folder where everything is unpacked. This other option doesn't work too often though, its a hit or miss for me.

There is a guide on MSFN that will walk you through making 2003 behave like XP. http://win2k3.msfn.org/ Have a look through that. Also, I reccomend looking at Black Viper's guide to disable useless services after you nLite the CD. I also reccomend XPize on the CD files, to make it look a little nicer. Replaces those dirty win95 style icons Microsoft forgot about. I personally had some problems with installing my HP printer. The drivers said 2003 is unsupported. I found a workaround by modding the .ini file in the drivers. You might have to do something like that in rare cases.

It's TERRIBLE! There's no fast forward button! -
Yeah, use one at a time.
-
Awesome!!! Gotta try it. Will there be an RC3? Or a final after this?
-
da! Iz fastester cuz its numbers is HIGHER! 2008 soundz faster than 2003! But seriously. Unless you have at least 2GB of ram, it will NOT perform faster. I know. Even PC games perform a little better. Higher framerate. Where do you get the updaes for 2003? I tried getting some off windizupdate since it downloads individual .exe's . No luck. I only got a couple of updates. Where can I find a list of post-SP2 download links for the hotfixes? LOL! Me too. I used Ubuntu since I was fed up with my XP system. It was much better, but then I found out more about 2003 so I decided to give it a shot. All the problems I had were gone. Its a more refined XP in my opinion. Goodbye Ubuntu.

1. Find out your MAX rsolution form your MX 440 2. If the resolution of your monitor is LESS than the maximum supported, then it works. Example: Card supports 2056x1600 max resolution. Your monitor is 1920x1200. It fits. It will work. However, you NEED to make sure that yuor card supports that resolution. If you give a monitor a lower resolution other than 1920x1200, like 720x400 (even though its widescreen) it will smudge and look really bad because LCDs stretch the image to fit. That is correct. And for best image quality, make sure that your videocard resolution output and the max resolution your LCD is designed for match. Errr, what are you asking here? Also, for the other dudes: What about dual DVI inputs and such? Or dual VGA? On a widescreen? Don't some have that?
-
It should. Check the specs. Here's the PNY version: http://www.pny.com/products/verto/disconti...e4/mx440agp.asp Drives two independent CRT displays with crisp and clear image quality at 2048x1536 resolution @ 75Hz And that's it. If you can go to a Widescreen resolution, that's all you need. Widescreen is just a different resolution. Istead of having 1600x1200 (4:3 aspect ratio) like on most normal displays you have 1650 x1050 (16:10 aspect ratio) which is widescreen. because its WIDE. That's it. Nothing to it. The most difficult you would have to do is to download the newest nVidia drivers and make your own cutom resolution to match the screen in the worst case scenario. Most drivers have a selection for widescreen resolutions anyway. BTW. Check to make sure that your MX 440 supports it. This is a PNY version, Verto Model I showed you. Not all manufacturers make them the same.

I use it and its awesome. And as for the specific service/tools, what services/tools? You can remove them thanks to nLite, you just have to know which ones they are. You might have overlooked them which is why you still have them. I have a liter system thanks to nLite + 2003 (and a few other tweaks & etc) than I ever did with XP Pro. You just have to know how to use the tool and leave in only what you need and nothing more. (Takes a bit of trial and error here)

It is more stable. Have had less problems than with XP. Which were rare on XP, but did happen. Well 2003 has even less, and since I had a copy I decided to make my life a little easier and use that. 2003 is a little more difficult to set up to work the same as XP, but when it does its a little bit faster and more responsive and uses little bit less memory. Basically its a more refined version of XP. Not a huge difference, but its better in my opinion. Oh yeah, don't bother with 2000. It was good long ago, but its place has been taken by XP/2003.

So are you going to be polishing up 4.7 beta 2 and releasing as-is? Or are you going to redo it on the new codebase and release it when its done? Basically what I'm asking is: Should I stick with 4.6? Or is 4.7 final coming around the corner soon? (month or so)

Awesome! Now what do you guys think of powerline ethernet? http://www.netgear.com/Products/PowerlineN...Home+Networking Netgear also offers WAP thru powerline networking.
-
Whoa. Where'd you get that? And how does it compare to say.. mainstream desktop cards. For 3D cad and such.
