Is that the 65nm one?
-
Lets suppose it was free.... How does it compare to other things like registry tweaks, modified drivers and etc? I am using tweaks for the registry. nLited system. No fancy XP-style eye 'candy' (I use that loosely) Tweaked drivers. And of course everything that does not need to be on is either turned off or removed altogether. Oh and the system is slightly overclocked. FSB only.

The Core 2 Mobile is supposed to only suck down 44 Watts. The performance Mobile one. X7900. 800mhz FSB & 2.8GHz core clock. How would this compare to a low end Core 2 Duo (or even a low power AMD one). Something like an E4xxx series or E2xxx series. The mobile one looks beefy, but then it also has a cut down FSB. Also, I've heard good things about the low power AMD processors. Mostly because the chipset sucks down less power compared to the Intel ones. This is for an HTPC system I would like to put together. Fanless, silent & cool.

I know. I just did a search. i just found the software, so I decided to see what the general consesus is. Done, done, and done. No Linux. Most friendly distros (sabayon, ubuntu.. even with XFCE) are slower than my nLited Server 2003. I'm waiting for AMD to release that Phenom, and their new set of graphics cards. Huge value hardware. In the meantime, I'm looking for something that can make the most out of the hardware that I have.
-
Any more developments on this? i just got the software. Trial versions. I need something to speed up my old(er) PC a bit. Got plenty of RAM (1 Gig) and I don't plan on upgrading hardware.

Opps. My bad. I thought it was FOR gaming. In that case it seems like a good mouse. I'd look at some other brands and models too. See what other types of 'air mice' there are. Scratch that. Its the only decent one I've found. No such thing as a 'multimedia' air mouse except logitech's.
-
If you're going to use it just to play games, then why not get a very precise wired gaming mouse? This is just one of those novelty items, like the iPhone and etc. On the other hand it looks like it could be awesome as a remote/basic mouse 2-in-1.

That's going to need at least 12,000 Watts.
-
That's true. I'd be a shame to see AMD sink under because of this mistake. I hope its just going to be a very painful lesson for them.
-
Maybe. But you can't just take in performance. What about performance per/watt? And price? Let's see those bargain prices and it will be flying off the shelves. (Phenom) Marketing B.S. They were trying to create artificial hype.

They're okay. AMD is currently Barcelona for servers if I'm not mistaken. So far they're slightly better than the Xeons on some things, mostly on par though at the same clock speed. Benches: http://www.anandtech.com/IT/showdoc.aspx?i=3091&p=1 Phenom is scheduled to be released in January. That's the desktop version of Barcelona. The 'true' quad core.
-
I'd wait for the new Core 2s if I were you. Yorkfield (quad version), and Wolfdale(dual core). They are made on the 45nm process. I think these should be released by Christmas time or early in 2008. Either that or wait for AMDs Phenom processors. They are supposed to be pretty good. The server versions (code name Barcelona) are okay. They're coming in January 2008. Different processor models have a different throughput per clock speed. No? Like the old Athlons vs the Pentium 4s. So in reality an Athlon 1.4 Ghz is =/= Pentium 4 1.4Ghz.

I've got an Athlon 1800+, 512mb ram, and a weak card... GeForce2. Can Vista run on this with vLite? I've tried a normal install, and its hell. Too much stuff running. Or is a better option to stick with XP/2003? What are the minimum specs for vista? (Yes I know there is no real reason for changing OSes, but I might as well get used to Vista early if its decent)

Thanks for the response. Also, since I'll be using my PC as a crude 'VGA-Box'. Would there be any delay? To get from the videocard and be processed to display on screen? This would suck for PS2 and DVD watching. Since the audio and video would be out of sync for me. Hooking up the appliances straight to my speaker system.
-
Supposedly my Ti4600 has the ability to capture video via the S-Video port in the back. So far I have used it to play video. How do I get it to capture/display video from a source like a DVD player? (I'm basically looking to display video appliances on my PC screen instead of a TV.) Also, I have been reading up and apparently there is some sort of 'dongle' to hook up to the S-Video port. (not really S-Video since it has some extra pins in there). The dongle is supposed to have an adaptor at the end to capture (or display) component. I know its an ancient card by today's standards, but any help would be appreciated.

Depends on price. If you can get the D945 under ~$60 then its a good deal. Otherwise E6600 all the way.
-
That's not an upgrade. That's a whole NEW pc. An upgrade means you beef up what you have. A little better memory, cpu... yadda yadda. You're replacing everything. In that case you have more choice. But if you still want to keep the older one, you're good with a 7800GS AGP.
-
What about only EAX 2.0 support? Don't the new versions offer more?
-
So you just mean being able to 'render' more sound then. Like more voices and individual effects in the background.
-
You mean signal post-processing with effects and stuff? I'm not savvy with audio equipment.
-
Don't the 2x00 Radeon Cards have Avivo HD encoding? Uses the GPU to encode the video.
-
Same here dude. Got my system 5 years ago. Works real nice though. Not good for games unless I want to play something a little more than a year old, but it can take everything else just fine. I'm also waiting until the G9. But so I can purchase and futureproff.
-
Ahhh. SO you're trying to futureproof for the long term. In that case an 8800GTS would be good. I would wait a little till around Christmas and nVidia releases their new bomb. The 9 series. Then you can get the older generation real cheap. That and the new hybrid SLi is planned to be released around that time. Good for gaming, and general computer use. Hybrid SLi means that when you use just simple apps the integrated graphics runs. But when you crank up to the games the integrated and the external both work together. Used only when needed. Great for keeping things cool and uses less power (average) too.

Oops. Didn't realize this was air cooling exclusive.
