  1. That's true. But the amount wasted becomes insignificant once you take into account the efficiency of the LEDs. Even with diffusers you still save more energy than alternatives. Even more energy is saved from manufacturing and materials over long term, once the life span is taken into account.
  2. Looks like I'll be hunting for my gold CD now.
  3. So when can I expect the cheap, unreliable, and possibly made of lead clones to flood the market?
  4. Mirrors and diffusers can give a nice glow. The real problem I see with LEDs is the price. A real replacement (natural colored and intensity) LED light would cost far more than incandescent or CFL.
  5. Good to know. But would that just be junk space on the CD? Or on the hard drive also.
  6. Hardware section. And show us the slot. One picture of the motherboard slot, and another of the CPU you pulled out. Does it have some kind of adaptor? Otherwise you are trying to put a CPU in a board that was designed for another generation.
  7. Considered xable's post-sp2 update pack? It contains all the critical updates so its very light.
  8. I've seen a few threads making Pre-Activated Installs using the OEMBIOS files. Is it possible to do the same thing using a non-OEM system? I would like to do this for Server 2003 Standard Edition. I'd like to do this because I'm building a customized nLite installation CD. I want to remove the activation system. OOBE.
  9. Why would it matter if its gold? SP3 also contains SP1 + SP2 updates inside.
  10. LEDs are around the corner. Not a problem.
  11. Did you like the trip to 2002?
  12. Check Tom's Hardware. They have all sorts of benchmark comparisons.
  13. My Toshiba laptop (1 year old) has LCD hardware scaling on/off. It has the x1300 chipset integrated. Its very possible on newer hardware & displays.
  14. He mentioned before English is not his native language. Easy to mistake.
  15. Bump. I currently need a solution also.
  16. He wanted to know about CPU decay. Integrated Chips.
  17. You can install just the core of Ubuntu. If you want a simple, lite GUI then get Xubuntu. It uses XFCE. Even lighter is Fluxbox & IceWM.
  18. Electron Migration. Untested. Not sure if its a myth.
  19. I like Handy Recovery 4.0 Its easy to use. Great for newbies and simple recoveries (aka: not as powerful and full featured as the more complex alternatives)
  20. I have a Ti4600 soft-modded to a Quadro4 900XGL for workstation purposes. Its for Rhinoceros 3.0 I need some benches to do some optimizations, overclocking... etc. Its OpenGL 1.4 based.
  21. I'd like a dog as a pet. Not as a car security system.
  22. I would do a very thorough investigation, so you can prevent this in the future. Maybe a crazy PSU? Power spike? Why would the card simply start burning?
  23. Couple of microphones. External. A daylight dash camera, high res if possible. This would be a passive security system. Brainstorming Specs: ------------------------- I'm thinking of hooking up a nice CF drive (or hard disk with protection). A small VIA CPU, or the new Intel Atom if it comes out soon. Integrated graphics.
  24. Higher efficiency is better! This would be running 24/7 off my battery.
  25. Chill out guys. There's no way they will release something that is slower. People would buy the 8xxx series if they did.
