Yup. It was a bunch of drivers in SP1.cab & SP2.cab and some other junk. Once removed, it works just fine. Thanks man.

I know lots of Firefox users that have MS systems. Some have OSX and fewer have Linux. Firefox is becoming THE choice of browsers as its share of the market increases every year.

The Vista desktop was a good idea but poorly done. I like the fact that its hardware rendered as opposed to software. No more tearing when moving windows. I hate the fact that there are so many useless special effects. It should be more conservative.

I was going to try to do a dump of the contents of each machine onto a USB stick. This makes it much easier. I'll do this on the source and try to remove the ~30mb before it decompresses on the HD.

So what about all the extra folders? I'm assuming drivers are located in the INF, LastGood, and Driver Cache.

They mentioned it was not possible on the early GF8 cards. Something about not being able to power down and restart the card as needed. I think they renamed to avoid confusion. I would buy the 9xxx series. It better be priced the same as the current 8xxx series though.

I wanted to see what would happen if I overlapped service packs on each other. Used: 1. Innotek Virtualbox 2. XP Home CD. SP0. Unattended only. 3. SP3-5503, SP2, SP1a. 4. nLite 1.4.1 Results: Single Slipstream - SP3 C: 9233 Files, 575 Folders = 1.13GB, 1.00GB on disk. Triple Slipstream - SP3 + SP2 + SP1 C: 9260 Files, 590 Folders = 1.14GB, 1.01GB on disk. Count was done immediately post-install. No restart. Nothing modified. I selected the contents of C: and just got a count from explorer. What could be causing the size difference? Is there any way to compare the contents to find the extra junk? Would it be useful to try HFSLIP too?

PR department? For a laptop, if its a tablet PC then get Vista. Its slower, and uses more battery but it has better support for tablets. Otherwise use XP Pro. Support wont stop coming for awhile, 2013 I think.

Third that. XP just works. Vista looks nicer, and has a few new features. They're not groundbreaking enough to upgrade. Performance is significantly worse. Plus with the news of Windows7 in 2010, we can just wait 2 years. Why bother with Vista?

Confirmed. The 9xxx naming is due to hardware changes: 1. Dual GPUs on a card. 2. Hybrid SLi - allows integrated GPU to be on, or integrated + discrete in SLi.

This would explain the poll: Vista is like the pretty broad with an empty head, that constantly argues with you. XP is like the homely maid that will do your dishes, clean your apartment, and cook dinner in record time.

I have an nForce2 board. I have a custom driver pack good for all nForce boards. I want to install the driver manually using the "have disk" option. This is what is inside the main folder: Inside legacy: Which one do I pick? I know its not SATA, or RAID. That leaves legacy and the main one. How would I find out?

DLL cache is not needed once you install all the drivers. Help files are crap anyway. These instructions sound similar to the Bold_Fortune XP Slimming guide.
