  1. https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=30769&p=247631 Many thanks! but it seems that no positive feedback there. as I said before, better test with theirs before creating something like this in their side. mentioning my things there is not a good idea as always.

  3. Yes, a great tool. I also have been using it for years but an older professional version. And there is a further one from Nirsoft called BlueScreenView.

  4. When a BSOD occurs in my Windows XP system, the very first thing I do is to analyse the associated crash dump file via WinDbg which is a multipurpose debugger for the Microsoft Windows computer operating system, distributed by Microsoft. The blue BSOD screen itself is not really meaningful. WinDbg can identify all the files involved in the crash, in particular faulty drivers or modules from third-party providers, and has always helped me a lot in the past. However, I very rarely have BSODs in my systems. But with the help of such analyses, for example, I found out during my last BSOD that WiseVector StopX collided with 360Chrome, which immediately led to a solution. There is also this excellent site https://www.jasik.de/shutdown/stop_fehler.htm with information on almost all stop codes with help and more details. However, it is a German site, but the linked MSDN articles are in English. Apart from that, every page can be translated, of course.

  5. I totally agree. Mentioning you or your forks is not really a good idea on the Pale Moon forum. I can literally feel and read the hostility, arrogance and aversion there. There is a lack of friendliness and respect in this forum. That's why I haven't posted there for a long time.

  7. But there's something else I keep asking myself. Why is your Windows XP 32-bit running SP2? After SP2 came SP3. And then hundreds of updates for SP3 and additionaly hundreds more POSReady updates. This means that in total (SP3 included) presumably at least 1000 updates are missing from a Windows XP SP2 system.

  8. I live in a house built in the 17th or 18th century, it still has a big and functioning wood oven from bricks, but I don't use it anymore, will you guess why yourself? And now I have eight air-conditioners in my flat. Yes, I still don't own the full house, but I intend to. It's only six flats. When I do, I hope the temperature in it will go down due to the now absent dwellers. I'm now in the process of making money for the purchase, it's a very expensive place, so I don't know how long it will take, but I'll make sure to notify. Is it good enough for the scientific proof? Edit: I live in Vichy, in case you're wondering,

  10. Yep , you're right , it's not ! It's a download manager included with this browser. I didn't test it long enough to be 100% sure , but during my test - no hostile connections found . Kaspersky and yandex are the planet's danger and real malware , that's what people should be worried about .

  11. I do not know 'bout yours , but I was able to create a very slim and stable version of Vista with nlite , with some trial and error , of course. I'd say quite fast.

  12. Yep , but considering the current state of my "updates level" (which is none) , I'd say your XP is much newer than my Vista. I even deleted net 4.5 because I do not have any programmes that need it.

  13. Like you post and agree . But still : you got crashes and I don't , though I'm on a "non-supported" OS too. So we need to figure out why . But let's imagine you will show some trust, so I won't have to prove every step with screnshoots (which is a pain in the @rse with these several kb limits) , because I'm really trying to help you. Well , I tried your version 2206 (the last , I think , version says reb.3.) with many tabs opened (approx. 15 videos with US and Canadian IPs) , I did not have any crashes . BUT this version automatically switched most of the videos to 480p quality (!). And , also , I noticed it shows favicons (you asked about earlier) , while mine don't ! Why ? I dunno . Perhaps I axed much much more and it gained stability , but some of this nonsense doesn't work anymore. One more interesting thing , while it gives a clean start (without hostile connections) , later it tried to connect to "rokion.com" , it happened while playing youtube videos . Ads ? Who the hell is rokion com ? Some American store , the key word is american (because of the chosen IP , I guess) , perhaps your crashes may have something to do with the cookies trying to load scripts or ads, this is all hard to diagnose . In any case , I could give you my version , but then again , since there's no trust , you may start saying smth like "Dixel is trying to infect me with a virus" , lol.

  14. Made another screencap with another IP , updated the image (see the prev. post), UN - muted all tabs . Still , I do not see any "favicons" ,as you call them, at all . Perhaps because I blocked everything I could !

  15. @Dave-H Hi, to have the external 3TB GPT data disk recognized via eSATA connection, if your motherboard has a free PCI Express slot, you can try a PCIEx to eSATA card equipped with the ASMedia 1061 chipset. About the driver for this card you can download the Asmedia ASM-106x Sata controller driver package v3.3.2 or v3.3.3 and install the asahci32.sys v3.2.0 (both packages contain the identical version 3.2.0) from the "scsi" folder without doing any modifications for the .sys and .inf files. In my system, in addition to this driver I used the disk.sys v5.2.3790.4006 and partmgr.sys v5.2.3790.4171 from Win2003, and scsiport.sys v5.1.2600.6073. The Paragon GPT driver is no longer needed. Here is an image of my 8TB GPT data disk connected as an external drive to the eSATA port of the ASM1061 card: On the first boot (and probably on every reboot) with the GPT disk connected, the "File System Check" screen for the GPT disk may appear. I preferred to disable permanently this check for the GPT drive (and also for all drives) by modifying the value "BootExecute" under the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager". In addition to the above, there is also an alternative way in case you have an intel board. Below an image: This time to get GPT disk recognition you need the driver asahci32.sys v2.0.3.1 and a small modification to the .inf file (I think no hint is needed for it :)). In your case, no longer need for PCIEx card. A simple bracket with an eSATA port as has already been suggested to you is enough, and most likely, again, the eSATA connection should work as intended for your external GPT disk. Obviously, a GPT data disk can be also used as internal drive connected to a free sata port.

  18. Comparing to Celeron, Pentium is of a higher tier, especially if we compare desktop to notebook (Toshiba). Besides, my laptop had 512MB of RAM, it was the highest possible amount for the early 2003. Later I upgraded it to 1GB of DDR ram. That was the max. amount the chipset allowed.

  21. ST3000DM001, introduced by Seagate in 2011, is the famous Deathstar v2.0. I was under the impression you knew that, didn't you, Dave? "This particular drive model was reported to have unusually high failure rates" "In July 2021, 9to5Mac reported that because the disk was included in the Apple Time Capsule it started to show high failure rates. The issue was caused by the parking ramp that was made out of different materials, according to the German data recovery company Datenrettung.[5]" Class action "In 2016, Seagate faced a class action over the failure rates of its ST3000DM001 3 TB drives.[4][6][7][8] Law firm Hagens Berman filed the lawsuit on 1 February in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and primarily cited reliability data provided by Backblaze." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ST3000DM001

  23. This is the worst suggestion to follow in cases where the disk is failing. Especially with /r parameter, which is pointless if you're dealing with bad sectors, they will only spread faster since it's a physical problem. Even /f alone can be destructive in some cases, you can turn bootable installation into unbootable one. c0000005 means STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION, very generic on its own, simply means the code in process that crashed tried to access virtual address that doesn't exist / where nothing is mapped. Good hint...I got old XP SP2 CD, but I forgot the Product Key for it years ago, so can't finish the install to test...@we3fan may try and test this mpc-hc.exe instead of the original. 24. There was an issue with BSOD on old builds of Windows XP. It was caused by a manifest resource embedded in the exe. But it was on SP1. I don't recall if SP2 was affected. I solved it by installing a more recent copy of sxs.dll ( read KB921337 KB943232 ) https://msfn.org/board/topic/171473-recent-software-can-crash-xp-sp1/ Maybe you have a virus that causes a crash of csrss.exe, or it could be related to Data Execution Prevention.

  25. Thanks for sharing your settings! Due to compatibility reasons, I removed the self-update function of the internal list of the default filter lists which are directly available after installation of uBlock Origin. This internal list is no longer maintained or updated by the developers and is unfortunately obsolete. Thus, I maintain this internal list in my releases by myself from now on. I know the source https://filterlists.com/ very well and installed a few filter lists from there in the past. So if there are still maintained filter lists that are particularly valuable or effective, I will add them to the default ones. Abandoned or not working illter lists will be removed if I am aware of. Both lists, EasyList (Optimized) and EasyPrivacy (Optimized), will be added in my coming release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31 due to your positive experiences with them. Thanks again for your opinion!

  26. This is always to be expected with old, no longer really further developed extensions for UXP browsers & co. and is generally unavoidable. If it only affects a few pages, it's easy to get over. I will also test the two websites with my upcoming release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31.

  30. VLC 2.2.x UN-patched with beautiful Vista buttons , now with these high quality pictures , which I spent some time to deliver , I assume one can see that patching is only a 50/50 solution at best , and I really hope this will help TCHEGEEK to finally notice the difference on his display . By the way , @TECHGEEK , have you ever considered writing to the developers of VLC directly ? I mean with your advanced skills of communicating with other people , I guess they will finally shed some light on what's really going on .

  31. And what I'm trying to say , Aero buttons are still absent even in 2.2.8 (not to mention 3.x.x.) and even with the hex edit. (do you want me to repeat again?) Yes , I agree with Dixel , they somewhat look better after hexing , some curves are added , they don't look as flat as before , but nowhere near the previous ones , that you (and most of us) wanted to see . So hexing is NOT the ultimate solution , it's better to roll-back to earlier versions , 2.2.6 something. I don't quite understand how "testing again using a maximised window" will help with the aero look in the butoons . I'm just starting to think you don't understand English well enough , or have a poor LCD display and simply can't see the obviuos difference , excuse me if I'm wrong (in advance) , but it's pretty obvious and shown well enough at Dixel's picture with the patched 3.3.x and NOT patched 2.2.x . Also , his upper frame looks prettier than the one that you provided , I mean the shape , not the colour , since it is his own customized colour. In case you don't agree or understand again , please refrain from asking me 'cause I simply can't tell you anything new apart from what I've already said , please ask other members if they see the obvious differnce at the Dixel's picture .

  32. 1 - You mean the first picture in this topic where aero is totally absent ? I can't reproduce it no matter how hard I try , Ive tested on an a clean install , without any mods. I mean , yeah , I can find a newer version where the buttons will be flat , but the aero is always working with all versions ! Known or had it youself ? If it is easily reproduced , could you show us a pic. ? I'm curious. Thanks. 2 - The screen of the user named @Dixel clearly shows that aero is working and it is transparent , in both versions, patched and unpatched , don't you see ?
    1 point
  33. @TECHGEEKusually has the most rare problems , unique problems I'd say , which others don't. I've never had any issues with VLC's Aero on Vista . It worked without any patching , as you can see by my first post in this topic , before your suggestion , but it improved buttons on the newer versions , added some curves to them , so don't cut yourself short , it's definitely the dev's who are to blame. But I wouldn't say "a bit different" , I'd say they are almost invisible . It's hard to see the signs on the buttons.

  35. Hello , that's a very fine research ! I can confirm it also works with MPC-HC (a very similar player , also free) . By any chance , do you know how to force DTS HD with MPC-HC ? It's quite OK in terms of picture quality , but it's sound defaults to simple DTS (compressed core or even PCM stereo) , if any HD track is selected in options. VLC plays DTS HD with receiver just fine . But with MPC-HC , not . Thanks.

  41. maybe you have bad connection and/or bad video drivers? just tried KM76-Goanna on IDT WinChip 240MHz with Win2000, it renders a page within 1minute.

  42. You can use my build of K-Meleon with LAV codecs!

  43. not possible. Goanna2(i.e. Gecko24) has no infrastructure to ffmpeg libraries. EDIT: It could be possible, just very hard. MSE, fmp4 and libstagefright has to be backported to get it working, but infrastructure has big differences.

  44. because 26 is Gecko24 based while 27 is Gecko38 based. for LAV dlls, please see FAQ.
