  1. I was able to login in with OAth2 using MailNews with an outlook account. I had to go in the config editor and set *general.useragent.compatMode.firefox* to true. Then the Microsoft login page displayed properly and worked. Hope it helps some folks, I am using windows server 2003

  2. There are now (at the end of 2025) very, very few anti-malware programmes for Windows XP with real-time protection free of charge. Panda Free Antivirus is an absolute exception. It is still maintained and runs under Windows XP. Here are two screenshots of the current version 22.03.05, which has just been released: An anti-malware programme with a most recent scan engine and up-to-date virus definitions even under very old OSes like Windows XP or Windows Vista. What more could be wanted? Here is the link to my updated article: Cheers, AstroSkipper

  3. This thread is about anti-malware programmes under Windows XP. BTW, there is definitely no need to use an "ancient version of whatever" under Windows 10. And talking about your "ancient version" is like "beating a dead horse". A version of this programme running under Windows XP has not been available for a long time. And it gets even worse: the programme is not secure, and its country of origin is beyond good and evil. In my next article, I will post something current for Windows XP.

  4. Personally, I don't expect modern websites that are full of multimedia or completely overloaded to still run in UXP browsers under old OSes like Windows XP, but I am happy about those that still do. All others are called up by me under Android 10 and above. That's why I'm extremely relaxed about the whole thing. The more websites running in New Moon or Serpent, the better, but if not, then that's just the way it is.

  5. You can try it if you are frustrated with XP fltmgr that bogs down internet browsing with many mini-filters installed. In KB2839229 for WinXP there are just kernel files, in KB2839229 for Win2003 there is also a fltmgr.sys, which is updated version build5107, from before build3959. You can replace WinXP_SP3 build 5512 with this one, but ONLY fltmgr.sys (overwrite) and you preserve fltmgr service settings XP-factory. Works well so far, without hitches. I used Hiren's Boot CD to perform replacement in my XP_uSP4 (in my installation locations are: Windows/system32/drivers, Windows/ServicePackFiles/i386 and Windows/system32/dllcache). UPDATE The 2003 version still causes hitches which show the next day (after shutdown), no matter how many restarts I did the first day... ReactOS also doesn't have a working version of fltmgr... For now I have restored XPSP3 fltmgr and put an empty place in GroupOrderList between the minifilters (e.g. A with tag=4, 5 none, B with tag=6).

  6. Hello, as you are probably aware, Windows has problems with long paths (total length > 260 characters). --- In old Windows versions there is the "\\?\"-trick, which helps in a few situations: --- Starting with Windows 10, it is possible to allow specific applications to use longer paths. According to the documentation, Microsoft modified specific functions of the API to allow using longer paths for specific applications in Windows 10. So the list of functions is rather interesting. And here it is: CopyFileW CopyFile2 CopyFileExW CreateDirectoryW CreateDirectoryExW CreateFileW CreateFile2 CreateHardLinkW CreateSymbolicLinkW DeleteFileW FindFirstFileNameW FindFirstFileW FindFirstFileExW FindFirstStreamW FindNextFileNameW FindNextFileW FindNextStreamW GetCompressedFileSizeW GetCurrentDirectoryW GetFileAttributesW GetFileAttributesExW GetFinalPathNameByHandleW SetFileAttributesW GetFullPathNameW GetLongPathNameW MoveFileW MoveFileExW MoveFileWithProgressW RemoveDirectoryW ReplaceFileW SearchPathW SetCurrentDirectoryW --- Is anyone aware of any pioneer work that has been done to improve the situation with Windows versions older than Windows 10?

  7. I was having many problems with Mypal68 74.1.2 shutting down on many websites ... after updating to Mypal68 74.1.3 in early December, all those problems have gone away. Mypal68 74.1.3 is very stable for my WinXP system with only a 'very rare' shutdown. I also use New Moon but it has problems with some websites. Mypal68 74.1.3 has now become my main WinXP daily browser. Thanks for your work and this newer update. ...

  8. AstroSkipper ... Just came across you're updated information dealing with Windows XP and Panda Free Antivirus. Around two weeks ago I was actually looking for any antivirus programs still working with WinXP in 2025. Didn't find any after doing a quick search on some programs that worked many years ago and reading your earlier post on the subject. Thanks again for the update on this valuable information for Windows XP users. ...

  9. I can report that on my end (Serpent 52 and Chrome v140 on Win10) that various WebGL web sites *DO* work on my Intel i7-4770 but do *NOT* work (same exact Windows install, same exact browser profile) on my Intel Core2 Quad Q6700. On my i7-4770, it *seems to be* tied to having five monitors and Serpent 52 has to be forced to use what about:support labels as #2 (by disabling #1 in Device Manager). So HARDWARE *does* dictate whether the map will load or not!

  10. For the record, WebGL is (and always has been) *ENABLED* on my profiles. MSFN Membership (at the time) "hype and propaganda" and "overly-paranoid" had it disabled in the uploaded/shared 360Chrome config. Only to later be ENABLED because most "this web site doesn't work" were dang near always tied to WebGL. ie, I eventually started IGNORING the "overly-paranoid".

  11. New release Mypal68 74.1.3 "BUGS IN THIS VERSION 1. xiaoxiaoflood broken 2. DOH is broken, if enable it crashes the browser Pay attention avif format is not added yet, if you get pictures not showed which was fine, then set the version to 91 for the specific site, this is like aliexpress. Added experimental setting "media.ffmpeg.skip_loop_filter" for low end machines, affects h264 and vp8 ffmpeg decoders" https://codeberg.org/Theodor2/Mypal68/releases

  12. Most locations the system counted as secure, safe, didn't get a captcha, only the word or similar, simple riddles. Mostly the ones that speak&spell in British English. I think, it's out of supervisor's control and was driven by a script.

  14. @Monroe Actually, uBO 1.62 is compatible with FF78 and up. And uBO 1.65 is compatible with FF92 and up. But as @feodor2 wrote, one can't rely on version numbers in Mypal anymore, it is now a mix of different ones. So, only trial and error is the game. Personally, I prefer uBO 1.62 at the moment since I don't want to go too far away from FF68 or FF74. Who knows what would be missing if you moved too far away from FF68 in terms of compatibility. OTOH, do not think if something is compatible with FF68, it has to work in Mypal. That's water under the bridge. Think, for example, of the Nuchi-Sporif script loading method which no longer works in Mypal! P.S.: This and the last few posts are an exception. Everything concerning extensions, custom buttons, CSS stylesheets or UC.JS scripts and their loaders in Mypal will be dealt by me with in this dedicated thread: I personally consider this thread here for the Mypal browser itself. At the moment, my favourite version of Mypal is 68.14.8b.

  15. @Karla Sleutel, some guy says he found a solution for 7, most likely, supposedly must work for Vista. Dave may need to save it for the future use with the kernel 136, when more of the troubles will arise. I translated from CatsXP forum. chrome://flags/#ignore-gpu-blocklist https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/1390#issuecomment-2860420313

  16. XP is a different matter. Also, you most likely use DX9 wherever is possible, XP simply can't use anything else. Win7 and Vista (DirectX11) is another subject. I highly doubt Karla uses Windows XP. And it's also proven "Supermium lags on a clean windows server 2012 r2 and windows 7 with update kb4474419". Overall lagging can contribute to the poor, choppy video playback, no? https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/1357

  17. I read the ruzkies made a repack with this version . The author (repacker) name is Cento8. Sadly, I have no links. It's hard for me to search in their language.

  18. Sorry but no , I always compare to 13.5 and write about it in every post . I don't even have 11.0 . Again , on my system with the ancient 2008-2009 tech, both runs fine . But Kaftan's rendering is tad faster and more pleasant. I can't count any seconds because it opens in 0.00000001 or smth like that.

  22. @Dave-H Look at this one http://thehotfixshare.net/board/index.php?/files/file/10247-windowsxp-kb968730-x86-enuexe/. It's an update of crypt32.dll, version 5.131.2600.5779 of 2009. The version in my systen32 folder is more recent, it's version 5.131.2600.6459 of 2013.

  23. Error code 0x80070002 means ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND i.e. the System cannot find the file specified. You have to check your Windows Update Log to see which file can't be found and why.

  24. @Dave-H And I've taken a short look at your status of system services. Three system services are absolutely important for MU: bits, wuauserv and cryptsvc. These services should be started and set to automatic. So please set bits and cryptsvc to automatic! And truth be told you should have seen that. Short explanation: not all services could be started if they are set to manual only. Even your web site https://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-xp-x86-32-bit-service-pack-3-service-configurations/ has a recommended setting of automatic (started) for service cryptsvc. And in my screenshots too. Maybe bits works with mode manual too, seems to be standard but in my system I've set it to automatic. By the way thanks for this interesting link!

  25. @Dave-H The idea was only showing Microsoft system services in window of ServiWin sorted by company. Please new screenshots! And you may and should stay at HTTPSProxy but you know you can have both. They are portable and have their own certificates. We have fixed a lot in your system, maybe something has changed and ProxHTTPSProxy is now working you'll never notice. It's just a game called trial and error. PS I don't know how you usually start ProxHTTPSProxy but it has to be started by ProxHTTPSProxy_PSwitch.exe to let it change proxy settings automatically.

  26. I do not run vms in my system. My Windows XP Professional is non virtual but a real one. Maybe you ask one who is running vms too. As I said some posts above there is no need to run ProxhttpsProxy in most cases. Nevertheless I think it should be possible to run one instance in your basic system if supported to provide a HTTPSProxy connection for a vm. Maybe there is a possibility to configure your vm to use this basic HTTPSProxy connection. But just a guess! Never done before!
