  1. yeah, but it is too late to replace the release. for a workaround, replace xul.dll from previous release should be fine.

  2. ... This only means further/wider proliferation of such MITM anti-crawler "services", with the web becoming even more "unpleasant" as time moves on (with a greater impact, of course, on older browser engines, on old/weak H/W); what's the point of having 500 (or more) Mbps fiber internet speeds when every tab you open in your browser will need additional time to pass complex JS tests? FTR, I keep, for historical purposes, a "portable copy" of NM27 (not the last one published, though), which isn't able to pass the Anubis test (e.g., on RPO Gitea repos); and even Serpent 52 struggles passing that test, especially if I don't disable "security/privacy"-oriented solutions (extensions and/or userscripts); privacy also falls victim here, because you're given no other choice on such web-policing "services": either "open" your "privacy fences" or be denied access to the site you're after ... This is all depression-inducing ...

  3. It's Cloudflare, Jim, but not as we know it. Anubis is another clunky piece of software developed by people who believe that only selected browsers are allowed to use the internet. It seems to be predicated on the idea that any non-conformant browser must be evil. Ironically, https://forums.mozillazine.org/ are using the exact same thing. Ben.

  7. The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be. Been here before Dave, we covered this back in 2017. Simple fix with a Server 2003 version of USBPORT.SYS. daniel_k's solution appears to be the best of the various different packages that address the PAE limit.

  8. Anubis (from Egyptian mythology) was also the name of a villainous character on the Stargate SG-1 television series. AI crawling sounds bad but I'm not sure why, what it is, how it differs from ordinary Web crawling, or why robots.txt cannot be relied on.

  9. I've been having problems with my installation of Supermium on 32-bit XP, where tabs crash with an 'out of memory' error. This happens particularly on Facebook. You can see the RAM being eaten on the Task Manager as I scroll the Facebook newsfeed, until eventually it falls over. I read up here about ways to get 32 bit XP to see more RAM, and eventually I found this patch. It seemed very simple to implement (and undo!) compared with some of the other possible solutions being discussed here, so I thought I would give it a try. I wasn't very confident, expecting a BSOD at worst, and other issues even if that didn't happen. To my amazement, at least on my system, it seems to have worked perfectly! The system now reports 16GB of RAM available, which is great. Unfortunately, it hasn't fixed the browser crashing problem. If I scroll Facebook now, Task Manager still shows the RAM being eaten, but when there's still apparently loads still left, the browser tab still crashes with the same 'out of memory' error. I suspect that this isn't a problem peculiar to Supermium, it would probably happen with any recent Chromium-based browser. So, anyone any idea why this is still happening? It is simply because it's a 32-bit browser, so perhaps can't access more than a limited amount of RAM, regardless of how much is available? If so, is this an insurmountable problem? Any suggestions gratefully received! Cheers, Dave.

  17. If I have understood you correctly now, then the logger of uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.3x does not show these noop things because in the these versions (before 1.16.6b1) the function "redirect-rule=" is not implemented and therefore can't be logged but only "redirect=". Right?

  18. Update notification! - uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.35 - Special mod by @AstroSkipper I have again updated my special mod uBlock Origin Legacy from version 1.16.4.34 to version 1.16.4.35. As already described, you can install this version over an existing installation of uBlock Origin Legacy (1.16.4.34 and higher). The immediate loading of the updated, internal list of all preselected filter lists (assets.json) can be triggered by the function "Purge all caches" and "Update now". Then reload the dashboard page! I changed the link of an important filter list to get the most recent version. More details can be found in the changelog. in my main article, and of course the download link. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  21. ... The "optimizejars.py" script is contemporary with the Firefox ESR 17 release, i.e. late 2012 (!) : https://dxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-esr17/source/config/optimizejars.py https://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-esr17/raw-file/tip/config/optimizejars.py Until that period, it was actually part of Mozilla Firefox's (open) source code... Later on, Mozilla deprecated that script and opted to use (non-public) omni.ja optimising routines built inside their compilers' infrastructure ... So, the publicly available optimising script is a reflection of how omni.ja optimisation was done in 2012, but I find is an acceptable approximation for, at least, the FxESR 52 era (2017) ... I haven't actually followed the rest of that story on Firefox versions > 52.9.0, because Mozilla dropped support for my OS... This all regarding the official Pale Moon browser is quite a different story ; for "normal" omni.ja archives, in order to extract them successfully with 7-zip without the header warnings, you first have to de-optimise them, as already reported by @DanR20 : Place "omni.ja" adjacent to the script, then (with py2.7.18 installed) run: python optimizejars.py --deoptimize ./ ./ ./ Then extract the de-optimised archive with the program of your choice... As for "palemoon.res", this is indeed a renamed "omni.ja" file, but Moonchild, in an attempt to protect his copyrighted resources, decided to pack it with a custom encryption/optimisation, utilising the Brotli compression encoder, in a way to specifically thwart normal extracting applications ; if you ask me, it was just to vex those advanced PM users who were accustomed to making special modifications to the browser by modifying code extant inside omni.ja itself... I have kept records and the "encrypted"/un-extractable omni.ja archives first appeared in: PaleMoon_unstable-29.0.0a6-uxp-master-git-20201114-g511ac54-pm-master-git-20201114-g07d3f0a.win32[buildID=20201114181134] omni.ja was renamed to core.dll at that time; the final renaming to palemoon.res was implemented in the next unstable build: PaleMoon_unstable-29.0.0a6-uxp-master-git-20201116-g241f06b-pm-master-git-20201117-g86b6cb4.win32[buildID=20201117182045] The first stable PM version with its "omni.ja => palemoon.res" archives made un-extractable was v28.16.0; there were some complaints in their forum, but soon all was forgotten ; if you'd care to read, some links (there are more ) : https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?p=204401#p204401 https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?p=204337#p204337 https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?p=216675#p216675 https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?p=229232#p229232 ... The great JustOff to the rescue: https://github.com/JustOff/mozjarr/tree/master However, I have no intention of upsetting MC and co. at all ; this tool exists, but JustOff's traces are currently lost ; that fact alone makes the tool itself probably an "abandonware"; besides, this community here is not in need of it, because @roytam1 has not followed MCP's path and "omni.ja" files in all of his UXP releases remain user-readable/extractable ; in any case, under normal conditions, a simple user shouldn't even mess with those archives: https://mike.kaply.com/2013/05/06/dont-unpack-and-repack-omni-jar/ (the latest case where the maintainer himself posted instructions necessary to fix the "about:addons" bug in latest St52 is just an exception to that rule ...)

  24. Sorry, I thought you are the creator of these new xpmod-sse binaries on https://rwijnsma.home.xs4all.nl/files/ffmpeg/?C=M;O=D. Do you know who the author of these binaries is? By the way there are a lot of free German VPN or German proxy servers but anyway I need new binaries only for Windows XP. So your link https://ffmpeg.org/download.html#build-windows does not help and I think there is something going wrong by building these specific new xpmod-sse binaries so the original coder of FFmpeg can't help. Help of the creator of these specific new xpmod-sse binaries is needed! Thanks so far

  25. Thanks for very quick reply! I'm not getting "HTTP error 403 Forbidden" for both urls. I think you have to be in Germany to watch these streams due to terms of license . Maybe you can test it with a German VPN. I triied a German VPN and it works too. ffplay.exe of old legacy build ffmpeg-N-93674-g1e01f66-win32-static_legacy can play these streams without errors in Germany or using German VPN but using any new xpmod-sse builds no chance. In the command line log window I can see "skip...." endless lines. Then I got error message of windows. Maybe you want a log of these errors? It seems the new ones can't find audio streams and so on.

  26. Hello, I use the FFmpeg for Windows XP builds to watch Live TV streams. Really nice work and thanks for that. But there is a problem. All new xpmod-sse builds work great and better than the old legacy ones except with Live streams of two German local channels ZDF and ZDFneo. The stream urls are https://zdf-hls-15.akamaized.net/hls/live/2016498/de/med/master.m3u8 and https://zdf-hls-16.akamaized.net/hls/live/2016499/de/med/master.m3u8. ffplay.exe of old legacy build ffmpeg-N-93674-g1e01f66-win32-static_legacy can play these streams without errors. Something must have changed by modifying I think. Any ideas? Thanks and regards
