  2. Resource Hacker is unfortunately no longer compatible with Windows XP. Resource Hacker 5.1.7 is the last XP-compatible installer release. Resource Hacker 5.1.8 is the last XP-compatible portable release. As this thread targets Windows XP only, the original links in my initial post point to the most recent versions which no longer work under Windows XP. Therefore, I'll edit my post to get the correct versions again via archived links from the Wayback Machine. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  6. @Dave-H Just for fun, I tried to open the website https://chi.uk2.net/ in 360Chrome 13.5 Build 1030 Redux. I got no green padlock and the hint the connection is not secure when connected in both ways, directly or via ProxHTTPSProxy. I then closed the proxy, deleted all certificates stored in ProxHTTPSProxy's Certs folder and performed an update of the cacert.pem file. I then started the proxy and called up the website https://chi.uk2.net/ again. Now, the connection is reported as secure with a green padlock. Here is a screenshot: I don't know why your credentials are no longer filled in automatically when connected directly but I assume it is certificate related due to the age of 360Chrome. In any case, you should not forget to maintain your ProxHTTPSProxy installation in terms of its certificates, i.e, purging the Certs folder and executing the cacert Updater from time to time.

  7. Just an idea. Have you already patched and removed the limit on TCP connection attempts in the tcpip.sys file in your Windows XP installation? This can be done, for example, with the tool xp-AntiSpy, or manually following the instructions here: https://www.speedguide.net/articles/windows-xp-sp2-tcpipsys-connection-limit-patch-1497/p-2/ There, you can find a further tool for patching called Event ID 4226 Patcher: http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=tools Long time ago, I did it with xp-AntiSpy which also creates a backup of the original file.

  10. BSOD stop 50 indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced. Most likely due to the inability to set proper memory allocation since Intel Driver and Intel chipset uses your usual system RAM sticks, it doesn't have its own memory, unlike most dedicated GPUs.

  12. Tired of Windows 11? Want to go back to Windows 10 without having to move files (well, kinda)? Well this tutorial is for you! NOTE: This will involve deleting some partitions and modifying the registry. Back up your files as we will run into some errors. 1. You will need two ISOs: a Windows 10 1507 or 1511 ISO and a Windows 10 20H2+ ISO. You can get these ISOs via Windows ISO Downloader 2. Mount the Windows 10 1507/1511 ISO and copy all of the files into another folder. You must use a Windows 10 1507/1511 ISO, or else this will not work. 3. Mount the Windows 10 20H2+ ISO and go to sources and copy "install.wim". In order to follow the steps on the tutorial, I would recommend using 20H2 or later, as I have not tested any version before, so some might require additional work. However, we are still using the 1507/1511 setup. 4 Right click "setup.exe", then click "Troubleshoot compatibility" 5. Click on "Use recommended settings". This will set the compatibility to Windows 8. 6 Click on "Test program". It will give you a UAC prompt, click Yes. 7. Go through setup normally until reboot. We are tricking the 1507/1511 setup into thinking that this is an upgrade from Windows 8 to 10, but we are actually "upgrading" 11 to 10. 8. Your computer should reboot three times, getting past the getting ready screen. After that, on the next reboot Windows will present you with the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen. This is normal, so let it get to the Windows Recovery screen. 9. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt. We are going to disable WinRE, rebuild the boot files, delete a faulty driver (IntelPMT.sys), and skip OOBE. 10. Type in these commands: cd /d C: rd Recovery /s /q diskpart sel dis 0 lis par sel par 3 (the partition labeled Recovery) del par (override) sel par 1 (your boot partition) assign exit bcdboot C:\Windows /s W: (where your boot partition is) bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot regedit 11. Go to HKLM and click File > Load hive 12. Go to C:\Windows\system32\config and import "SYSTEM". Name the hive something other than "SYSTEM", like "SYS" 13. Go to HKLM\SYS\ControlSet001\Services. Scroll down until you see the key "IntelPMT". Right click and delete the key. 14. We will also bypass OOBE. In that same hive, go to the Setup key, and set both CMD Lines to cmd.exe, and set all values to 0. 15. Now unload your SYSTEM hive. Exit the Registry Editor, then reboot. 16. When you get to your desktop, you will see that your apps transferred, but not your files. Your files should still be there in the Windows 11 folder, located in C:\Windows.old\Users\(your user). Copy all of the files into your folder from your old folder. Most apps will work, but some may need to be reinstalled, such as Bluestacks. 17. You will notice that some apps will not work, like the Personalization shortcut on the right-click desktop menu will not work. This all can be fixed with a repair install of Windows 10 20H2+. To do this, repeat steps 1-7 or use the original 20H2+ ISO. This should fix the errors. You could technically continue downgrading all the way down to 8.1, by downgrading from 20H2+ to 1511 with a similar trick, then 1511 to 8.1 (but downgrading to those OSES are much more complicated).

  13. A few problems I noticed with 3.8 RC: - I've got taskbar auto-hide set up, and most animations in Windows disabled; SaB's new taskbar animates while showing and hiding, in a slightly weird way – the background appears/hides immediately, then the content slides up/down, here's a slowed-down screen capture: (native Windows taskbar would pop up/hide without animations) - The Bat! e-mail client doesn't show in the taskbar (the first pinned icon in the animation above – the program is running, and the window is on primary monitor); additionally, if I exit it, and then start it, Explorer (including taskbar) crashes and restarts Windows 11 23H2 22631.3880

  22. FileFormatConverters.exe is version 12.0.6500.5000, the version number 12.0.6514.5001 is after installation. All names for the same, but compatibilitypacksp3-kb2526297-fullfile-en-us.exe is latest update. I can't remember if it can be used standalone. BTW you can open these packs with 7z if you want to see what's inside.

  23. I obviously should have told about the Chinese telemetry in that Browser, but I was quite busy when I posted, and I can't say it has lots of it, in contrast to the original 360 Extreme Explorer, for example. In any case, you all just've been warned!

  24. Thanks for reporting! I also plan to test Mypal 68.14.3b SSE on my old Athon XP 3200+ computer in the next few days. uBlock Origin 1.46 was the last compatible for FF 68. This version should hopefully still work on an SSE only machine. Higher versions also work in Mypal 68 and even the most recent version 1.58 but I checked them on an SSE2 computer. So, try to install uBlock Origin 1.58 first, and you will easily see whether this most recent version of uBO still works on your SSE only computer. If not, try uBlock Origin 1.46. At least, that's what I would do. Regarding the interface language, there are no official language packs for this browser, at least as far as I know. Only a very few made by some users, however, for older versions of Mypal 68. That means Mypal 68 is available in English only. But you can create an own language pack, of course.

  26. Hej! Bonjour! Greetings from Sweden! I didn't think anyone would dare or care to say anything after my rather unusual introduction. But you proved me wrong. I vaguely remember visiting these forums in the past. Not as a member (not that I have any record of anyway), but as a visitor. So I decided to create an account. After two long decades! What does MSFN stand for? Microsoft Software Forum Network? Manned Space Flight Network? Make Something From Nothing? I would like to read the history of these forums, but I can't find anything on that. Please add a link where I can read all about it. Also, is the forum owned by that Canadian company that sweeps up all the old school web forums where people in the know go to share, discuss and ask questions? Nice day to you too!

  27. I thought I could get away with partially reverting bug 371434 by simply changing nsLayoutUtils::DrawImage(&aRenderingContext, parameter 1, parameter 2, parameter 3) to aRenderingContext.DrawImage(parameter 1, parameter 2, parameter 3). It turns out I needed to fully revert bug 371434 in order to fix the picture rendering problem I have been having. After making the full set of changes to layout/generic/nsImageFrame.cpp (and nsImageFrame.h), pictures now display as intended. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371434

  32. gfx.font_rendering.opentype_svg.enabled - false svg.disabled;false false (sometimes default in many of ort browsers) svg.context-properties.content.enabled;false (sometime default in many of our browsers) svg.new-getBBox.enabled;false false(sometimes default in many of out browsers) Can also play with cache size for svg, but I've found it unnecessary.

  34. And to think I've been disabling SVG for decades now. Have I missed much, I wonder.

  35. Modern web sucks with constant reliance on new bells and whistles. Slightly off-topic, but I encountered another oddity with self-compiled build of Pale Moon on Raspberry Pi 5, enabling subtitles on https://piped.video/ makes the browser get stuck with full CPU core utilization. Then go ahead and try being @roytam1 and roll your own builds.

  36. Oh, so this is where Moonchild crew is going (regarding AVX builds)! https://www.phoronix.com/news/Ubuntu-x86-64-v3-Experiment https://www.phoronix.com/news/RedHat-RHEL10-x86-64-v3-Explore BTW, H.265/HEVC video codec was brought up a while back, the only browser with working implementation that doesn't require GPU support for it I found is Thorium.
