  1. Almost half a year later, I finally tried, unfortunately it introduced stutters to the gaming process.

  2. 475 refused to install on me. How did you do it?

  3. Very interesting, I didn't have any success with 'em. I too bought some, but much smaller ones.

  4. Nvidia security update driver 475 arrived, but didn't bring anything new to the table in terms of comparability with newer games, it's still based on the old batch R470 from several years ago.

  5. I have to correct my statement a bit. Mypal 68.14.2b 32-bit in single-process mode installed with 23 extensions (7 of them disabled), 14 uc.js scripts, 13 css stylesheets and one open tab consumes only round about 180 MB after browser start. So, a bit less than New Moon 28.

  6. Websites which consumes extremely large amounts of RAM are immediately closed by me in New Moon 28 and opened in Mypal 68 or, more recently, also in Thorium. If that doesn't work very well either, it flies to my Android tablet, which can open all pages. This strategy works quite well, at least until now.

  7. I always have Process Hacker running in the background for many, many years. I regularly monitor my browsers in terms of RAM and CPU utilisation by Process Hacker's systray icons as a first measure. New Moon 28 32-bit, well configured and used appropriately, consumes the least RAM compared to other browsers. If I have a few extensions installed and only have one tab open, I am at around 200 MB after starting the browser. I think that's a good value compared to others. What is always problematic, with all browsers, is the release of RAM when tabs are unloaded or even closed. This always leads to additional consumption after prolonged use of the browser, which is actually unnecessary but has unfortunately never been solved by the developers (and by that I mean Mozilla in particular).

  8. On pages like Aliexpress or others you can find very low-cost USB Flash drives and SSD drivers. This is surprising with capacities from 2 to 128 TB compared to the capacities of drives from well-known brands such as Kingston, Sandisk, Crucial, etc. which are between 8GB and 256 GB for USB Flash Drives. It is said in Internet forums that this is impossible, that inside the SSD box there are a couple of large nuts to give weight, that the capacity is not real. I have a friend who assures that the capacity is real. I think that a 16 TB SSD drive is possible, it will depend on the number of cells capable of recording. If we record a Kingston 256 GB SSD several times, this gives a total of several TB. So the manufacturer can increase the capacity by 16 TB allowing it to be recorded only 2 times. With this we already have the same 256 GB unit with 16 TB capacity. This is determined by the cells type it contains: SLC (single level cell) MLC (multilevel cell) TLC (Triple Level Cell) To clear up doubts, I have bought several for a price between 3 and 12 euros, a similar price in dollars. The first suggestive deception is that the units are offered for 1 euro / 1 dollar, but at the time of paying it turns out to be a promotion for a single unit with high shipping costs and the price is the same as what I have reported 3 / 12 € Pay close attention to the basket and when paying, the prices and products paid may not match!!! So far I have received 2 units: -SSD Drive 12 TB https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006997442760.html -USB Flash Drive 16TB https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006845793050.html And I have started to carry out the first tests. However, I have 2 additional problems. 1-Many of the recommended test programs do not recognize the units. 2-Windows XP installs the drivers in Device Manager but does not show any hard drive in Disk Manager, nor partitions, nor hard drive. Other test programs give uneven results, these units could be of real capacity or not, I am still not clear. Performing a capacity test with "H2testw" from Windows Seven, the 12 TB SSD unit is only filled with 8 GiB, however on the USB Flash drive I stopped the test when 634 GiB had been completed. In order to verify the real capacity, I want to copy images from several TB to these drives as a backup of my current disks. But before continuing I want to solve the compatibility problem with Windows XP. Why are these drives not visible in Windows XP Disk Manager? The drives come with a GPT partition table, indicating that the first initial sector alignment is the 4096, with an 4096 bytes physical sector size. To try to solve the problem I have converted the unit to MBR, I have changed the initial sector to 63, 256, 2048... And I have also reduced the partition size to 1 TiB but the result is the same. Why can't Windows XP handle these drives? In the next post I will publish the tests that I carry out. My first suspicion is that both, the USB Flash Drive and the SSD drive, are removable SSD drives. How can I know what cells types they have?

  9. Thanks for asking! As long as no new errors occur and everything is running well, there is no need to update. I'm travelling on so many fronts that my time needs to be well managed. Or is something not working? I can't see any serious problems at the moment. uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.35 is running fine here.

  10. Here it is, at the very top 124 version, but pre-release: https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/releases Except that instead of the x32 version there are debug files.

  11. The same year it started, there was a bold move in a desperate attempt to try to disguise Yandex as a "private company based in Europe", but who would believe that? Source and explanations by Mike Eckel. And there literally are millions of sources that picture what Yandex really is, I'm only giving the one that doesn't include political statements. https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-yandex-government-control/32152249.html

  12. It's not 60's anymore, people have the internet, they can read publicly available sources with clear and simple explanations on the way things done in Russia. Yes, Yandex itself is the problem because it's 100% controlled by the government, unlike, say Yahoo.

  13. Evading the subject, trying to make everyone look equally bad, lumping all in one pile, and then coating with soapy foam to disguise the big mole. Any person with the IQ a little above average will see through. Mind you, it's a very outdated playbook.

  14. My old Windows XP machine has 1.5 GB RAM only. And surfing the web works if you keep it simple. Tons of open tabs are not actually necessary, though. My browsers New Moon 28, Serpent 52, Mypal 68 and even Thorium rarely need more than 500 - 600 MB. Abnormal websites are fodder for my Android tablet. At the moment, I am using New Moon 28 with 74 extensions installed, 4 of them disabled, and only the MSFN website opened by a RAM usage of round about 400 MB.

  15. Probably depends on what you do/expect. Found this writeup a while back: https://dudemanguy.github.io/blog/posts/2022-06-10-wayland-xorg/wayland-xorg.html While I can sort of get by with Linux, I'm just not at home there.

  16. @dmiranda And LinkedIn seems to work in Serpent 52, too. So I don't know what you are actually talking about. And I can't see that the end is "nigh" for many websites in Windows XP.

  17. LinkedIn can be called up fine here in Mypal 68 and New Moon 28. What issues do you refer to?

  18. Important, don't install SSU (KB4493730), even if it will be offered to you automatically. The above update KB4499180 installs just fine on a clean Vista SP2 (any edition).

  20. And we have ZERO interest of reading spammy, off-topic posts like this, here at MSFN.

  21. The World's populace numbers are terrible, agree. "Thanks" to China, Russia, Latin America, Africa and India. I'm in shock how fast they grew in size in the last 30 years, of course if they don't stop to overpopulate the Earth, something terrible will happen to the planet. There's literally no place for animals anymore! In Europe, most of the land is occupied with farms. Thankfully, the locals don't spawn here like rabbits.

  22. I read about it in 1982, they said it would've happened in 1990. And no, I'm not a climate change denier.

  23. All man made objects that use heating or result in heating are the cause of the warming, including the phosphorous blasts you chose to ignore (why?), of course in addition to emissions, there's no argument here. For example, we've got plenty of (don't know how to call them politely) that make floors with heating in our already warm Vichy climate so "their dogs feel cosy".

  24. You aren't being polite in the conversation, you asked for "a SCIENTIFIC APPROACH", I gave you one, now you didn't like the truth, so it looks like you're a simple climate change denier rather than someone who supposed to be neutral.

  25. Read my guide for Xp x64 edition and for Server 2003. My guide for Xp x64 and Server 2003 @AstroSkipper does not have in his guide. The problem is that ProxhttpsProxy v1.5 does not run properly on Xp x64 and Server 2003, so v1.3 must be used!

  26. Windows Update for Xp x64 edition and W2k3 I found a new opportunity. Cr to @whenever by Tuopf https://www.prxbx.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=2172. This version of ProxhttpsProxy creates a Sha1 certificate and is compatible with most Windows versions. With this version of ProxhttpsProxy, it is possible to update Windows Server 2003 (not tested) and Win Xp x64 edition. IE6 is sufficient. download link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ftq6dnsccuq54p4/ProxHTTPSProxyMII_1.3a.zip/file WU-patch: http://www.mediafire.com/file/1ontv0vkh0ghfbi/Restore_WU_XP_2003.7z/file I have already edited the Config.ini so that you can work directly with ProxhttpsProxy. When opening ProxhttpsProxy a new certificate is generated. This certificate must be stored in the local computer's trusted certificate store. Make sure TLS 1.0 and Http 1.1 is enabled via proxy and the Windows Update patch is installed! It works without additional updates! It is also suitable if the CPU does not support SSE2. @AstroSkipper What do you say? Is it a good option?
