  1. Understood, you need to take into account, they also work as resistors, the cheaper (older) the capacitor, the higher the resistance. Capacitors from old boards may only be 85 degrees which leads to high ripples. I recently recapped a monitor, I didn't have caps of 105 degrees, so I took the 85 ones, the monitor behaved oddly after a couple of hours, the brightness was fluctuating until I replaced with the proper 105 degree ones. Reason - high ripples after heating up.

  2. Did you measure their capacitance? New ones doesn't mean good, there's a lot of fakes on the market. I recent;y purchased Samhwa, I was under the impression no one will ever make fakes of such crap. In the end, Samhwa is a terrible brand, They failed within a month.

  3. Thanks for replying! The last official Chrome which supported Windows XP was the version 49.0.2623.112. I think I have a copy of it in my archive. In any case, I will check if the hardware acceleration worked at all in this version on my hardware and report here. I tested Chrome 49.0.2623.112 regarding hardware acceleration. It doesn't offer hardware accelerated 2d-Canvas. All other hardware accelerated features could be switched on. But testing those ancient Chrome versions is not easy as they are much too old to access modern websites. Without ProxHTTPSProxy, no chance anyways. However, this version has a lot of problems due to its old Javascript engine. In any case, I hope there is a chance to improve hardware acceleration in Thorium in such a way that both, 2d-Canvas and rasterization, can be done by GPU on old systems as mine to take more load off the CPU as it is the case, for example, in Mypal 68. @IDA-RE-things I can also provide a log of GPU errors if it is helpful in identifying and possibly fixing issues. However, one thing is clear. Thorium is almost unusable without the Chrome XP API Adapter on old computers like mine, even if the hardware acceleration only works partially.

  4. Puzzles from geo.captcha-delivery.com do neither work in New Moon 28 nor in Serpent 52, but, for example, in Mypal 68.14.2b. You can report it to "upstream", of course in such a way as described by @Mathwiz in this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/185966-my-browser-builds-part-5/?do=findComment&comment=1267837. Personally, I do never visit www.etsy.com. If I had to, I would use a browser which can solve these puzzles like Mypal 68, or I throw such garbage to my Android tablet as usual.

  5. LOL This may explain it. If "lower middle-income", they're accepting DONATED computers from better-off countries.

  6. usagestats is not a flag but a REG_DWORD registry value as far as I can see. It was set to the value of zero on my machine.

  7. You're welcome! On the other hand, Thorium may not understand the standard Chromium flags. Usage Stats is what of the most interest. It needs to have a value of zero.

  8. BTW, I already posted my Thorium registry entries here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/186133-thorium/?do=findComment&comment=1267362

  9. I will check my registry entries when I am back at my desktop computer. Thanks for the heads up!

  10. As far as I know, the codec of AVC1 or H.264 is the same, but the formalities of the file internally have different indicators. One is a raw stream, and the other is not.

  11. Try to load search plugins via the Wayback Machine which offers many copies of the Mycroft Project! Or, you use extensions to add search engines as, for example, the one I already described here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183657-mypal-68-in-windows-xp-custom-buttons-and-extensions/?do=findComment&comment=1254846 And you can add new search engines by clicking the green plus icon in the search bar only if the current website offers to add it, of course.

  12. First, you should fully enable hardware acceleration especially if your hardware is weak. Most corresponding prefs have already been enabled by default but the following ones should be set to the value true in any case: layers.prefer-d3d9, layers.acceleration.force-enabled and media.hardware-video-decoding.force-enabled. To force YouTube using the H.264 format, you can install the extension h264ify which you then have to configure to your needs. Personally, I avoid to play YouTube videos in browsers on my system. It's much too bloated. I prefer to use Invidious if I really want to watch those videos in a browser. Anyway! You can also install some user scripts from Greasy Fork to change YouTube settings in Mypal 68 as, for example, https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/480137-youtube-h-264-fps, or https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/493563-hide-vp9-support-from-youtube-force-30-fps-video by using Tampermonkey. But you have to test each user script as some of them don't work anymore due to the permanent changes by YouTube.

  13. @user57 A little tip from me. Why don't you format your text so that people don't have a crisis when they read it? A text stretched out like this is difficult to read and is actually just annoying. I don't understand your countless blank lines at all. What you actually want to say falls completely by the wayside. Anyway! That was just a friendly hint.

  14. ... Let me remind readers of this thread that the actual issue discussed here has been already reported to UXP-"upstream" (i.e. MCP: Moonchild Productions) by @UCyborg some three weeks ago: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=62&p=251950&sid=14291391b8552d3afe8f153cf401c56c#p251950 but. as you can probably see for yourselves , nothing has even budged there so far ...

  18. Important, don't install SSU (KB4493730), even if it will be offered to you automatically. The above update KB4499180 installs just fine on a clean Vista SP2 (any edition).

  19. Go with Vista, then, like you wrote in the beginning. No one these days will specifically target Vista. Install May 14, 2019—KB4499180 (Security-only update) (6003 build) it includes the most important security breach fixes and the ability to use the extended kernel, if you ever wish to try it. Install nothing else since all is already included in that pack! https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/may-14-2019-kb4499180-security-only-update-081acd25-afa4-fb15-2dc1-fefcece4325a

  21. I thought it was before the flags got applied, because those surely look like the telemetry (stats) is in full swing.

  22. You're welcome, FranceBB! It would be a bit naive to think Microsoft will publicly share a programme that switches off all logging that easily. For me, after I ran the programme, the two pesky ones was there. Namely, SCM and ETW. But it's on Vista. I had to dig them up manually. WUDFTrace is related to logging up drivers' activities. It's not in "security" group. It doesn't run on Vista by default. Did you debug drivers, by any chance? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/wdf/debugging-umdf-2-0-drivers

  24. BTW, they suggest to fully disable sandbox, which is a terrible idea, too!

  25. Yeah, but it's not my idea, I actually wanted to further elaborate on what you wrote about Chrome 49! With a simple calculation, if they already knew it was blocked on XP almost 12 years ago, it brings us back to 2012 - early 2013. What was the Chrome version, then? 21? 20? 19? 18? So, it was blocked centuries ago! Overall, I agree with you, not a good idea at all.

  26. Hi, first I suggest to obtain Win7 without SP1, only RTM or OEM release. Second, go start/administrative tools/services, disable windows update.
