  1. @VistaLover Can you please test the two YouTube videos from the quoted post above in terms of embedded ads under my new release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 in New Moon or Serpent but with only the preselected, default filter lists and the region-specific one enabled? I don't see any ads in either of them but @nicolaasjan does. Thanks in advance!

  2. Have you enabled the region and language-specific filter list NLD: Easylist Dutch? I always enable the filter list DEU: Easylist Germany. Yep! Good idea! Maybe, there are users of @roytam1's browser editions willing to test the two YouTube videos in terms of embedded ads under my new release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 in New Moon or Serpent. I personally will ask here.

  3. Happy New Year! While the post containing that link has had already 4 (!) reactions, I find it impossible to download the installer from the SoftPedia link ; any attempt will produce a "404: Not Found" server response ... Before you start a "wild goose chase" , I can tell you my internet connection is fine, also tried in several browsers beyond my default, Serpent 52... SoftPedia aren't hosting the installer themselves, instead they try to fetch it from the original vendor URL: ... which now just 404s ... I did my own search and the latest version of IP Hider Pro was v6.1.0.1 from, as you said, early 2017; additionally, it appears that the "iphiderpro.com" domain is now up for sale... Elsewhere I found a self-hosted installer of IP Hider Pro v5.8.0.1 (from Sep 2016), but I'm very reluctant to even launch it now - I very much doubt the original vendor/company is still a "thing", let alone that their Proxy Servers are still ON... Has anyone here actually tried this application and found it to be still working (in trial mode)? Kindest regards.

  6. I don't see any ads in either of them. And both videos are tested by me with default lists in New Moon 28, too. As far as I can see, my fixed release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 works fine here. But we need further tests and results from other users for confirmation purpose. As for PEBCAK, I wouldn't say you are a problem.

  7. Windows 7 extended kernel simply won't load any Nvidia drivers after the summer of 2021 (Release batch R470), just like the usual Windows 7, I guess the support wasn't added either.

  11. Just to make sure it's not linked to the V3, simply add this command line startup flag. --enable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Availability No quotes, commas, spaces, exclamation marks, mysterious signs or ancient runes needed. Space needed only if you have more than one flags. (between the flags)

  12. For that to happen it may be wise to ask in the My Browser Builds thread? Btw, I also tested this in New Moon 28. [Edit] Same in Pale Moon on Linux. Thank you!

  13. Thanks! The filter lists seem to behave well, but I still get YouTube ads... (not happening with the old uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2) Also "AdGuard URL Tracking Protection" with its $removeparam syntax is useless for uBO Legacy (recognizes only 3, while there are 1382 a.t.m). [Edit] Maybe you could add "uBlock filters -- Legacy" as well. It still gets an occasional update. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/master/filters/legacy.txt

  19. A very wise decision, in my opinion. Supermium is easily distinguishable from other Chromium-based browsers, by the fact that it has some old features from old versions of Chrome/Chromium, and its author (@win32) is planning to support this browser all the way down to Windows 2000 SP4 in the future. (a bit off-topic, since this topic targets Windows XP)

  20. Yes, with a new install of uBO NLD: Easylist Dutch is automatically activated (but that shouldn't have an impact on YouTube).

  21. Well, both in the Led Zeppelin video and in the special Ad Blocker Test Video. Screenshot of the second ad in the latter (Phantasialand ad): If you don't see ads in either of them, then it must be PEBCAK here. Though both videos are tested with default lists.

  22. @wuliyen Oh, right I was thinking about WinSxS folder, but you showed WindowsApps. It does work here and keeps all 5 folders. Maybe it's Windows setup that removes them depending on the "scale factor" of the newly installed Windows. @dimo70 You need to use GPT format for UEFI boot only and select the FAT32 ESP partition as boot drive.

  23. Can you please provide the YouTube link and a screenshot of the ads (maybe, you can outline all ads in red) you see by using uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 which is on the other hand successfully blocked by uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2? This would be very helpful for reproducing here. I personally had problems to find ads in your last provided YouTube link.

  24. Thanks! I still would like to know why 1.16.4.31b2 is successfully blocking YouTube ads and 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 is not, even with Legacy filters added to Custom. I tried in clean profiles, with only Quick fixes added to the former.

  25. Thanks for your detailed feedback! The original idea for creating this build was to provide all filter lists from the webextension uBlock Origin in the extension uBlock Origin Legacy. That there are filter lists which are no longer fully compatible was expected. I just wanted to correct the version uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0. Any list which is not compatible shouldn't be enabled or should be disabled if not working properly. My next release will be an update version and mod of uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2 itself with all filter lists that have already been their plus the list "uBlock filters – Quick fixes". In general, it is no problem to implement any filter lists into the code or to remove them from the code.

  31. Before releasing this new version, I have corrected my latest release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 from this post: Now, it is fully working. No problems any longer when updating the filter lists. The new filter list "filters-2024.txt" is now inside the xpi file and can be retrieved correctly. Inside the xpi file, all filter lists have been replaced by the most recent ones to be more recent after installing without immediate updating. Additionally, I lowered the minVersion for Pale Moon from 28.0 to 27.0 to also install it in New Moon 27 which, for example, @roytam1 seems to use. Please re-download this corrected release from the linked post above especially if you already downloaded the old one! Please, test this special version and report here! Any feedback is of course welcome! Cheers, AstroSkipper

  38. For those willing to try Arkenfox, check https://arkenfox.github.io/gui/ . Make sure to click "expand" on the top row, and use reading lenses. It displays options available for ff119, but most of them work in FF68. To make sure what the differences are, find and check (in arkenfox github's page) the user.js corresponding to ff68. Most of the tweaks in the later do work, in fact, in sp52 too.

  39. @Milkinis @XPerceniol and those who never used OpenVPN under Windows XP! OpenVPN is one of different VPN protocols. The OpenVPN 2.5.4 executable is a VPN client programme to connect to special VPN servers. There are many VPN service providers. Only a few offer servers free of charge, most of them offer servers which have to be paid for. The user has to download special OpenVPN configuration files from these VPN service providers which have to be loaded by an OpenVPN client programme such as OpenVPN 2.5.4. These config files can additionally be edited to match the user's needs if you are familiar with the OpenVPN protocol and the used syntax which in turn depends on the installed OpenVPN version. And here is a link to many different documents about OpenVPN: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn And (actually) just for testing purposes, here is a service called VPNBook which offers free VPN servers: https://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn In addition, here is a short guide how to setup OpenVPN to use VPNBook under Windows XP: https://www.vpnbook.com/howto/setup-openvpn-on-windowsxp Cheers, AstroSkipper

  40. The topic clearly asks for each of our OPINIONS. If you want to be truly HONEST, then those OPINIONS have clearly concluded that the FEARS are EXAGGERATED. Being of the opposite OPINION than most have stated in this thread but "shouting the loudest" is not going to sway OTHER folks' OPINIONS. In my OPINION, these WebP "fears" are like being afraid of being struck by lightning so we "never go outside" because of our "paranoia" of being hit by lightning.. Despite - the odds of being struck by lightning is less than one in a million 90% of all lightning strike victims SURVIVE about one third of lightning injuries occur INDOORS MALES are four times more likely than FEMALES to be struck by lightning source: https://www.cdc.gov/disasters/lightning/victimdata.html

  44. Bk52 (the browser, as test application) was initially built by upstream on top of a fork of the Mozilla ESR 52.6.0 platform code; the derived platform is named UXP. Since then, both the original official Basilisk 52.9.x upstream project as well as roytam1's Serpent 52.9.0 fork have significantly diverged from that starting point, but have also diverged significantly between each other, too... IMHO, stating that Serpent 52 is "based on FF52 code" is no longer descriptive of the current situation... Bk55 (the browser, as test application) was initially built by upstream (Moonchild Productions) on top of a forked Mozilla Nightly 53.0a1 snapshot platform code, with very few 54.x and 55.x code elements merged in; the platform that was produced was named Moebius; the app (browser) built on top of it was named Basilisk and was given an app version of 55.x.x, for (if you ask me) sensationalistic reasons ; much of the initial Moebius code, hence, can be described as a pre-53 Firefox snapshot... Serpent 55 by roytam1 was forked off Bk55/Moebius; that upstream project was abandoned in favour of UXP (and Bk52/UXP); since then, St55 is being infrequently maintained as a code melting pot, merging bits of various other upstream projects (e.g. UXP, tenfourfox, Mozilla and even code from IceWeasel 53.x). TL;DR: Current Serpent 55.0.0 has extremely limited affiliation, codewise, with stable Firefox 55.0
