  1. He wrote "just noticed that no new registration is available here now". Thank you for the attempt to explain, I still find strange why would he be looking at the registration page, I didn't even look at that page myself since I got my account several years ago.

  2. Not sure I understand, could you please elaborate, you already have an account, but still want to register another fake one? I think it's forbidden, sorry in advance, if I misunderstood.

  3. actually it is not my discovery, but a NM28 chinese language pack user who has no msfn account while I told him to ask question about updating NM language pack here. later he told me that he can't register a new account here by email.

  7. You will need to elaborate. Everything seems to be working perfectly fine for that link here.

  8. Complete or incomplete, it doesn't distort what you said. You've never used Kaspersky yourself, you stay on the safe side, you won't use it, hence you have no moral obligation to do it, yet you obsessively promote it on MSFN. The insane intensity and the style clearly point out to the commercial roots of your promotions.

  12. TBH, not really. The easiest and best method is to use, for example, @heinoganda's Certificate Updater or my most recent offline updater. You can get it here in the section 11.2.4. Downloads related to Root Certificate Updates. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  13. TBH, it was a long time ago when I corrected this issue. It may well be that I had also corrected entries in the colors.dtd file at that time. And the issue is related to the Colors dialogue, of course. But I definitely know (I had briefly checked before replying) that I added for example the entities I already mentioned in the content.dtd file. But maybe that wasn't the cause of the Colors problem, but of a previous problem. I compare and correct, but I don't document every single step. In any case, the most important thing is that all errors are found, and the language pack works again. And now, you at least know where to look. Anyway! I'm glad you were able to correct the Dutch language pack.

  16. @nicolaasjan BTW, you are welcome to post your corrected Dutch language pack in my thread Extensions and custom buttons for UXP browsers - Corrections, modifications, adjustments, and special recommendations. Then, I would list it in the second post of my thread, as I already did for my German language packs, so that users can find it much more easily. Only if you want, of course.

  17. Under browser\chrome\de\locale\browser\preferences\, for example, new entities were added to the file content.dtd starting from line 33 jsOptions.label, jsOptionsWasm.label, jsOptionsWasm.accesskey. The best is to compare this file with the original English one, and you will see all the entities to be added, removed or changed.

  19. @NotHereToPlayGames I have tried once or twice to PM you but it doesn’t seem to be possible. Anyway, thanks for actually trying Kaspersky 18 on XP x86 during my recent absence from the forum! You were quite right about one thing: For too long the debate was dominated by people who never even used Kaspersky (including me and the OP of this topic). Also thanks to @UCyborg for testing Kaspersky 18 on XP x64 and confirming that it works, and to the anonymous member who already told me that beforehand. 🙂 I won’t be posting in the Astro-Blog anymore, which should not only be locked but deleted entirely because it is hopelessly biased politically (not to mention boring). Since that was the last topic at MSFN of any interest to me, I will become very scarce unless someone asks an interesting question, which rarely happens at this forum anymore. Bye!

  20. Hello, anyone has any clue why http://www.rw-designer.com/ doesn't load in Serpent 52.9 and Serpent 55 (and also K-Meleon)? It is another website I visit to get custom cursors (aside from GitHub and that heavy DeviantArt). The website gives a timeout when I attempt to load it. It loads fine in 360Chrome 13.5. Thanks!

  27. Very funny! But all joking aside, here is the corrected version: There is no jury here. And therefore there is no verdict. You can only get information here. And since you're the only one who asked, I can only answer you first. Here is a hint once again: I used Sygate Personal Firewall under Windows ME and for a while under Windows XP. It was my favourite firewall for a long time in the old days. It is still installed in my Windows ME partition which I never deleted for historical reasons. I used the German version Sygate Personal Firewall Platinum 5.5.2307.0 from 2004. Later, I changed to the English version Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5.6.3408.0 from 2005. Due to some reasons, I stopped using it under Windows XP. Sygate Personal Firewall could not recognise certain processes that wanted to connect to the Internet via other processes, such as web filtering processes. There were no more updates, and the problems could accordingly no longer be fixed. In addition, there were no more definition updates. So I switched to more modern firewalls with a heavy heart. Presumably, due to Sygate's age, IPv6 support is also missing. In a nutshell, Sygate Personal Firewall is too old (abandoned 2005), it is therefore not on my list, and I won't write an article about it, unfortunately. It is still a good firewall for Windows ME (or Windows 98), but IMHO definitely no longer an option for Windows XP.

  28. Thanks for your reply, @Tangy! You talk about your personal, subjective experiences, but you haven't written what they are. So what are your own experiences when using SUPERAntiSpyware? And of course, I don't mean what others have written. The thread in Wilders Security Forums is relatively meaningless. A few negative, a few positive, all rather lacking in content and the last pages, which are somewhat more recent, only contain update information. Everything before that is outdated and irrelevant. Unfortunately, this is not a quotable source, but rather for the bin. As you said, it is a video in Portuguese. There are no English or German subtitles. Only an automatic translation which is awful. And what is tested there is nothing official and unfortunately total nonsense. If you had done a little more research, you would have noticed that SUPERAntiSpyware is not a complete antivirus programme and should only be used in addition. So what is tested in the video is obviously nonsense and can only lead to disaster. Unfortunately, this kind of video is dubious and should be taken with a grain of salt. Apart from that, this is an English speaking forum. Please post videos in English only! I do not post videos in German here, either. Nevertheless, thanks for your good will! You're welcome! Glad to hear you like my thread. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  29. @feodor2 You mentioned the breakage of the old Firefox 68.12.esr language packs. Did you change a lot of entities in the en-US locales of your new pre-release? Or are there other reasons for the breakage? I had a quick look into them but before comparing to the old ones I thought it would be a good idea to ask the developer directly.

  31. I also used to use Autoruns 13.98 as my main start-up manager. Nowadays, I only use it to get an overview of all entries of programs, services and drivers that are started when booting, and to delete obsolete remnants. If someone is still interested in StartupCPL, here is a link to its no longer existing homepage using the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20131106030702/http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml The download from there was tested by me and works.

  32. Anyway! I think it's great that a few startup managers exist for Windows XP that allow the user to delay the start of certain programs during the boot process. However, it should also be mentioned at this point that not every program can be started with a delay. However, such problems can sometimes be solved by modifying the autostart entry. You just have to try it out as is so often the case.

  33. Off-topic: PDF24 Creator is a PDF suite. I use it mainly as a replacement for a printer. All print jobs are printed in PDF documents in my Windows XP system. And for this, PDF24 needs its own service in Windows. Therefore, a portable version would not make any sense. The program and its service have to be integrated deeply into the system just like a printer driver. As you may have noticed, most newer printers have not supported Windows XP for a long time. That's the reason for a missing, real printer.
    1 point
  34. Maybe off-top, so sorry in advance ! I'm just curious why would a PDF programme need a special service to run ? Is it related to its copy protection ? Is there a portable version ? Legal portable.
    1 point
  35. It was not yet implemented in XP. Only with Vista. With XP one would need a special programme, like the famous German Ashampoo. Here's the link to the free 2.0, I have no XP to test in on, but from what I remember, version 1.0 worked good. https://ashampoo-startup-tuner.software.informer.com/2.0/

  36. Yes, Swedish VPN worked, sorry, no German at the moment. What about the well-known German Ashampoo then ? If my memory serves me well, it also had an XP startup manager. no ? That being said, I had XP only for a very short amount of time.

  37. First of all, a clarification! As mentioned earlier, in Windows XP, programs and services cannot be started with a delay natively. There are, however, some autostart managers that are able to start programs with a delay. Services can generally not be started delayed with these programs due to restrictions under Windows XP. However, you can write your own batch file that can also start services with a delay, which I have already done in the past. Autostart managers that offer such a feature for delayed start of programs write themselves or a separate program into the Autorun location of Windows and take over the start process of the respective program(s) that is (are) to be started with a delay. Such a program is Quick Startup from Glarysoft. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  38. Thanks for the tip! New ideas are welcome at any time. TBH, I will only debug the corresponding services if it is unavoidable. First I need further confirmation whether my described problem has something to do with the POSReady updates or not. My system works perfectly in general except the problem with Glarysoft's Startup Manager.

  40. No need to prove anything, the evidence, my message is still in the outbox. Full instructions, incuding the precise patching method and all flags/API were sent to that polish account. I create content for MSFN, if someone uses it, at least don't call it yours and write you took it from MSFN/D.Draker. Starting "your" projects that simply based on someone else's work, not even mentioing him, it's just very low. Don't worry, I'm not gonna ban you, I wrote , I'll just ignore and see.

  41. Oh wow ! Does @Dave-H know you don't give a damn about the forum rules (respect and whatnot) ? You know what, like I promised @Tommy , I don't engage and ignore the ones like you. I can't prove you made another fake account (and not going to) . You aren't worth my time, on the other hand, I still think some sort of punishment needs to be applied for stealing. You "know more than me" ? LOL. In that case - I'll just make it very simple, I shall not share any of my knowledge with either of ya in the future , and we'll see how far the both talented developers from Poland go with "their" versions.

  44. 1 - Any information to back this up ? 2 - This pacify tactics had failed in the past and will fail now. Who's Russia to dictate us or any other country what to do ? It needs to know it's place (gas-station-country). 3 - Scaremongering . Let's begin with removing of the US citizenship for his daughter . Just search for Lavrov's daughter and you will see Lavrov’s daughter does not even speak Russian. BTW , Lavrov is not even his real name . He chose this surname due to it's "glorious" sounding (means laurels in English) and to be closer to the russian folks in general by wearing a russian surname. His real surname was Chechen (?) or Middle-eastern, smth like that , can gurgle yourself. So this clown does not scare me and shouldn't scare you , please calm down . This "laurel guy" represents the whole country . I mean , the whole country is a total joke-fake . They are just an empty space without us . Their war tech are copies of the German WW2 ones and made from Chinese parts. Look at their oligarchs and their children . Why they don't live and study in Moscow or Ryzan ? If they "love" Russia so much , let them live there and seal the borders ! I'd vote for a requirement for every russian who wants to live in the West , every RU citizen must not love Russia to get a visa and cut all ties with it completely. Otherwise it's just an enemy among us and most propably a sleeper (or active) KGB agent . The problem is our greedy businessmen that took their money . But that is starting to change , you'll see. So please calm down , our nerve cells are priceless and be well. As for your self-made cages , just dig a deep shelter in your garden and place your items in a wooden box with several rounds of copper foil around it and ground with a piece of a big wire (1-2mm thickness) connected to a big metallic object (a piece of railway track , old metallic bath tub would do fine) which you would also have to hide under a thick layer of soil. This will prevent electrostatic discharges that came off of the blast. I see they forgot to mention it ! Your Titan (black ? Sorry , I forgot) will survive. Would be good to remove the thermal pads and the paste and store the cooler apart (!) from the main board. The main board should be wrapped in aluminum foil , but don't scratch the chip !!! Place something soft on it. Regards.

  45. Yes, agree , something's really fishy about all of this. Mark my words , Ukraine is not the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is to strike the Western countries . I do respect the will of Ukrainians to fight for freedom , I'm terribly sorry for their children and cities ! Yet I still don't trust them. Did you notice how desperately they want to join the EU ? Shall we be accepting yet another KGB nest ? I mean , look at Prague , it's a well known KGB nest ! Now look at SBU (Ukrainian analogue of FSB) . It was created from the ashes of the soviet KGB . Also , notice they are quite kind to the captured russians. I'd say strangely kind. Now look, Russia already got Belarus under full control as a puppet state . What we are seeing now is an attempt to re-create the USSR and strike the West this all of it's power ! Russia alone would be too weak to do that without the nukes . They play their card , for sure ! I wouldn't be surprised if they had some sort of secret talks to push this ex(?) communist country to us as a "poor child of freedom" so the KGB spies would obtain no visa pass to freely roam the West . Now we could guess , is it only Russia behind this or China also ? And a couple of examples from recent history . Ukrainians and all soviet citizens in their military got zero problems invading Afghanistan in 1979 and bomb the hell out them , like they did in Finland in 1939 , etc. They still speak their bloody (russian) language ! Why would they ?!?! It's like more than 32 years since no one forces them to learn it at schools ! Yet I still hear all young Ukrainans speak it freely in the videos . Why ? EXCLAIMER: This is not an anti-Ukrainian statement . I demand the war stops immediately and the russians pay for all of the damages done . I respect Ukraine's independence , of course . Yet I don't want to see that country in the EU and NATO . I shall vote against it , like I did in the past. I , as a Dutch tax-payer, can only send them help . That's it. IMPORTANT: All of the weapons we send there can and will be just easy trophies for the reds and used against us later ! Don't forget they got zero tech of their own . So they will surely steal our western tech , like they always do.
