Of course it does if you just copy pasted it without telling it to apply only to WWW, not browser chrome, like: @-moz-document url-prefix("http://"), url-prefix("https://") { *, *:before, *:after { animation-delay: 0ms !important; animation-duration: 0.01ms !important; animation-iteration-count: 1 !important; transition-delay: 0ms !important; transition-duration: 0.01ms !important; /*transition: none !important;*/ } } Edit: This should still be safer than the new prefs, eg. if you open the login form on MSFN, it doesn't hide when you click something else to hide it.2 points

New build of post-deprecated Serpent/moebius for XP! * Notice: This repo will not be built on regular schedule, and changes are experimental as usual. ** Current moebius patch level should be on par with 52.9, but some security patches can not be applied/ported due to source milestone differences between versions. Windows 10 v1511 had reached its end of servicing life on October 10, 2017, it means no updates, ever, which is good! On the other hand - the most possible chrome's next victim, closest dumpster candidate, which means time wasted on modding it. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/announcements/windows-10-1511-end-of-servicing2 points

On the other hand, if it can break the browser GUI, who can say there isn't a web site out there that doesn't break because of it?1 point

Yeah, it would have to be re-written since the directives are located in a specific external stylesheet, that script only works if the CSS code is located in the first style element in the HTML document. They'll have to add support for revert. According to the compatibility table, it was implemented in Safari first in 2016. It's indeed in that version's changelog. Maybe the rest of MSFNers will be delighted by such news. At least I find it refreshing. Mozilla only did it in 2019, followed by Google in 2020. Also means whooping 7 years passed since it was implemented in any browser first.1 point

To be absolutely fair, now that I think about it, it might be that someone installed it as English UK rather than English US by mistake. I'll check on Monday to see which one it is and I'll try again.1 point

I'm sorry, I don't know what that is. If it's some Western. I'm not fond of them, so no wonder I'm not familiar. Do you still have the delay issue with chrome?1 point

@WSC4 These tests should be taken with extreme caution. There were positive tests, but also negative ones. For me, Panda Antivirus Free ran very well and did its job without any problems a few months ago. I would reinstall it again immediately if Malwarebytes one day no longer provided virus definitions under Windows XP. BTW, the main reason for using Malwarebytes is that I own a lifetime licence. And one thing should not be forgotten. Under Windows XP, you can't be as picky as under new operating systems that are supported by all manufacturers. Here are a few more tests and reviews for you to read: https://www.experte.com/antivirus/panda https://www.lifewire.com/panda-free-antivirus-review-1356582 https://www.av-comparatives.org/vendors/panda/ https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/manufacturer/panda-security/ Greetings, AstroSkipper1 point

I know. I tested Panda Antivirus Free months ago and used it a longer time. It worked great in my system. Windows XP Professional SP3 32 Bit is simply great. @George King As I don't use Windows XP 64 bit, it would be great if you can do additionally some tests under this OS. Maybe, a fully updated Windows XP 64 bit is necessary to get Panda Antivirus Free installed. I performed a deeper research via Google and found a lot of similar reports about .NET Framework 4 problems under different OSes when installing Panda Antivirus Free. In Windows 7, for example, a system patch seems to be necessary if the .NET Framework 4 error occurs. Anyway! One thing is totally clear. Any form of help in testing is very welcome and much appreciated. Greetings, AstroSkipper1 point

I don't see it that way. Modding shouldn't be regarded as "time wasted" simply because what is modded today will need performed again 2 or 3 years down the road. Today's Linux is nothing more than modified open-source "mods" of yesterday's Linux. Backporting Opera not intended to run on Vista or 7 and getting it to work on Vista or 7 should never be thought of as "time wasted". An "extended kernel" is nothing more than an evolving set of "mods". Nowhere near "time wasted". Tweaking and modding and optimizing an OS should be regarded as learning experiences, technological evolution, the computer equivalent of hiking a trail in a rain forest opposed to walking a treadmill at the gym. Extending a kernel is never "time wasted". I guarantee you that folks that "extend" kernels were tweaking and optimizing Win98 long before they were "backporting" Win10 functions to Vista, for example. I'm only "just now" migrating some (not all!) of my XP systems to Win 10. I guarantee you that the XP install I was using yesterday is not the same as the XP install I was using 20 years ago. And the learning experiences of tweaking and optimizing XP over the years only assists is tweaking and optimizing 10. Doesn't the gaming community tweak and mod in the spirit of competitive advantage? Should we view that as "time wasted"? (I cite that one as a bit of a pun).1 point

@WSC4 Did you read my first, introducing post of this thread? Here is a short quotation: In my Alphabetical list of working antimalware, firewall, and other security programmes for Windows XP, I will list only those programmes which were reviewed by me in the form of an article with all necessary information. I keep an internal list of 77 security programmes and services (as of 15.09.2023). I already reviewed 24 of them. So, there is still a lot to do. And of course, AVG is on this list, too. I will write an article about it soon. And I'll do that although I don't like AVG due to bad experiences I made in the past. But, as I already said, this project is very extensive and involves a lot of work. And, it's not my only project here on MSFN. I am very experienced in writing articles, and that's no problem, either. But, the most time-consuming actions are thorough researching, testing, and sometimes, fixing problems as in the case of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.75.0.1300. Therefore, my official list will only fill up slowly. And that means, any form of help is very welcome and much appreciated. Kind regards, AstroSkipper1 point

I was under the opinion MSFN is a nice place. Sad you don't share this opinion.1 point

Asrock 775i65G seems nicer, though I's search for a mobo that supports FSB1333.1 point

webp CVE is scary, ported changes of https://github.com/webmproject/libwebp/compare/7ba44f80f3b94fc0138db159afea770ef06532a0...95ea5226c870449522240ccff26f0b006037c520 will be in NM27/mozilla45esr/SP55/UXP in next build. (libwebp in NM26 is too old to get changes ported so no clue for it)1 point

Update notification! My fork Check My IP Address & Location has been updated from the version 1.2 to 1.3. I added four further time intervals for checking IP changes: 1 Sec, 5 Sec, 10 Sec and 30 Sec. Here is a screenshot: And here is the download link for Check My IP Address & Location 1.3: https://www.mediafire.com/file/xvmk2ntk0f4i2e7/Check_My_IP_Address_%26_Location-1.3-pm.xpi/file All about Check My IP Address & Location can be found on its homepage: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/?do=findComment&comment=1250308 Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Hello @VistaLover (and of course all others interested in extensions for our beloved UXP browsers)! In the next post, I provide an update for my fork Check My IP Address & Location. I added four further time intervals, all less than 1 min. If you are still using my extension, then you should update to the new version and use the 1 sec interval for checking IP changes. If you use this interval, the detection of an IP change takes place without any significant delay (at most 5 seconds for VPN connections, almost no delay for direct connections).1 point

Good to know! But for how long? From what I observe, the development (of adding bloat) is at the speed of light lately. Opera added AI since 101, and so on.1 point

I already predicted it would have happened (link), I'm not surprised, even though folks wrote their chrome still worked on the old Win 10 at that time. So looks like now 1809 is the new bare minimum, link. And like I said before. the whole memory function would have to be replaced to be able to run on such old versions, link. This would explain the delays with the Chinese forks of Chrome for Win 7. Each new release will be harder and harder to port, so build from scratch is the only method left. As you all see, I could be the new clairvoyant, in addition to @D.Draker, I think I don't even have to mention, @jaclaz's half-functional (maintenance mode?) crystal ball is already mine.1 point

Dave, what happens, if you visit "com", not "co.uk", because I noticed that user gave his link to com version of the site. Thanks.1 point

How would you then explain that Dave uses the default UA? Everything works for him.1 point

I always thought @Dave-H is a musician. Looks more like the infamous "just a moment" cloudfare protection fingerprinting. https://community.cloudflare.com/t/checking-your-browser-before-accessing-on-loop/281082/13 https://www.reddit.com/r/CloudFlare/comments/103vsgx/need_help_with_browser_check_loop/1 point

Please calm down, I only wrote that I liked that colour. Would it a bother if ask, I read you tried chinese catsxp browser, could you tell me, if there's a similar extension for 360, where it would show a similar open/save dialog, like in catsxp (when you save a jpeg file, for example). I just thought it might be, cause they're similar, thanks.1 point

On this screenshot XP skin looks like it needs to be, soft pastel colours. Neutral. not distracting. Is this the skin you're going to port?1 point

Here is the future of Chromium on Windows 7: https://github.com/win32ss/supermium I have been closely tracking the many changes made to Chromium since November 2022, made with the intent of dropping support for Windows 7 and 8.x. As of version 111, it became very difficult to keep the newest versions running on Vista with the extended kernel; shared memory allocation changes made it impossible to do so as subtle changes to the API (which were done in kernel mode) prevented stable operation of the browsers. So I decided to build my own Chromium. I discovered that a further change was made to the shared memory allocation which broke it even further; the successor to mojo, IPCZ, was forced on by default. It only works properly with Windows 8.1+'s shared memory API. I disabled IPCZ for pre-8.1 and this made the sandbox work again on Vista and 7. Perhaps I will see exactly why IPCZ is broken (from the Windows API level) and try to fix it for the next release. The only win32 API link I can find is CreateFileMappingW, which I need to test with an IPCZ-enabled build on both 8 and 8.1 to see what makes it fail.1 point

To all real (no VM) Windows XP SP3 (32 Bit) Professional POSReady users! Is anyone else here in the forum who can or can't confirm this issue described in the quoted posts? I am still interested in a confirmation in terms of the issue described in the quoted posts above to decide whether it is POSReady related or not. This request is addressed to all members using a real (no VM) Windows XP SP3 (32 Bit) Professional, fully updated including all POSReady Updates. Or am I the only real XP (32 Bit) user here? Thanks in advance! Greetings, AstroSkipper Apparently, I am really the only real Windows XP user, or no one is willing to do a 5 minute test as described above. TBH, both options are a bit tragical, unfortunately.1 point

Linguistically a little curious, but if the function "define" is simply not defined, it still makes sense.1 point

Thank you! So far all is good. All my four IDE hard disk in my Windows XP computer are in an excellent condition. And I have two Dawicontrol SATA PCI cards on reserve. But I hope I do not have to use them. I think I would even rather change the motherboard.1 point

OT: My first computers were an Atari 800 XL with 64 KB RAM from 1984 and an Atari 1040 ST with 1 MB RAM (upgraded to unbeliebable 4 MB) from 1986. One year later, 1987, I bought an external Quantum HDD for my Atari 1040 ST. This HDD is now an unbelievable 36 years old and still working. And both Atari computers, too. A Quantum hard disk was something like a Mercedes at that time and of the very best quality. I am quite sure that you won't get any HDDs in these days which last such a long time. And I should mention that this Quantum HDD never got any data refreshing in all the 36 years. It seems that hard disks of such quality probably don't need that either.1 point

I'm new here. I'm yet to make friends. Looking at the profile of the mentioned member, I'd say he would call your approach unscientific. More likely, highly likely. Did you try to replace them with just empty files ? I don't have this browser, but could you look with Dependency walker ? Look if it has them in the import directory, I highly doubt that.1 point

Hello @UCyborg! After using the method of rebasing the chrome.dll for a while, I have to thank you once again for sharing this method and providing a link to the tool libase. From now on, I am able to make sense of the 360Chrome browsers in my system and especially the version 360Chrome v13.5 build 1030. Kindest regards, AstroSkipper1 point

You tore it out of context,it was another reply to another user *who wrote "we had" in his original post*, so I answered in the same idiotic manner, using the crappy "we" to make the emphasis on how crappy it sounds. Which again, proves what I said earlier, because you didn't even notice that emphasis and proceeded as usual. But hey, then again, it's what communists usually do, they just tear out of context to accuse. Oh, and thanks for being honest, at least you didn't deny that you stick your nose into someone else's business. What's my problem with you ? I'm an MSFN defender, you see , the other ones are just too soft on the ones like you. So I'm here to defend MSFN from all types of attacks one could ever imagine, including yours. We aren't in ChinoRussia, we don't need to earn or fight for likes for food, lol. We just so don't care. Leave us alone, they gave you a very polite hint in the beginning of the topic.1 point

Hello all , I have a question regarding Nvidia drivers . To be brief : I have GTX780 which has 100% support in Vista, however I can't get DTS HD MA passthrough to my receiver , the reciever also supports DTS HD MA . No matter what I do (tried all drivers, etc) , only ordinary DTS and DD5.1 are available through Vista. If I install W7 (not changing any hardware) - the problem is gone ! Of course I'm not going to use W7 , obvioulsy . I've tried to install Vista SP2 on my friend's similar hardware - the result is the same. If it's not enough info , I will gladly explain in details. Perhaps someone had already been that road . Thank you .1 point

Hello , I've been observing this topic for quite some time. First of all , I really admire your work , it's fantastic ! Some may not believe , but I'm still running UNpatched Vista x64 SP2 and haven't had any issues. The only update I have is DX11 for gaming. And yes , there's still a good number of Vista users. May I ask, if you have the modded files for virgin SP2 . I just wanted to try to launch some games that require missing APIs. Perhaps if someone will kindly give me the patched ISO , I'll also try to test , but for now the vanilla SP2 files are enough for me. Thank you !! P.S. Wanted to ask/suggest . Any plans to make something like zernel35 , like they did for XP ? Messing with system files isn't for everyone (I guess). I've managed to launch some unsupported programmes just by adding/hooking new DLL's in their folders, sadly I lack advanced programming skills , like you. About Haswell , there are no errors if running x86 , none at all !1 point
