Enjoy: https://msfn.org/board/topic/185023-future-of-chromium-on-older-windows-10-versions-and-rtm/4 points

As most of you already know, chrome dropped support for RTM 1507, and possibly others (needs to be tested), despite the official statements, "To use Chrome browser on Windows, you'll need: Windows 10 ". They may edit any time, so make copies. The lies is well within their usual behaviour. The discovery was made by @yoltboy01. Ladies, please gather the remains of your will and stay on-topic, be polite and respectful, stick to the facts. All have a nice chat.2 points

Unfortunately, I was not aware that you are also a Windows XP 64 bit user. Anyway! Search for two files, NDP40-KB2600211-x86.exe and NDP40-KB2600211-x86-x64.exe, via Google! You will find them immediately! Or try this link: https://web.archive.org/web/20190515222337/http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29053 BTW, did you try to install Panda as admin? And there is already a nice thread about .NET Framework: One of its posts contains a list with (all?) security updates of .NET Framework 4 until 2023 made by @Cixert: Greetings, AstroSkipper2 points

@WSC4! I assume both installers of Panda Anitvirus Free do either not recognise your installation of .NET Framework 4 correctly, or your installation is heavily corrupted, or a missing .NET Framework 4 security update is the cause. Maybe, you can check, for example, via WU/MU if an update is still available. For example, one of the last updates offered for Windows XP 64 Bit was KB2736428 (checked via Microsoft Update Catalog). If checking your installation by using the tools I already linked for you in my previous post does not help, I personally would uninstall .NET Framework 4 completely (via the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool) and do a fresh reinstall. When doing so, please keep in mind to keep a special order in terms of .NET Framework 4 installation under Windows XP 64 Bit. All is described here: After a reinstallation of .NET Framework 4, you still have to install all existing security updates, for example, via WU/MU. BTW, I had no problems at all to install Panda Antivirus Free under a fully updated Windows XP Professional SP3 32 Bit including all POSReady updates. Cheers, AstroSkipper2 points

Thanks for the info! But I would appreciate it very much not to totally slide into discussions that have nothing to do with the actual topic of this thread. Greetings from Sheldon Cooper! The owner of a forum would say: And the creator of a thread like me has to say as usual: A bit off-topic in a thread is never a problem. But please, let's get back on topic again! Thanks in advance! Cheers, AstroSkipper2 points

Check your installation of .NET Framework first! Here are two links to posts where I already wrote about that: https://msfn.org/board/topic/177099-which-antiviruses-are-known-for-a-fact-to-be-working-on-xp-sp3-as-of-2019/?do=findComment&comment=1240673 https://msfn.org/board/topic/177099-which-antiviruses-are-known-for-a-fact-to-be-working-on-xp-sp3-as-of-2019/?do=findComment&comment=1240692 Cheers, AstroSkipper2 points

Are you able to post on MSFN from this Puppy computer or are you using something else?1 point

I found my 1511. Plan to test it compared to LTSB 2016 [1607] over the weekend. Did a "default" install in a VM and Ungoogled Chromium v114 works, that's the HIGHEST version I will need for the next SEVERAL years (technically v86 still meets ALL of my needs). Will require some very heavy tweaking and modding and debloating compared to LTSB.1 point

Chrome 118 from last month doesn't work on Windows 10 RTM. https://msfn.org/board/topic/184046-future-of-chrome-on-windows-7/page/41/#comment-12514471 point

And to contribute a bit more on topic again, @NotHereToPlayGames (you are the only one I know who uses Windows XP 64 bit) might be so nice to open the offline installer of Panda Antivirus Free on his Windows XP 64 Bit machine to check whether the same problem, @WSC4 reported here, occurred or not. No need to install it. So, don't be worried! No raccoons in there either!1 point

Yes there was, obviously. Large corporations like Fujitsu-Siemens made a lot of ready-made Itanium workstations in Europe, I read HP also produced them up tp 2006-2007, so we can't be sure. I think the previous poster simply confused this thread with the old one, which was x86 only. Could you try panda on your XP64?1 point
-
The OP wrote many times, he doesn't honour any updates, doesn't install them.1 point

This one, also. 1. Will this browser collect or disclose my privacy information? "Strictly abide by the "Regulations on the protection of computer software" of the people's Republic of China... So, if by the China "regulations", then it's fine.1 point

If a manufacturer specifies the following as system requirements then the programme, in this case Panda Free Antivirus, should actually run under Windows XP 64 Bit. But let's face it, most manufacturers probably don't really test their programmes under all old, abandoned operating systems anymore. Therefore, the users simply have to test it themselves. And that means we have to do a part of the manufacturers' job if we want to use their programmes under these legacy OSes.1 point

And what about Supremium? Did you try it? It's on latest Chrome build, did you like it? It claims to work on 8.1.1 point

I'm sure it's a good decision, we'll see how far it will help. I remember it all went downhill very quickly after 110 (which can be ported to windows 7 and Vista). I think things will get real ugly after or even in 120. I don't want this to be a prediction, there are people who are obviously not that happy when my predictions become true. By that time, I hope you will make a new topic about the "Future of Chrome on Windows 10".1 point
-
Yes they did, I predicted about Win 7 (which is the topic here!) and 8, 8.1 (which is the topic's subject in the thread I made my predictions).1 point

jaclaz, I'm afraid I have to disagree about the term "generic", some time ago I was asked a specific question, I clearly predicted it about the memory function. Not just , "hey, guys, I know Chrome will soon not work". I think you're confusing me with someone else. Regards, Dixel.1 point

Good to know! But for how long? From what I observe, the development (of adding bloat) is at the speed of light lately. Opera added AI since 101, and so on.1 point

I already predicted it would have happened (link), I'm not surprised, even though folks wrote their chrome still worked on the old Win 10 at that time. So looks like now 1809 is the new bare minimum, link. And like I said before. the whole memory function would have to be replaced to be able to run on such old versions, link. This would explain the delays with the Chinese forks of Chrome for Win 7. Each new release will be harder and harder to port, so build from scratch is the only method left. As you all see, I could be the new clairvoyant, in addition to @D.Draker, I think I don't even have to mention, @jaclaz's half-functional (maintenance mode?) crystal ball is already mine.1 point

I used Norton Systemworks 2004 which included Norton Utilities and Norton Antivirus and was installed by me under Windows ME and XP. This antivirus version was unfortunately not very effective in preventing popups and malicious code injected by dubious websites I surfed at that times, especially if using the Internet Explorer.1 point

This "XP" skin is very bright and has acid colours, otherwise I have nothing against XP and its themes. It's just distracting, I prefer to look at websites. not browser skins. My opinion, skins must be more neutral.1 point

I too saw the awful, terrible and perverted things they wrote there about MSFN, while it was offline!1 point

I already know this comment. It was posted not long after MSFN became unavailable. I had to read shameful things in this specific thread, which may be detrimental and contrary to the mental health of a genuine MSFN member.1 point

You will leave all MSFN members from Western Europe you stalked, offended and put dirt on, beg for their forgivness, kneel before them and then surrender unconditionally.1 point
