Because Opera is Chinese (for about a decade now), and as far as I see it, they aren't concerned about any older OS in particular, it's rather because the Chinese are just slow at advancing it. But in this case it works in your favour.2 points

Although a little off-topic, the joke of the whole story is that OnlyFans runs much faster and better in New Moon 28 than in 360Chrome on my old Windows XP computer. And I mean that natively without ProxHTTPSProxy.2 points

Folks, be nice. The author clearly isn't a professional Web developer, and for that we should be grateful! A Web site can still be useful without all that "flash" and "sizzle" and the CPU/GPU-sucking CSS and JavaScript that goes along with it. (I agree with NHTPG about the ridiculous anti-Wikipedia rant, though.)1 point

Settings keep getting back to defaults in Win 10 is common knowledge. Especially in Error Reporting. No surprise, no wonder here. Policies have always been a moot point. Only removing and cutting out crap from ISO works. BTW, did you disable auto driver updates? Could be the reason.1 point

82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller = Intel Extreme Graphics 2, latest Intel GPU compatible with 98SE, latest drivers are here: https://download.asrock.com/Drivers/Intel/VGA/VGA_ME_98(13.6.1.3732).zip It does have 3D Acceleration, it's not great but passable, haven't really played with it much but it's better than having to use VBEMP...1 point

Hi. Is there a possibility you reconsider and use an ISO with SP2 already integrated? Nlite doesn't want to be friendly with the 64bit version, it's to be expected.1 point

Many Intel GPUs don't produce as much heat. The "Rugged" brand of Toughbooks have a heat spreader, about the size of and underneath of the keyboard. The cases hard surface is just to make it more durable. If you do buy one, make sure it comes with the Harddrive caddy. Unlike some common laptops, you cannot install a Harddrive without the caddy. The laptop's harddrive interface uses a special connector; the caddy comes with the adapter for it. I have not used the 855 GPU myself. But I have seen many "Win9x" drivers for it. It is the "Intel Extreme Graphics 2" integrated graphics processor. I've been planning to buy one myself, for some time. It should perform good, for Retro 3D. The audio chipset is AC97 "Sigmatel". In real dos you can use SMEMU for Soundblaster emulation (no 16bit protected mode, only real and 32bit protected mode). In Windows many Dos Games will work with audio (must use WDM audio driver). But some will only partially work, like Wolf3D. You can either use and SDL1.2 port of those games (if available), or use real Dos with SBEMU. Games like Doom and Quake worked with audio inside windows. This is because of the music being on the Disc/ISO (ReadBook).1 point

Well, those I gave you, they are tested by MS, hence they store them, and one can make a usual install (without the help of DDU cleaner), so the rollback would be possible.1 point

It was always the case, and it goes like this for ages, newer drivers are better optimized fir newer card generations, I'd say the drivers are good usually up to 3 years from the initial card release. Then they just don't care about your relic and move on.1 point

Hello @Dave-H! I am currently testing this out. It is clear that a more up-to-date version of OpenSSL and Cryptography will almost certainly be accompanied by bug fixes or optimisations. In my tests so far, the proxy works great and fast. I'm already in the process of integrating it into my package. At the moment, however, there is no compelling need to change. ProxyMII as such is of course not as comfortable to use. When you call it up, it is not automatically entered in the system proxy settings of IE. All has to be done manually. The handling of the ProxyMII standalone version is described in detail in the section 8 and following of my main article.1 point

User Agent Status - An extension to control the useragent for the currently loaded website In order for our legacy UXP browsers, which are regularly updated by @roytam1 and adapted to the modern web, to function properly with certain pages, the user agent used must be changed more and more frequently. This can be done via about:config or much more conveniently with the help of an extension. My favourite is User Agent Status. Here is a small screenshot: This extension lets you set a new site-specific user agent override (SSUAO) or reset it to its default string. Everything is displayed in the status bar and done by clicking on the corresponding button. There are five different actions when middle-clicking on the status bar icon: Reset the UA (default), Set the UA, Show the current website's SSUAO preference in about:config, Cycle between UA compatibility modes, and Nothing. You can set what action the middle-click does either via the context menu or the preferences manager in about:addons! In the status bar, you can see additionally three icon colours. Blue means no SSUAO, purple means a vendor-provided/default SSUAO, and red means a user-set SSUAO was assigned for the currently loaded web page. Here is the link to User Agent Status where you can find more detailed information: https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/ua-status/ Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

uBlock is not the reason, I've just tried with 90% of all available block lists turned on, and it worked just fine. It's either his IP, or he uses an old UA.1 point

It works for me, spoofed to a newer agent, of course.1 point

Since July 10 (made public since July 11) I have managed to run Windows XP x64 SP2 (built using XP2ESD) from UEFI Class 3 on Coffee Lake Windows 11 laptop on winload.efi 16497 using FlashBoot 3.3n bootmgfw.efi and Windows 7 generic VGA drivers by modifying the contents of mounted devices and enum key. I have used the XP2ESD build which contains the backported generic drivers and ACPI 2.0 drivers (from here) to get this to work. So far I tested acpibit64crack.sys from Dietmar. The fact that I managed to boot XP on such new hardware means that the ACPI 2.0 worked! Touchpad doesn't work because there aren't any working XP drivers for Intel Serial IO I2C Host Controller (9DE8 and 9DE9 in my case) to get the Elan1200 I2C Hid device to install using the backported generic touchpad driver from windows 8. USB XHCI controller and USB 3.0 root hub work without problems so I can use external mouse (for the cursor) and USB wireless adapter (for internet). I don't know if it's caused by ACPI incompatibility but I have tried to backport the Intel Serial IO I2C Host Controller from Windows 7 and it still wouldn't work even with Mov's ntoskrnl emu extender files! I have provided the device manager entries of my XP installation (from the enum key) so you can see the information on the drivers installed in my working XP OS.Useful's-XP-device-manager-entries.txt1 point

I corrected all links to images in my main article "ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use": Due to the length of my article and our forum editor, it was not as easy as I thought, though. Maybe @win32 will also be interested to import stuff from this rare driver, that didn't work in 37x.xx . It doesn't show up in the searches anymore, I was clever enough to save the direct link had from many years ago.1 point

It's a good PRE-COVID VULKAN driver. I actually get much better FPS with it on my Titan X 12Gb, much faster than the crap 36x.xx/37x.xx they made later,1 point

Of course it does work, it's directly from Microsoft, perhaps he blocked MS servers? Or maybe your country is blocked? Yeah, a good idea to back it up, it's a very rare driver without throttling. Everything up to Titan X is supported, MS signed (WHQL).1 point

Which driver versions did you use exactly_? You can't properly test any somewhat modern GPU on xp, since it has no DX10, not to mention DX11.1 point

Thanks for your hint! I already wrote about these modifications here in these posts: I left the maxVersion at 52.9.* but it can increased at any time (especially for Serpent 55), of course. All these extensions work in Serpent 52 and New Moon 28. I use a lot of them. But nevertheless, thank you for your contribution here! As always, much appreciated. Kind regards, AstroSkipper1 point
