This issue is due to the ExecutionContext added in Issue #1691 not handling GetScript() in a context where script execution is not allowed. This expressed itself in crashes when playing MP4s with the NoScript extension installed and enabled. (106de86dc) No official Pale-Moon changes picked since my last build. No official Basilisk changes picked since my last build.

  3. No apologies necessary in this so-called topic. Let’s just try to prevent technical threads from becoming “12 pages of rubbish” please.

  4. Not so simple, you touched one of the "tough" topics in English (but many other languages have similar peculiarities). People is a plural noun, but in some contexts there is the plural, i.e., as an example, you can say "the peoples of Asia": https://www.britannica.com/browse/Peoples-of-Asia Chicken is singular, one chicken, two chickens. Children is the plural of child. Hair is singular, but it is usually used as a collective noun, to mean the whole amount of single hairs, so depending on the context it can have a plural, i.e. you may find a few hairs on your comb, after having combed your hair.. jaclaz

  5. Best solution will be to clone Nt5 as an Opensource Project , something more serious than Reactos, focusing mainly on Kernel and other components rather Whole OS. This kernel can be used with XP Shell , 2000 Shell with Tweaks or Reactos Shell if u desire full opensouce. This is exactly what Beeos People did with Haiku ,

  7. I guess I for one am fully "aware" of this topic regardless of which month the calendar has us in. Britney Spears Kirsten Dunst Jim Carrey Robin Williams Miley Cyrus If you watch the news throughout the year, not just in May, this topic comes up ALL THE TIME. Public school or movie theater or mall shooting - two topics will saturate the news outlets for weeks -- 1) gun control, and 2) mental health

  8. I for one am not really sure of just "what" the topic was "expected" to unfold into - all MSFN members publicly declaring their "condition" and providing a full list of "meds" ???

We can just fork Reactos and black box Reverse Engineer Server 2003 [Don't copy code just look how they implemented , Exactly what Wildbill did] @WinWord2000 I have similar plan for NT5.2 Kernel , Tweaking it and using it on Win2000 or XP shell as u desire , fully opensource, Reactos People already documented 70% of Stuff , it is will power and man power what is needed , NT5 Forever can happen , like System V inspired Linux , it can become own Line of OS living forever, BSD was Black Box Rip Off of System V , This is my plan , not now exactly but will do in future when done with Current Projects , OS is no joke , so i need few other programmer. It is inspired by Kernel32 en-devour of Wildbill, but it will go far and wide Kernel: - AVX/AVX2/AVX512 Native Support - Intel Supervisor Mode Prevention - Address Space Layout Randomization - Kernel Page Table Isolation - ASID & Global Pages utilized for Memory Management - Superior Registry Hive Implementation - NX Bits Implementation - SSE2/SSE4 Optimized System [SSE2 is for Older Sytem with Core2/P4/Athlon64] - System wide Sandboxing XPDDM V2: - Superior OpenGL/Vulkan ICD - Varuna2D: Faster 2D Implementation based on Vulkan *Fall Backs to GDI for Older System /Software Usermode: - New CRT Runtime based on UCRT - NT6 Compatible Library: like K32_NEO for Newer Kernel 32 Api [ In Compatibility Property u can set Vista + while running newer Apps] HAL&ACPI: - Modern Hardware Clock Sources - ACPI Driver based on ACPICA Miscellaneous: - Intel/AMD Mesa Based Driver [DirectX9/OpenGL/Vulkan] - Universal USB Audio Stack + UHD Audio Driver - USB Stack Derived from Universal Kernel Mode Stack - GPT & BTRFS - Pure UEFI Boot [Backward Compatible with Legacy BIOS] - SecureBoot & Hardened Bootloader. Enhanced NDIS5: - Few Essential Features from NDIS 6 and Above - NIC Driver for most Common NIC for Which Official XP Driver not available Network Stack: - FreeBSD11 with F-Stack Patches [XP's own Stack is derived System V Unix/FreeBSD] - WPAS 3 Support

  12. Hello! The reason on Control.htm is not the right one. The server is just missing files. Can I have your fiddler log to troubleshoot it please? I should be able to fix that. But your language is not common. I don't think I'll be able to find a language pack file (.gng file) for it. But anyway, let's try!

  13. I don’t blame you. I started this topic because I believe that mental health issues have been affecting MSFN in recent years, and this really is Mental Health Awareness Month in the United States. The month of May will soon be over, and hopefully this topic will soon be abandoned by even the most compulsive posters - but hopefully an increased awareness will remain.

  15. VIsta doesn't support well GPT/UEFI AFAICR (and even 7 is more than a bit flaky with GPT/UEFI). Besides the issue reported here on MSFN on that given thread: https://msfn.org/board/topic/179532-installing-vista-or-7-using-uefigpt/ there could be also a mismatch of architecture, 32 bit vs. 64 bit if you are booting UEFI, on the other hand if you attempted booting a GPT style disk via BIOS, there will be probably no code in the (protective) MBR, so it won't be able to boot, though I thought that in this case the system would halt and not reboot. If your motherboard has CSM, it would be much easier to install in BIOS/CSM mode on a MBR style disk. In theory it is possible to convert (most) GPT style disks to MBR (without losing data), though the manual way is complex and although dedicated third party tools exist (I believe Commercial only) it isn't worth the hassle for a new install (IMHO). @D.Draker jaclaz is not a clairvoyant, unfortunately, he usually relies on his crystal ball but currently it is under maintenance[1]. jaclaz [1] and unfortunately also the I-Ching I use as a backup/temporary solution was unavailable

  16. Did you know that “funny farm” is synonymous with “loony bin,” “nut house,” “Bedlam,” “booby hatch” (thanks D.Draker for the last two) - all of which are euphemisms for “insane asylum” or “psychiatric hospital”? One such place was Pescadero, where Sarah Connor was unjustly incarcerated in the second Terminator movie.

  17. As if it really matters? What's the point in ANYBODY "correcting" others on such TRIVIAL matters? To prove ones self as "always right, never wrong"? I say that to ALL who "correct" others here at MSFN because that is why so many feel that MSFN is a "toxic environment" - it only "matters" in a "I have to be always right" universe. My two cents, my OPINION. "Opinions are like butts. Everybody has one, doesn't mean everybody wants to hear them." As far as being on-topic, I have to ask if "always right, never wrong" is a mental disorder? waka waka waka

  18. 1 - It would be "tribes of Asia" then. 2 - No, "in more general, commonly used, contexts, the plural form will also be chicken." https://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/the-plural-of/chicken.html I was under the impression - commonly used, general form of English is what we use here, no? 3 - At least here we agree. 4 - Using hairs instead of hair was always deemed grammatically incorrect, at least in the 80s we were taught, only illiterates speak/spell like that. Your English is very good, btw. None of this is meant to say otherwise.

  19. For me Windows Server 2003 is sill my daily driver. I preferred the Windows 95 explorer that I was using on Windows 98SE as daily driver until 2014, At this point 98SE was no longer usable because of the Web and I got a new laptop and Installed Windows Server 2003 (licenses was almost free). I still feel like Windows NT5.x is new I hated it when it came around in the early 2000's because it was much slower than 9x and lacked good DOS compatibility, but now I love it more than ever, super stable and nice interface, it is a shame that it is getting abandoned. I probably will have to abandon Windows Server 2003 as a daily driver but I am unsure I will accept to actually use Windows 10+.

  20. https://github.com/LordOfMice/Tools/blob/master/rmmremove.zip Utilities for removing "bad" DOS (RMM - Real Mode Mapper) drive letters for Windows 9x. Some analogue of "dlmanip delete" for DOS. Contents: RMMFLRM.VXD Delete phantom floppy drive letters. RMMBADRM.VXD Removal of USB drive letters processed by BIOS and visible as a duplicate under Windows 9x after Hand Off for USB controller. RMMLTRRM.VXD & RMMLTRRM.REG Remove any drive letter, including both boot and system letters (if you want to check this), not automatically, but by arbitrary list in the registry (RMMLTRRM.REG). N.B. These tools really delete drive letters, not just masking in Explorer:

  22. New build of post-deprecated Serpent/moebius for XP! * Notice: This repo will not be built on regular schedule, and changes are experimental as usual. ** Current moebius patch level should be on par with 52.9, but some security patches can not be applied/ported due to source milestone differences between versions. Test binary: Win32 http://o.rthost.win/basilisk/basilisk55-win32-git-20230527-18f929f60-xpmod.7z Win64 http://o.rthost.win/basilisk/basilisk55-win64-git-20230527-18f929f60-xpmod.7z repo: https://github.com/roytam1/basilisk55 Repo changes: - import from UXP: Issue #2250 - Part 1: Return early if the element being tested for is likely an ancestor and does not have an assigned slot (1c2dd6ae) (60925e43f) - import from UXP: Issue #2250 - Part 2: Ignore the ancestor filter assertion if rule matching is restricted or if the current element is under a shadow host (3d917c99) (3f426bfd7) - import from UXP: Issue #1592 - Follow-up: Ensure topmost scope marker is cleaned up (adaf6c32) (0254e5384) - import from UXP: Issue #2252 - Prevent crash when attempting to load a script with execution disallowed. This issue is due to the ExecutionContext added in Issue #1691 not handling GetScript() in a context where script execution is not allowed. This expressed itself in crashes when playing MP4s with the NoScript extension installed and enabled. (106de86d) (18f929f60)

  23. NT 5.x is the best series of the Windows NT line ever. It was so simple but also super stable and just does the work for me. I used XP until mid 2017 as main, and it was for the most part a very pleasant eXPerience. The old taskbar and explorer interface with deskbands and quicklaunch is just a dream for productive work. To this day my workflow works best with the explorer from XP/2003. It also runs usable on hardware starting from Pentium III to the well beloved and very fast Sandy/Ivy Bridge µarch. Even on Haswell with some tweaking. The only real downside is the aging and very bad security architecture/concept and the limited modern hardware support. If 3rd party software and hardware vendors still support NT 5 I would likely use it to this day as main.

  24. Well, I don't know how that happened either. I used to be one of the youngest, and suddenly I'm one of the oldest. In any case, you have my deepest understanding for that fatal condition.

  27. What else did you expect starting such a thread in a non-technical subforum? Everything that is possible is posted here. This thread in this non-technical subforum has absolutely nothing to do with Legacy Windows. This is where especially all the social media and lollipop posters get attracted at their finest and nothing else. IMHO, this has nothing to do with the original idea of MSFN. Spoken for me only, I am in general technically interested when surfing MSFN. That's why you find me here very rarely. And that's why I became a member of the MSFN Forum in 2010.
