Off-Topic: so tomorrow is last day of my "sick leave" period caused by bicycle accident happened in 12 Nov 2022, I'll try to pick-up all upstream changes to my trees. Starting from 1 March I have to resume to my $DAYJOB and picking-up tasks that crated during the period that I was "missing" so it could be quite busy in following days/weeks. hope everything goes well and back to normal soon.

I have them. And no, I am not infected with "TJPROJMAIN.EXE". I do not run any anti-virus. I only tried them in Win10 just for the curiousity of a new browser. I don't think you got "TJPROJMAIN.EXE" from this thread. (2/23/23)

Regarding Gmail, if I was reading correctly, access without OAuth2 is not possible anymore? If so, it seems to be enforced only for personal accounts. My corporate Gmail account still works with just classic username and password. At least I don't remember I had to change anything in the email client, I'll edit the post tomorrow after checking again to see if it's really the case. We have one application at the company that can send emails, but doesn't support OAuth2, they had to enable application password for it on Gmail side. It just generates unique password for application to use to authenticate with SMTP.

I never used that method, but did you select the Windows Update setting to “Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates”? If not, you may have plenty of security patches but e.g. no Platform Update components. You could check that box and search for updates again. Sorry, but I don’t know of any specific updates that affected Photo Gallery.

Yeah, those forks are always behind, mainline Firefox usually isn't (as much) AFAIK. And TBH, there's a good deal of flexibility in those old-school Mozilla-based browsers that I simply don't need (that I know, so extensions that I don't need) while there's probably also some that maybe I would find useful, but to get it, I would have to be the programmer to implement. I know there are folks that aren't interested in tweaking simply due to the fast pace that these browsers are changing and they just want something that will surely work on all those odd sites and not worry about fighting the browser on each update. When my parents were young, there was basically one car on the road, it was Zastava 750. If you had a car back then and came from these parts, it was probably that one. Now look at how many cars and different models are on the road. I don't know, maybe I'm straying a little, but sometimes I get these thoughts that all this so called "user choice" is more of a burden than the freedom. I could get by with most popular browser with mostly default settings if I wanted, but I guess I don't due to the nerdy side of me.

@msquidpl at least you tried, but crybaby ruined the fun. It's not that scary for me (I needed it for testing purposes only and prefer Centbrowser as the main browser), but you can use external one like sandboxie.

What I posted above was the dialog between two characters in the series I watched. It's not connected to the discoveries you posted, but it surely involved a hand, which was referred by the characters as the hand of God. I just remember it well enough that I quickly made an association. And while it's surely not God's hand in the literal sense, maybe the creators are/were a bit religious to put various religious references throughout the series. Source material upon which it was based on surely didn't have those. Maybe some lurker would recognize where it's from, I have a feeling I put too much information.

I was attached to Malwarebytes Free 2.2.1, but definition updates ended nearly a year ago so there is no point in reminiscing about versions older than 3.5.1 (which is nearly 5 years old itself). Malwarebytes Free was a very good PUP removal tool, but - unlike Kaspersky Free or Avast Free - it was simply not an antivirus. I never paid for Malwarebytes Premium because better antivirus solutions were available for free, but I still wonder if it works with the extended kernel.

Never said it was real time, unpaid. Nevertheless, I haven't tried versions of MBAM beyond 1.8.x in a good number of years. I used those builds because my key was indefinite, because they predated the annual subscription-based model. When that came to an end, so did my using Malwarebytes.

Thank you , it's a tough (hard as steel ) question, not everything you can block with just that ! The browser engine itself needs to be updated too ! I'm not among those who do it every week, but 3 years old is too much. I suggest to upgrade ones browser every 6 months or so. Second part, I don't agree with the precedent fellow, stealing cookies wouldn't involve scripts of any kind. With years cookies themselves became more complex , there's a new generation of "worker" cookies that may have a script inside that you can't block ! I already gave an example with the Mega website.

980 is very cheap, 780 could be found fir free and they have XP drivers for your multi boot. Most importantly, they consume much less power (980 esp).

I also choose 98fe. 95 is very appealing. Too many things make 98fe more useful, for me.

No issues at the moment but i did not use it extensively yet will update once i do since the build i did not use it a lot yet aside from time consuming software updates/drivers/patches and so on on each platform, only thing i had to mod my case a bit to fit the GPU (small piece had to be cut out of a hdd tray panel with a multi tool) I looked at R9 290x as well but won't work with xp which was a bummer, Titan X is too expensive for this build, but the 7970 will do just fine it is equivalent to +-R9 280x/GTX 960 my use case for this system is to have games on each of the OS'es from their respective era.

I will not continue with this project, I have outgrown it. Thank you for all your kind comments, advice, etc. My modified versions are removed - they are unsafe due to sandbox bypass, embeded videos do not work.

As promised, some further information about MailNews. It's now my standard email client in Windows XP. All my email service providers are supported by MailNews. I talk about GMX, WEB.DE, Gmail and Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail, now the light web version of Microsoft 365). It works without any problems, simply great. Here are some screenshots from my installation: I installed a lot of extensions from both Binary Outcast and Thunderbird.net, without any modifications, no editing of install.rdf, right out of the box. Furthermore, I activated the embedded calendar Lightning. I am very happy with MailNews, no cumbersome and heavy loading web interfaces anymore. This means I can fully recommend MailNews. Well, Chromium is using Windows 10 titlebar, and it doesn't render properly. You can disable Windows 10 titlebar by adding --disable-windows10-custom-titlebar to the "Target:" textbox of Chromium's desktop shortcut.

We are experiencing a new wave of spammers that is not unique to MSFN and is happening on other forums as well. These spammers will post about cryptocurrency. However, in addition to new users doing this, some of these spammers have been able to hijack or compromise existing user accounts and make a spam post. When we find an existing user that posts this type of spam, we will apply a 0 point warning on your account so that we can restrict posting. The warning reason will indicate that this has happened. Then you can PM the mod who sent you the warning and they will confirm that it is you and advise that you change your password. After this, the moderator can restore your posting ability.
