if it makes you fell any better I felt mostly same long ago when was reaching adulthood. It is thing that everyone will go trough. Most including me just never spoke from it to anyone as I am person who likes to keep them as own thing. It will eventually ease off. I ended up spending lot of time on room alone with games or internet and ended up loop with no friends because did not want meet anyone. But that is in the past and eased off when got to college and these days I mostly worry from work and other things but I learnt not to let them control my life. I live day by day and try get best out of each of them. Just don't give up it will ease off eventually2 points

Ha, it's my poor memory condition...I remember nothing, things that happened a week ago, a year ago, etc. but I live TODAY! A Mass Extinction of memory. I live TODAY.2 points

Being angry easily, anxiety, heavy pressure of education (massive amount of homework, studying, exams, etc), stress, depression, feeling lonely, sometimes wasting time on internet doing nothing,, sometimes having a weak memory (which means, sometimes forgetting the past), and so on. Thanks, nice to see you here on this board too.2 points

Hello @mina354, what is this "IRL problems"? so welcome on the board!2 points

I guess we all got different opinion to this but for me it was early 2000 before social media outburst. Back then games were mostly physical, most used landline and some were into wireless phones or those fancy new smartphone (older consept smartphone was pocket pc not device to post on twatter or other unsocial media) like my 6600 that was salvaged from trash bin long ago when it was few years old. Most still used IRLtalk combined with calling, texting or instant messaging or email or letters, but for it was mostly being in places physically with friends. I was out playing with friends on park, football field or other places or sometimes in their houses watching films or play multiplayer games with dead consept called splitscreen. Also console modding scene was big back then. Original Xbox was modder favorite it was able to play divx and other movie files, run emulators, play music and other cool stuff thanks to homebrew and modding scene. Today whole modding scene is replaced by 9 year old redditors and seems to be only into piracy or hacking into games (use cheats and not reverse engineer or mod them) and not interested trying utilize the hardware with homebrew software. Still hurts to think world went way it is now. Most friends around me seems to be hooked into unsocial media and they cant put their goddamn phones down for minute and feel so offended when I tell them put it down for while to spend time with me. Everytime it beeps they are looking them withing second from it. Put it on silent mode and let it sit on pocket until leave my house. I wont care what they do with their phone elsewhere but in my house it is my rules And they usually makes them acceptable with poor reasoning like "if one company can track why not let all others track me" or "i have nothing to hide let them spy me". Privacy is not all or nothing, it is about loosing something and just because you give data to one does not make it justifiable to give it for another violator. You can have privacy to some level without moving to mountains to live as Amish. Social media has ruined this world for good and I really wish there would be button that would make twitter and other go away. Too many people are addicted to social media and suffer depression from it as that is how algorithm keeps you hooked. Well atleast you can make personal choices. One is not install or browse those services on your phone. Second is delete those for good, then can go fuhrer and stop using your phone for useless things or go brick phones that I always been interested of. My old-school nokias allow most important feature of wireless phone which is to call on a move and my Casio f91-w non smart watch shows me what time is and also got second timer. My workstation is running trusted and tested operating system and software and I wont be on my machine most of my days, I still like meet people IRL and enjoy spending time on nature2 points

Have to wish Feodor2 good luck. He's talking about rust on XP, it is impressive and hopefully it doesn't upset anyone. :--)2 points

You're quite welcome. Sorry for the typos ... I mean *wistful* instead of wishful, and, of course, yesterday (without the s)1 point

Glad to see you Yeah, all those emotions: anger, anxiety, stress, depression, feeling lonely (isolation) ... know you're not alone. Of course, you know (easier said than done) we need to try and take control of our emotions before they take control of us. I (personal) feel wasted negative energy takes its toll on mental health and physical health unless we let it out and vent sometimes - one good thing about the internet for those folks that don't have people to open up to IRL. Pent up emotion is a recipe for illness. To me: its about prioritizing and managing what areas we have control. We can't fix everything in the world, only thing we can change is ourselves and our outlook. Wishing you well with your studies and your future. Yeah, sometimes, easy to look back and get wishful but yesterdays is over; history, and tomorrow is a mystery1 point

Me again. The thread looks cooler after the title change. Get me a coffee, I inserted a penny after I entered the cafe. +1, couldn't agree more. Life is becoming more difficult nowadays, it's also stressful for me, I have IRL problems that I am trying to solve, I always consider the older years having a better life, but 2017 and older were the best in my opinion. I am in the same boat as you two. Staying here on MSFN gets me relaxed though.1 point

Hi, i think you may want to take a look at this old post by @win32. https://web.archive.org/web/20200730112455/https://msfn.org/board/topic/181612-wip-windows-vista-extended-kernel/ I also think it would be nice if any one of the developers posted a basic tutorial about dll functions adding or at least some useful links to websites regarding this subject. I'm sure many people will be eager to help with extended kernels development. EDIT: Ive found this:1 point

can somebody do this again ? i dont know how to use cmake but somehow i managed to compile jpgxl in part, that jpgxl.dll was compiled it even has a few more exported functions so it might work as replacement https://www.file-upload.net/download-14780496/test.zip.html Jpeg_XL.dll goes into "IrfanView\Plugings" (thats where the old jpgxl.dll is) all brotli files go into "IrfanView" (that brotli is somehow part of that jpgxl), those dlls are not found when put into "plugins" folder thats probaly because the directy it searches are the Irfanview directory or system vc_redist.x86.exe installs msvcp140.dll (if missing, the redist problem users had recently last time ?) that decoder/encoder is certainly all os compatible the problem is probaly that the c-style and new compiler automaticly translate the c code into vista+ functions maybe also bring it into the irfanview forum if no missing functions are detected (what i suspect) if im wrong correct me and we make a next step the only Exported function my compiled Jpeg_XL.dll dont have is "GetPlugInInfo" that function is probaly added by the IrfanView author/programmer if that is the last problem the IrfanView author very certainly can program his IrfanView to use the Jpeg_Xl.dll i compiled up that might lead into the IrfanView authors forum1 point

And because I prefer to have good usability of websites, I do NOT use neither 3-rd party deny in uBlock, nor Origin Requests Only extension... Good night for all...1 point

Checked with https://xsinator.com The same result, only one in red: Frame Count Leak; either in uBlock with 3-rd party not allowed, or with the Origin Requests Only extension. And this is not very practical for websites.1 point

I patiently await @feodor2's "Mypal 2.0". NONE of Roytam's builds will work on one of my savings/IRA account web sites (in XP, 7, or 10!) so that alone kinda makes them all useless to me. I used to do that for years, maintain one browser for these web sites, maintain another browser for those web sites, I have zero interest in doing that anymore, life is too short. I miss when Mypal 27.9.4 performed everything I threw at it Hopefully "Mypal 2.0" (or whatever it's going to be called) will return me to Firefox-based. TBD edit - and NONE of Roytam's builds will work for my American Water billpay web site (in XP, 7, or 10!).1 point

In Chrome browsers, have "Block third-party cookies" (in DcBrowser) or "Block third-party cookies and site data" (in 360Chrome) notched - which "Prevent third-party websites from saving and reading cookie data"... With the "Privacy Settings" extension ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/privacy-settings/ijadljdlbkfhdoblhaedfgepliodmomj/related?hl=en-US ) - if you notch "Full Privacy", automatically the "websites.thirdPartyCookiesAllowed" preference is Disabled (this is the firstPartyIsolate preference)... you're able to set Disabled manually, in other two possibilities: "Reset to defaults" and "Enhanced Privacy". From FAQs page: https://add0n.com/privacy-settings.html?version=0.3.7&type=install : "To have control over what type of resources can be accessed by your browser, it is recommended to use Privacy Settings along with Policy Control extension." "Origin Requests Only (Firewall)" extension ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/origin-requests-only-fire/kadfhmhfoplfpmffcfanpnphhjbilifl?hl=en-US ) - block all requests that isn't from current site domain or sub domain. Preventing spy, tracking and ads. Extension allow requests to current domain or sub-domain and block all others requests. This same possibility we have in uBlock Origin, uMatrix... Extensions "ScriptBlock", "Script Blocker Ultimate" etc block scripts automatically... - So XS-Leaks are avoidable in Chrome browsers...what do you think then, please?1 point

@NotHereToPlayGames: First you say "the "internet"", but you're just talking about the WWW which is just a very little part of the Internet. Second the "Invision Community" provides the forums / bulletin software. MSFN, respectively it's owner, has to choose one of the forums / bulletin softwares which are available on the market (OSS, freeware or payware). The point is that for security reasons you have to choose a software which is currently in development. You don't want to have a software running on your server which has a lot of SQL/PHP/etc. security holes. The bad news is that support for older browsers is not integrated in the very most of these software projects. Now you can say "I want to have support for all browsers released since the early 90s!", but then you have to develop this software by your own...have fun! If you want to have a website which is compatible with very old browsers, then you have to go with HTML4 only (like my website), but this is not today's technology, obviously. And my website is hand-coded, completely...have fun again (thousands of hours, maybe ten thousands)! Don't get me wrong, I really like old-school websites (like my own), but you can't provide any additional functions (like forums / bulletins) in a secure way, if you aren't a very good PHP/JS developer with a lot of free-time. Soooo - at the very most you have to take what's on the market! kind regards soggi1 point

So I added those two functions and tried launching GIMP 2.10.18. However, even after getting over the hurdle represented by those two functions, there was another missing one in shell32.dll, SetCurrentProcessExplicitAppUserModelID. And it looks like it's an important one too: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/shobjidl_core/nf-shobjidl_core-setcurrentprocessexplicitappusermodelid Once it tried calling that one, it suddenly went crazy and crashed. Now I'm wondering if it would be better to have it forward to an API function representing XP/Vista-style taskbar grouping or keep it the way it is. But again, I'd like to focus on taking care of kernel32.dll and functions forwarded from it to ntdll.dll before the lower level dlls, as well as also making updates to the 32bit versions. Anyway, the code for these two new functions is available here: SetThreadErrorMode: 48 FF 25 D9 DC 05 00 CC K32GetModuleFileNameExA: 48 FF 25 49 2D 04 00 CC UPDATE: GIMP 2.10.0 is working, but it doesn't seem to use any of my functions. But it's still higher than the 2.8.22 that's listed in the last versions of software thread.1 point
