How To Fix Weather Gadget Windows Vista & 7 - Quick Fix 100% Tutorial: You don't need to download any gadgets or malicious programs! WORKING 2020!!! How to repair weather gadget default application from Windows 7. Fix cannot connect to service error! Follow my steps: Copy config.xml file to: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Services\Cache" and edit settings.ini to change location. Now is very easy to find location code with this site: https://weather.codes/ NEW link (config.xml)- last modified date 2017 (working without edit with notepad): File download link here (Mediafire) This completes the settings to fix the startup problem. But many users do not find the Config.xml file when they open the "Cache" folder. In this case, you need to download it from the link below, extract it from the archive and place it in the specified folder, and then perform all the manipulations with Notepad, which were discussed above. Modification After starting the tool, you need to configure its settings. Point the cursor over the "Weather" application icon. To the right of it, a block of icons will be displayed. We click on the "Parameters" icon in the form of a key.1 point

This video is rather outdated. Follow the guide here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183046-guide-vista-extended-kernel-installation/ Make sure you have all the necessary windows updates installed and don't forget about running the "bcdedit /set {current} nointegritychecks yes" command if you are replacing files manually. btw: Windows Vista has problems with running properly on Haswell or newer Intel CPUs (this includes i5 8250u), they are described here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/177509-windows-vista-intel-haswell-issues-documentation/ On Betawiki there is an information that those problems were solved/reduced in the 6003 version of hal.dll, but it's still not known if the information is correct. You are welcome to test this. KB4474419 is one of updates that contain the 6003 hal.dll (it requires KB4493730 to be installed first). You need a 6003 update to install the extended kernel anyway.1 point

Well, guess what has just fixed my issue? Big thanks, I now consider my XP install feature-complete, hahah. Maybe this should be included as one of the default about:config strings? I see that there are other useragent overrides for webpages such as YouTube or WhatsApp and I certainly haven't set them myself.1 point

Have you tried changing the useragent for addons.basilisk-browser.org in 'about:config'? New string: general.useragent.override.addons.basilisk-browser.org Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Goanna/4.8 Firefox/68.0 Basilisk/52.9.2021.07.19 That allows you to install extensions from there as well (or at least download them and then edit 'instal.rdf' with the appropriate min and max version).1 point

I submit that some will disagree with "change" for no other reason than it is "change". I googled (had to Google that out of curiosity, the "past tense verb" is not supposed to be capitalized) for XP Browser and MSFN.org shows up on Page 1 of the results. I googled for Vista Browser and MSFN.org shows up on Page 2 of the results. These will promote higher on the results pages because of how Google's algorithm works. The more ACTIVE these threads become the HIGHER they rank in ANY search engine list of results, not just Google, at least that's how I understand search engine algorithms. The web browsers discussed here are not really limited to XP. There is a large number of active users in the XP threads that don't even run XP.1 point

That's a big mistake IMHO. Logically find everything for XP in XP subforum. I would not guess in year that for browsers for old OS was created new special subforum. It is illogical. As usual in last years we see that almost every change in modern digital world is for worse. Youtube and Twitter interface, Browsers degradation, Android, Media players, Text programs, etc. Everything going down the old rusty barrel... Now you, Den, with your new "subforum" nobody asked for. People now will not find this browsers and will conclude that Vista and XP is completely dead. People find roytam brosers mainly using google search that direct them to XP subforum and now this will not work as before. Because everything is over-complicated on MSFN now. I humbly ask you to return XP browsers topic in XP subforum. Please, you, throwing in disarray your own forum, that's change make no sense. It is overthinked and over-complicated decision - let all XP stuff be in XP subforum. Please, Den Corso.1 point

Oh my god that was it. the 1 single thing i never would of thought to try... the DVD drive. - I was on the verge of totally giving up after days of pure fustration. I took it out ...and it stopped the hard drive light, it actually acts normal now, and not 1 blink per second forever. I put it back in, and it started happening again. So i just instead disabled it from Device Manager (for now) ...and... it stops the HD light activity. Wow, its finally solved. But that's weird, why would that happen from the DVD drive though ?? I mean i wasnt using it, there's nothing in it. I'm guessing it because it has a bad firmware, it's "D600 A04" version from dell's site. But based on some google searching, apparently this TSST Corp DVD Drive had firmware "D800" originally, but dell only provides D600, and i cant find any link for this D800 anywhere period. So it's a down-grade I couldnt use the "rollback driver" option in device manager as it said it doesnt have any backed up files for it. As it was already the latest version...or bad one apparently i guess. But at least it's finally stopped this infinite activity on the hard drive LED on top-left side of the laptop. I've never experienced a problem like that ever before on previous PC's throughout my life.1 point

You can also use the authorized mirror on my website (-> soggi.org - tools) - if you have no success via HTTPS, it also supports HTTP (intentionally for old browsers and/or OSes which don't support latest HTTPS/TLS). kind regards soggi1 point

I would like to thank you very much for still maintaining these browsers!!! While not the quickest (and feature-filled), Serpent 52.9 allowed me to fully bring my old Core 2 Duo E6750 equipped computer to life (of course, it could run 7 x64 easily, or, with some modifications, even 10 x64, but performance is key and this thing has a 15-year-old hard drive in it with more than 40 thousand hours of power-on time and always increasing ). I can easily check my mail, the weather and even do some browsing for, let's say, documentation for a piece of software that I need to run. Once again, great job. EDIT: You might want to change the download links on your blogspot page from https to http. While certainly not the safest, IE8 on XP has problems connecting to the server hosting the files over HTTPS, yet easily downloads them over HTTP.1 point

For those following the http://www.speed-battle.com/speedtest_e.php test results - I found the "security" setting that drops ALL of my Mozilla-based browsers to UNGODLY LOW scores. For "security", I disable IonMonkey just-in-time compiler because this Mozilla-based vulnerability is listed on various security exploits lists over and over and over. It gets patched one week to be exploited the next. So I disable IonMonkey JIT with this about:config setting -- javascript.options.ion -> false (default setting is true). For reference -- BNav scores with this set to true -- 1415.32 1412.07 1408.19 BNav scores with this set to false -- 156.12 153.80 159.93 (despite the massive hit to performance, I still prefer IonMonkey JIT to be disabled (ie, set to false))1 point

both are correct. They added integration to it and it is not any better. Also when I allowed js on site it wanted allow plenty of ultra privacy domains like tiktok. And I never trusted crypto echangers as that like many wont allow transfer of money on some wallets. Remember that all looks good on surface but once you lift the curtain it no longer does.1 point

I wish the Javascript interpreter was running isolated in a separate process, so i could just kill it and resume browsing without having to kill the whole browser... That "script unresponsive..." dialog often doesn't show up at all when i need it.1 point

With the large amount of interest in custom web browsers recently, we have created a new sub-forum specifically for topics about web browsers and the customisation and development of them. https://msfn.org/board/forum/200-web-browsers/1 point

They've mainstreamed it in the past couple of years since they realised they killed off the traditional forum singlehandedly for good.1 point

July... it wouldn't have harmed anyone to keep it 'till the end of the year... They really look forward to get rid of NT5 and everything related to it... Hopefully, updates are gonna be stored and re-uploaded on backup servers by third party users and new, complete, final SP4 will be made... But if it was for Microsoft, everything would be gone in a matter of months...1 point
